Let's do the "What book are you reading?" thread again!

He WOULD be perfect! I hadn't thought of that but you're absolutely right.

About Angela's Ashes--I read it and loved it and passed it on to DH. He got about a quarter the way through and had to quit. He lived in Northern Ireland for awhile as a child and they were also fairly poor at the time. He said it brought back too many bad memories because it is written so vividly.

Right now I'm re-reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. I want to re-read the whole series before the new book comes out this summer. Just a PSA: Thursday Next, First Among Sequels is due out July 19 for anyone else who loves his books!

The new book comes out this summer?????? I'm so excited!!!! This is a series that I absolutely LOVE!!!!! Guess I'll have to re-read the series, too! thanks for the heads up!

I just read "The Memory Keepers Daughter". It was fantastic. It was so good I passed it on to another disser. It's about a doctor who delivers his own twins...a boy and a girl. The girl is born with Downs Syndrome. The book is about how they deal with this. It is soooooooooo good.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through this. I started it just because the author is a Kentuckian, but I'm really enjoying it. Recent books that I have liked are Water for Elephants(loved it:thumbsup2 ) and Broken For You by Stephanie Kallos. I love to read but don't have the time for it as much as I would like(see picture of reason below:rotfl2: ).

Im readind I Love Claire by Tracey Bateman
Its the 3rd and last book in a series
Its a Christan romance, that doesnt really preach.
It just tells the story of a single mom and the way she struggles to get through her life.
Its light reading and I really look forward to seeing what my favorite charactures are going to do next.
Another great book is Eves Daughthers by Lynn Ausitn
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her.
Thanks for all the great suggestions
I have a whole page to try.

Recently finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter after staring at in my book stack for at least a year. Now I'm sorry to have waited so long; it was really good. A while ago I read The Ruins by Scott Smith and couldn't put it down. It takes place in Cancun and the surrounding area and is a slow-building terror story.

Now I'm reading A Simple Plan, an earlier book by the same author. Three friends find a crashed plane with a dead pilot and several million dollars in it. They decide to take the money and formulate a simple plan to keep it and divide it among themselves without getting caught. Things don't work out as expected.

For lighter fare I've been reading Carl Hiassen's series of Florida stories. I saw him speak about Nature Girl last Spring. I had to agree with one of his comments: Anyplace else in the country people ask him where he gets his ideas. In Florida his books are almost considered nonfiction. By the way, he just moved to Vero Beach last Spring.

am reading On the Run by Iris Johansen. A fellow reader my mother works with and I share books and she loved this one and lent it to me. I am so bored with it and am looking forward to starting something else. I am just fininshing it because she liked it so much.

Anyone else read it? Should I give up or is it worth finishing. I'm on page 100 or so.
I can't remember if I've read it or not. I usually like her books. Tell me what it's about and maybe it will jog my memory.

I've just started Divine Evil by Nora Roberts.

I finished reading Running with Scissors about an hour ago. I didn't really care for it - just not my style.

Earlier this week I read A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. I thought it was a very well-written book, and an important story to be told.

I read the first Claire book but didn't know there were 2 more in the series. I'll have to look for them. I also enjoy Lynn Austin's books, especially the ones that take place during the Civil War.

I read that one recently too. Don't know how I forgot that one when I listed books in my previous post. I really enjoyed it too.

I am reading Let there be Suspects by Emilie Richards. It's a light paperback read.

I just finished reading the Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio and I loved it. It's about a woman who had a huge family to raise in the 50's and entered heaps of contests (back when contests required you to write a poem or witty reparte, slogans etc) and won lots of stuff which kept her family afloat. I highly recommend it, not only was it a heartwarming story but its got me entering many more contests than I ever have! Fingers crossed!!! pixiedust:

I'm finishing the fourth Traveling Pants books, for light reading. We went to the library today for vacation reads and I got:

6 (or 7?) Ranier Drive by Debbie Macomber (a series I've been reading - it's not great but I'm loyal to finishing out the series)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe
Dieting for Dummies (oh, wait, that's not a serious read either! :rotfl: )

KK, did you read the Angel series by Debbie Macomber? Great set...worth finishing!

I'm reading the Yada Yada books for frivolous time, and about 3 nutrition books, 1 knitting book about knitting for charities, and another Cat Who book, even thoough they have become quite pitiful.

The Angels with Mercy, Shirley, um, forget the names? I've read a couple - one of the firsts with three short stories, and one with two short stories. I used to read ANYTHING Debbie wrote but her new stuff (and her very old stuff) isn't that good. She's getting very predictable and formulatic - which I guess is hard to avoid when you've written 100+ books!

Yeah, it was Shirly, Goodness and Mercy. I like her books with humor... I enjoyed her books also, but one bothered me, and I stepped away from them. My imagination is waaaay too active!

Allright I am going to post the last 4 books I've read because I loved them so much
I read
The Other Boleyn Girl
The Boleyn Inheritance
The Lovely Bones
and now I am reading a book for school called Warriors Don't Cry.

The Boleyn books are amazing, my favorite books ever. The Lovely Bones was really really great as well. I HIGHLY recommend all of them!

Wow I just read through the thread and TONS of people posted about The Other Boleyn Girl and The Boleyn Inheritance. Who knew? Awesome books, my favorites by far.

I can't remember if I've read it or not. I usually like her books. Tell me what it's about and maybe it will jog my memory.

I've just started Divine Evil by Nora Roberts.
Grace Archer and her daughter Frankie. She is in the witness protection program (or something) and have been living on a horse farm. That help?

I also forgot that I recently read White Oleander and The Black Dahlia. Whit Oleander was really good. I know I saw the movie a long time ago, but now I want to see it again to compare it to the book. The Black Dahlia was REALLY hard to get through. It's pretty graphic, but if you can get past that it's a pretty good book-the movied s***ed compared to the book.

I just started The Memory Keeper's Daughter, which my mother INSISTED I read, claiming it is absolutely fantastical - but honestly, I'm really having a hard time getting into it.;)
