Let's talk about.......BAR B QUE'S!!!

We have a Charbroil gas grill that uses "flavor briquets," i.e., hard wood chunks you place at the base of the fire so it burns to flavor your food. I like it very much, but its burner plate has burnt out and needs replacing. DH, who is handy with tools at ONLY work, just wants to buy a new grill. So we're grill-less at the moment. (I should bribe my brother-in-law to come down and fix it for me.)

If we buy a new grill, I'd like to get something with a smoker feature. Lately, I've had a hankering for smoked brisket. :teeth:

We have a beautiful Webber Gold series. It was our anniversary gift to ourselves last year. It is the nicest of the "reasonable" grills. Once you go up from there, the price skyrockets into the thousands! :earseek:

I love to cook on it and DH loves to eat what I cook! :p I decided against the side burner, can't really see using it, but I can add it later if I want. I am considering the rotisserie, mmm, roto-ed chicken, oh, sorry, I got sidetracked! The best part is it is all stainless steel so I don't have to worry about rust. I am one of those insane people who BBQ year-round, even here in Chicago! I will be out in my big coat roasting a chicken. I have even baked bread and casseroles in the BBQ when I didn't want to heat up the house.

Hmm, I am going to the grocery to get something to cook out right now!

Just exactly what is 'brisket'? It's a cut of beef, this I know, but why is it called brisket? What part of the cow does it come from? Is it tough and need extra marinating? Is it better smoked? I don't think I've ever tasted it before. And I never will at this point since I gave up red meat and pork years ago. DH and the boys might like it though.

I remember those old Hibachi grills! They were perfect for townhouse (or "rowhome" as we used to call it) owners like DH and I used to be way back in the day right after we got married. We could also easily take it to the park for a nice private cook-out.

Now we own your typical gas grill, with mesquite lava rocks, or whatever they are!

I've been wondering that too!

We had a hibachi when we were dating and newly married. Boy, that thing got a lot of use. We'd sit on the back steps and cook. Now we have a gas grill. I'd really like one of those outside kitchens like on HGTV tho, with a sink/countertop. :teeth: )

Thanks IAMGONNABE40-that is the book I am going to buy!:p I love his books!;) There was actually a Brinkman Grill, that HAD a sink with it! ;)

I have no idea what part of the cow that brisket comes from, but I do know it's the same cut of meat that corned beef and pastrami are made from. I think it can be tough if not prepared properly.
