Hey, when do these larger threads get locked? I just realized how large this one has gotten.
Is it 3,000 posts?

I think it was 2500 posts. I'm not sure but that number sticks in my mind. But I am starting to get menopause brain so don't rely on me.![]()
I love seeing everyones projects. We are starting back on our basement again but it will be slow going since we are doing most of it ourselves.
I guess you will just have to start a new thread when we get to that point. I know this thread will run out before we are done with our projects.
Binny: Your nook looks great!!
binny, Your nook looks wonderful!! Great job on the curtains for never having sewed before!!
AMITY, Your palm is gorgeous! I wish I had a palm in my yard!! (Or that I lived somewhere warm enough to have a palm!)
But we do have all kinds of hills in Pittsburgh, we live in a suburb called Penn Hills. There's hills everywhere! Makes it challenging for biking sometimes!
Our backyard/patio project has been almost 3 years long so far, so I am very anxious to get it done this year. DH had started it in the fall 05, was starting to build the stone wall, and had to put it on the back burner for a bit and have back surgery for a herniated disk.
This will be the last leg of our Remodeling project that we actually started in 2004 with the gutting of the main floor of the house and an addition.
We''ll probably be on the tenth incarnation of the thread, before we even start demoing our bathroom. I'll probably be 50 by then.![]()
We live right on the border of two zones, one of which certain palms can't make it through the winter. That thing though - I think my husband would pray for it to just die, every time he had to prune it.
You should have seen his face when the pool guy (who also owns a palm nursery) told him what it was worth. I think my husband has a new respect for the palm now. I told him that I didn't want to have to look out the window later and see him out there hugging it.![]()
It's flat as a pancake where I live, but if you drive about ten miles north of me, rolling hills start. I've got hill envy.
Ok I posted another topic about it but here is what the after look like of the kitchen nook.
I had a friend cut some plywood for me and I tore apart the old seat cushions. I added new fabric and stapled it onto the boards, I painted the nook, painted new hardware, and most importantly sewed the curtains!! Another friend helped me figure out how to do the sewing but I did the rest of it myself ( I have never sewn before!)
Whew!
Ok here is the before...

Just tell a man that his tree is worth lots of money & he starts to love it!![]()
Now you know that is exactly what I thought when I saw that yard! I just couldn't come up with a way to say that I was jealous of a hill!HILL ENVY!!! Of course!
You know how flat it is over here & I have to drive much farther to find anything that remotely resembles a hill! No levees do not count as hills!!!

If someone told my husband that a tree that we had was worth $5000, he'd hug it once and then would find a buyer.![]()
Well, we were also told it probably weighed no less than 10,000 lbs.![]()
oooohh, I'm loving that Gold!!! Very rich looking!
I think the curtains look just fine with that new bedspread!! And I also like your idea of putting sheers underneath.
I'm still waiting for the guy to come and install my glass shower doors so I can say my new bathroom is officially done!
That's been quite a while waiting on those doors, hasn't it? Are they coming today?
Hi everyone!
My backsplash finally was grouted yesterday. Weeks after it went up. That's what happens when you rely on neighbor. lol The grout dried lighter than I would like. I'm hoping it will darken when we seal it again. Does grout darken? I know the travertine did after we sealed it the first time. They sell a grout stain I guess I could look into if needed.
We also raised the microwave cabinet 1.5" instead of 3". So now instead of microwave hanging 1.5" below cabinet bottom, it will now hang flush with cabinets when we get it hung back up. I'll now have 18" above stove to microwave bottom instead of only 16.5". We were going to go 3" up, but it didn't look right. 1.5" will work nicely with the size of molding we picked too.
And my cabinet molding came in from Home Depot weeks ago. It was too big, so we returned it & ordered a smaller crown molding. That is now sitting on my floor waiting for me to try to match the stain.
DH does computer repair work for a local contracting family. I don't know why it never occured to us to call them to do the backsplash. I guess maybe because it was such a small project. Anyway, DH did some computer work for them this week & I suggested maybe they could put up our cabinet molding in exchange. They will.I feel better about them doing it than my neighbor getting involved. Neighbor isn't very good with details & how things "look" if you know what i mean. They tile job has many flaws in it but I can live with it & call it the "rustic old world" look & hide it with items on the countertop.
I just don't want my molding to look that way.
I'll see if I can get some pics today after I wash off the haze.
