Let's do the "What book are you reading?" thread again!

I am reading a few books. (one in the car, one in the family room, one in the living room etc)
The Secret Life of Lobsters: How Fishermen and Scientists Are Unraveling the Mysteries of Our Favorite Crustacean
by Trevor Corson

I love any and all books having anything to do with my beloved State of Maine. This book is about why (we think) lobsters do what they do, and why the men who are setting pots for them, do what they do.

Book two I am reading is Wicked which I picked up at the airport and I am very glad I did. Seems very good so far.

Book three is one that was recommended by my ds gifted and talented teacher. She read his book right before she went to a G/T teacher convention in North Carolina that he was speaking at. Rocket Boys: A Memoir by Homer Hickam
I have only read the introduction so far, but it seems very interesting, and I have always enjoyed other books she has mentioned. Memoir's are a fav read of mine anyways.

Speaking of memoir's...if you also enjoy them, or enjoy books about Maine then this is a book you don't want to miss reading. It is one of my top 10 favorites of all time.
Frankie's Place: A Love Story
by Jim Sterba

I finished reading Night Class by Mauve Binchy today.
Was it good? I really like her novels. I just finished Quentin's a couple of weeks ago.

I just started A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens. I just finished Jane Eyre......WOW!
Both great novels :thumbsup2

I just read "The Memory Keepers Daughter". It was fantastic. It was so good I passed it on to another disser. It's about a doctor who delivers his own twins...a boy and a girl. The girl is born with Downs Syndrome. The book is about how they deal with this. It is soooooooooo good.
I saw this at Barnes & Noble and thought it looked good but didn't buy it. I did write the title down, though, to remember to go get it at some point, even if from the library. I'm glad to hear it's good.

I'm currently about 3/4 of the way through Marley & Me by John Grogan. Very good book :thumbsup2

I had to go back to my first post and see what I was reading. I never started The Glass Castle because I did receive Step on a Crack for my birthday. As all of the Patterson books, it was a very fast read. Patterson has a new main character in this one.

I did start The Glass Castle a few days ago. I am really enjoying it. Actually I am a little disappointed I didn't get to read more of it this weekend.

I just started The Memory Keeper's Daughter, which my mother INSISTED I read, claiming it is absolutely fantastical - but honestly, I'm really having a hard time getting into it.;)

I am reading this one too! I'm at the part where they just had the memorial for DD. I was told it was a slow start but excellent book. It picks up in a bit. I hope so because so far it is a snore!

My sister just gave me this one & has "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" by the same authors. Highly recommended by sis and I will be reading that next!

The Kingdom Keepers: Ridely Pearson

Peter and The Star Catchers: Ridely Pearson

She Said Yes (I've read it several times, but I love it.): Bernall

and...

Who Are You: Joan Lowery Nixon

I have a question...

Do you know any good murder mystery writers?

I had a hard time getting in to it too but it does get better and I ended up really enjoying it.

I just finished Eat , Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert which was excellent

I'm reading the Dream Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I tried getting through "Fatal" by Michael Palmer and just couldn't finish it!! I'm trying different genres - ones I normally don't read. I read some westerns by Louis L'Amour and ended up liking them a lot! But now I'm trying to read some Thrillers and picked Fatal, which is a medical thriller and it made me feel like I was watching an action movie which I'm not too fond of. I rarely give up on a book when I'm so far into it, but I just got too frustrated when a chase scene lasted more than 2 chapters!

Anyway, I also finished "Family Planning" by Elizabeth Letts for a book group (it was ok) and now I'm going to start "Friday Night Knitting Club" by Kate Jacobs.

I need one more book for my Amazon order to get free shipping. I did kids novels this time since I am a teacher and I like to know what my students are reading. It is also a nice way to bond with them. I have Flush by Carl Hiaasen (I loved Hoot) and The Higher Power of Lucky by Susan Patron (this is the Newberry winner with the word scrotom in it) in my cart.

I need one more, preferably an adult novel. Maybe a Jodi Picoult??
