Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

I love the Conservation Station too. Definitely a hidden gem.

Too bad you saw Pocahontas instead of Rafiki, he was such a riot with us!

I love that they shave a hidden Mickey on the back of the animals once in a while. You got a much better picture of it than we did.

I don't understand why people are so afraid of rodents either! I would have been exactly like you and gone up to them so I could pet them. Maybe it's because I live in Chicago.....

I like Conservation Station, but I admit that I don't make it over there every trip. I will have to try to start doing that more regularly.

I agree !!I have done it but not everytime !!!

:woohoo: Yuki's back!!!!!

I love all the updates! We never go to Conservation Station, maybe we should next summer - it looks like a lot of fun!

Looking through my updates, I realized that in Ch. 26b, in the picture of me trying to pet the goat that just pooped, you can see me wearing my purple Mickey hair tie! I love Mickey/Minnie accessories :lovestruc

You're right - I don't think I've ever seen pictures from Conservation Station, nor have we been there. Thanks for sharing!

Definite pixie dust for the rain to begin just as you entered, and end as you left. Who could ask for more? :yay:

Looking forward to the next post. :surfweb:

You should definitely give it a try! I'll have to take more pictures next time too.

Everyone loves weather pixie dust!

Yuki! Nice to have you back! :yay: You got some great pics in the queue at Kali! I guess we weren't too thrilled at Rafiki's land, but I can see you found lots to appreciate! :thumbsup2

Tammie! It's great to be back. Still can't find my trip notes, so I'll have to go with memory and pictures!

That queue has so much to look at, it's so worth the standby line.

Awww, yeah! Well...we actually DID get to meet Rafiki later. Along with some other characters ;)

Haha, we had to chase that sheep around for a good picture but it was totally worth it.

Are there a lot of rodents in Chicago? Speaking of, Andrew and I might be taking a weekend trip there in November!!

I love rodents. All kinds. They're just so cute and furry! Another reason why I LOVE BATS.

I agree !!I have done it but not everytime !!!

Haha, I think I would go back every time just to see what kind of animals they bring out.

:woohoo: Yuki's back!!!!!

Karin!!!! I've missed you!

You should definitely go! It's such a great little break from the sun and heat.

Chapter 27a. Day 6 pt.4- The animals are so close!

Next stop, Kilimanjaro Safaris! We headed there to use our FPs but we found we didn't really need to get FPs for it. The standby line was frequently 10 mins all day, probably because of the showers we were getting. It was pretty weird cause I had read everywhere that KS is one of the most popular rides in the park and lines are usually always long.

I think I would've enjoyed this ride more if we sat closer to the front. We were near the back of the vehicle and I don't think our driver had a very good mic because we could barely hear anything he said. Most of the time, we just heard mumbling and I only really knew about the poachers because....well, I'm a DISer.

We still had a great time on it, and took LOTS of pictures. This chapter will be mostly pictures. When I saw pictures online, I had no idea just HOW CLOSE everything would be. My favourite parts were probably when the vehicle went over the bridges. It just sounded so cool.

We were too far from this chart to actually read it.

Wow, time sure flies when you're having fun. I mean, that safari felt like less than an hour!

Lesson number 18, sit closer to the front. There were too many people blocking our shots, it wasn't easy taking pictures.

We decided to grab a snack and head to watch the next Flights of Wonder show. We had to take another photo of the Tree of Life.
DSC00864.jpg

The Tree of Life is definitely my favourite weenie of the 4 parks. Oh, some of you don't know what a weenie is? Well, it's what Walt called the one big icon in a park that would draw guests towards the park. I don't know WHY he called it a weenie though...Can anybody explain?

Coming up next: They have corn dog nuggets here too???

I'm really surprised! Maybe EE has drawn them all away :confused3

Too bad - it can be a really fun commentary, even if it's the same every time ;)

So Safari, So good!

I googled your weenie question:

According to John Hench's book Designing Disney, "Walt observed that people move towards things that are inviting," and used the term wienie to refer to something that "...beckons them to continue further in their journey." Walt used wienie because of a life long love of hot dogs!

- wdwradio.com

Tammie:
Haha, how did you read the name of the animals??

Yeah...that lady next to me....would've been nice if she took her hat off.

Ohhhh, I had no idea Walt like hot dogs so much! I just couldn't figure out why he calls them weenies....haha

Hi Yuki! I haven't posted on here in awhile but I saw a twitter post from you the other day and went straight to my computer to check your TR and caught up! I love your pics and you're so funny! Congrats (way late) on finishing undergrad, huge accomplishment! I want to hear about your NYC trip!

Hey Kristina! Great to hear from you again. Haha, from Twitter. I may not have facebook, but I like Twitter just fine.

I'm debating whether I should put up my NYC TR now...or after I finish my AK day...hmmm

Hi Yuki! Regarding your comment of that kid using his DSi to take pictures, my son James got a 3DS for his birthday and now he takes 3D pictures and pictures where he morphs people's faces together and all kinds of crazy stuff. It's amazing what those things can do.

He got a 3DS!!! I'm so jealous! There are so many great games coming out just for the 3DS but I still can't justify it when I already have a DS Lite...It's great to hear that he likes it so much.

I had no idea they could take 3D pictures! Sounds really cool.

Real life update

I'm graduated!!! As in, got my degree and my diploma and everything!!! :cool1:

It was this past weekend and my family and even family friends came to celebrate with me. My mom even bought a bouquet of flowers and placed a graduating Minnie Mouse in it! I didn't realize this before, but I've always wanted a graduating plush.

Thanks so much for your earlier congratulations. Now I'm really out in the real world, looking for a job. Wish me luck! :thumbsup2

Also, instead of editing, reformatting, and reposting my NYC TR here, I've just been updating them on my blog. I'll have links up for that on my contents page. Just keep in mind that when I mention "YuChun", it's Andrew. It's his Chinese name cause blogs are so much more public than the DIS.

Congratulations! It's awesome when it all comes in, isn't it?

Yuki! Congrats again! You are so accomplished, I'm sure you'll have a great job in no time. Are you planning to stay where you are, or might you move?

Thanks for your congratulations everybody!

I've been working on my resume and it's harder than I expected....I've been getting a lot of help from my friends.

It just feels so different, with a whole new set of expectations
