Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Hey everyone, I'm so happy to be back! I'm still getting my bearings around not being in school and am still looking for a job...

I'm also considering becoming a USANA associate. It's a direct-selling company that sells nutritional supplements like vitamins and facial products that my mom is a part of. I've been taking the vitamins and definitely see a positive difference in my health, so I thought, "Why not join and spend more time with my mom?" It's a pretty successful international company and I see so many young people do so well in the business too.

Ok, on to the replies! By the way, have I told you guys that I love you? Cause I really do!:grouphug:

I'm first!

Welcome back Yuki! I"m glad you had a great trip! We were only one state away. HOT, wasn't it?

EE 3 times!!! :cool1: Glad you finally got the pic you wanted.

I never noticed Gertie peeking over the sign before! :rotfl2: I love PW too! Jim won't ride with me - he doesn't spin. My DSIS and niece and nephew had a blast on it with me. Somehow I can't see myself doing Single rider on that one....

You are so funny on Dinosaur - "he's going to eat me!" :scared1:

Hi Tammie!!! It WAS hot in Utah. But wow, what a diff to experience dry heat compared to humid heat. I LOVED IT. I'm weird like that... I got more tanned than I wanted to though...

Karin has been on EE 8 times in one day! I'm going to beat that next time...

Haha, PW is fun! But yeah, I wouldn't do single rider either. You get WAY too close to your ride partners.

I'm so scared of that dinosaur, I've never even seen it!

An update! Hurray!

I agree, Everest has an awesome queue. :thumbsup2

Cute photopass pictures!

Yeah, the Everest queue has so much to look at. I love museums and it's pretty much designed like that!

Thanks about the PP pics. I love them too. I can't wait to get the CD next time so I don't have to pick and choose which ones I want to spend money on.

I love Animal Kingdom for it's theming and ambience in general. You're right, you don't even feel like you're in a theme park when you're there.

Jealous that you got on EE three times! I can't wait to get back on it. The backwards part is my favorite too.

Okay, I'm not gonna lie, I may have to copy Andrew's dinosaur eating his finger picture. :lmao:

Don't worry that you can't look up on Dinosaur. It is such a loud ride for sure. I couldn't keep my eyes open at the end part for the longest time. I would just hunch over and cringe. :lmao:

Yeah, I love AK's theming. Definitely some of the best. I especially love taking pictures and making my friends guess where I am.

EE is SO MUCH FUN! It's tied for my favourite ride with ToT.

Haha, he does that with almost every dinosaur he sees.

I hope to conquer my fears on my next trip!

You're back with an update, woohoo!

Yaaay! I'm happy to be back!

Great Update !! I LOVE Dinasaur , but I am the only one, the oothers went on it agin this year and vowed NEVER again !!:scared1::rotfl2:Our first ride is always Safari , we all LOVE that:cloud9:

Haha, dinosaur is fun but scary! KS is definitely an awesome ride. I don't know anyone that doesn't like that ride.

:cool1: for getting a Yuki update! Hope everything is going well at home! :goodvibes

Hey Kelly and everybody else!

I'm so sorry I haven't been around. I just moved into my new place in Waterloo and we're having a lot of trouble with Rogers and their cable connection so we may not get internet until next week.....

Miss you guys a lot! Also can't wait to finish my TR and tell you guys about my NYC trip.

Thanks for sticking around!

Hi Yuki I am off to Cedar Point in the morning !!! Dan was asking if another meet was in the works so I am throwing it out there for you and Jen and anyone else who wants to joinnus for some Mall shopping and lunch!!!

Chapter 25. Day 6 pt2.- I'm completely SOAKED!!

After that terrifying trip back in time, we headed towards India for a refreshing ride down the Kali River. The walk over was beautiful.

Have I said how much I adore the theming in AK? Because I REALLY do. Words cannot explain how amazing it is. Even my scrapbook couldn't! It'll take an insane amount of pictures and even then, you'll only REALLY know what it's like when you're actually there. I know my parents have no intention of returning to WDW, but I'd love to take them back one day. If only just to see Epcot and AK. Maybe then they can tell me how authentic the Chinese pavilion is.

The queue for Kali is beautifully decorated. Get ready for another barrage of queue photos!
DSC00704.jpg

I want that shrine so bad. Cobras are my favourite snakes. Too bad Andrew doesn't let me have poisonous things.
DSC00706.jpg

DSC00707.jpg

Did you guys know that the sloped ceilings of that inner room has stories painted on them?

Like this one.
DSC00711.jpg

There were 4 stories in all.

I love that a large portion of the queue is covered. Just what we need!

DSC00715.jpg

We had a great ride down the Kali River. There was a family in our raft that had a little boy around...5-6 years old. He was just SO delightful throughout the whole ride!! His side of the raft got the most wet and he was enjoying himself so much. Near the end of our ride, we pass under a bridge and there were some people watching us from there. The little boy looks up and them and says loudly, "I'm completely soaked!!!" Oh my gosh, he was so adorable and totally made the ride even better.

We were getting kind of hungry after our adventurous raft ride so we grabbed something from the pretzel cart. I had heard so many good things about the Jalapeno cheese pretzel so we got that. Andrew and I both love Jalapenos. We also love pronouncing it wrong. "Jah-lah-pen-nose" peppers!

DSC00723.jpg

We sat in one of the table areas along the river. It was almost empty and such a great place to relax. I wish I had taken more pictures but again, was too busy videotaping it. I think it's one of the old docks for the boat that used to go around the river. Definitely one of my favourite places to chill.

While we ate and covered ourselves with more sunscreen, the inevitable shows ups (ie, birds). There was this one duck.
DSC00727.jpg

Andrew got pretty attached and loved feeding him from his hand. He named him Leonard. After that point, all ducks we saw were "Leonard". Even now back home, when we see a lone duck wandering close to us for food, we say, "Leonard! You've come back to us!"

So, I'm sure y'all have seen these birds everywhere because they're everywhere and freak Kara out.
DSC00728.jpg

What kind of birds ARE THEY??? We really didn't like them.

After our little snack, we decided to check out Rafiki's Planet. That was one of the places on my must-do list. On our way there, I just HAD to grab my FIRST and ONLY Mickey ice cream bar.
DSC00730.jpg

It's a shame I didn't have more! I had waited so long for it and it did NOT disappoint. Mmmmm, I could go for one now.....

Right after I finished my bar, we saw Terk coming out! We were just in time for a picture!
DSC00731.jpg

Man.....can't imagine what it must feel like under there! That's a tough job. Thank you CMs!

Before Rafiki's Planet, we quickly grabbed an FP for Kilimanjaro for use after we return.

The train station was easy enough to find. Not a huge crowd there so we were able to get a seat in the front row. Not a whole lot of leg room though.
DSC00736.jpg

The ride was great. I love train rides. The ride took us through behind the Safari to where they keep the animals!

The theming on the roof of the station is so cool!

Coming up next: Conservation Station

Animal Kingdom truly is a BEAUTIFUL park!

I hate waiting in line for too long, but I might just have to go through the regular line at Kali River Rapids at least once to see all there is to see. Seems like a very detailed and decorated queue!

Great Update Yuki !!This time next week I will be in Disney!!!Friday the 14th we have a Safari booked !!!Can't wait to see that!!

Animal Kingdom is really one of the most beautifully themed parks. It's everywhere in the details. I love the Kali queue also.

That little boy sounds so cute! Having little ones along that have a good ol' time is just so much fun!

Mmmm. Mickey Bar. I want one right now too!

Okay , now I really want a Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel and a Mickey Ice Cream Bar! Yum Yum!

Oh, I bet you'd love the pretzel. It's delicious!

Yeah, you really should! The standby line was pretty short when we went and we loved looking at everything. In fact, it was so early that some of the queue hadn't been opened up yet

Great Update Yuki !!This time next week I will be in Disney!!!Friday the 14th we have a Safari booked !!!Can't wait to see that!!

You're going back??? As an escort?? I'M SO JEALOUS!

Mmmm. Mickey Bar. I want one right now too!

Absolutely. It's gorgeous. I could spend all day there, just taking pictures.

I just love going through the parks with a little one! Well, watching the little ones anyways. Ok...that doesn't sound very right....Can't wait to bring my own little ones one day!

Mmmm...those Mickey bars are just so tempting

Chapter 26a. Day 6 pt.3- I love all these rhyming names

We got off at Rafiki's Planet and made our way towards the Conservation Station.
DSC00743.jpg

I think this was closer to the station...can't really remember.

It's Rafiki!
DSC00744.jpg

We got there just in time too, it had started to sprinkle! By the time we got inside, it was pouring.
DSC00746.jpg

The entrance is incredible. Like a painting version of the Tree of Life carvings.

DSC00753.jpg

This red panda is SO CUTE!!!
DSC00755.jpg

I didn't know this at the time, but this incredible mural is FILLED with Hidden Mickeys! I'll be spending so much more time here next time, trying to find all of them.

The Conservation Station is this large round room filled with interesting displays to look at and activities to do. I would've taken more pictures if I had known there were so LITTLE on the DIS! Maybe next time. It was a very neat little place to take a break and just...learn something I guess.

For some reason, Andrew REALLY wanted a picture with this cut-out. I'm still not sure why.
DSC00756.jpg

A CM handler brought out some rats and I could tell some of the kids weren't sure whether to approach them or not. Since I love rodents, I just had to play with them a little.
DSC00757.jpg

DSC00758.jpg

They were so cute and soft! I miss my hamsters...

And then we saw Jiminy Cricket! If you want to get him, you need to come here. I hear he's a regular. This is Andrew's favourite character picture. Now that I think of it, I think it's his ONLY character picture! That must be remedied on our next trip...somehow...
DSC00759.jpg

There were a lot of little benches all around, so I sat down and wrote some notes while Andrew took some pictures of the bugs....Yeah...there are a lot of bug and bug carcass displays. For you guys' sake, I'm not posting them.

Unfortunately, Andrew showed them to me....:sad2:

You don't have to worry about visiting because they're in one area and you can easily avoid it if you have a spotter. I even tried to face my fears and actually approach the displays, but I started to break down a bit....Lesson number 17, don't look at the bugs.

We also took a ton of snake and reptile pics and although I LOVE those, I won't be posting any either. Not everybody is as big of a fan of those scaly creatures as I am.

Speaking of snakes, I've read stories about people finding snakes in their rooms. I'm probably one of the few people that wouldn't mind if that happened! If only Andrew would let me bring them home...

Another cool thing about Conservation Station is that they have an animal hospital right there with a window so you can watch. Usually, it's just check-ups but on that day, they were doing surgery on a bird. I'm not sure I should post those pictures either because they're pretty graphic.

Ok, finally some pics I can post!
DSC00783.jpg

DSC00784.jpg

Behind every display room, there would sometimes be a scientist that would talk about what we saw behind the glass and stuff. A lot of fun to watch and listen to. My favourite is the one about snakes.

Another activity you can do is colour a picture of a Tamarin monkey. On your way in from the station, there is a little cage that houses a few of these monkeys and they're adorable.

We thought the drawing was seriously lacking in artistic merit, so we decided to make it look prettier. With crayons.
DSC00787.jpg

Which do YOU like better?

After our colouring adventure, Pocahontas showed up! Since there's no line, I line up. That's pretty much my trend with character pictures. If there is less than 3 families in line (not kids, cause that's pretty unlikely), I'll get in line. Any more, I just pass by.

I asked her where Meeko was and she said she didn't know... I was expecting more...
DSC00788.jpg

DSC00790.jpg

She was nice enough.

There were some rooms in "Mother Willow" where you could listen to the sounds of the jungle I think....not sure I remembered much...:rolleyes1

Continued in next post.

Chapter 26b. Day 6 pt.3- More rhyming names!

By the time we had our fill of the Conservation Station (gosh, I love rhyming), we stepped out into the beautiful sunlight. The rain just ended! Hooray for perfect timing pixie dust!

So, right outside was the Affection Section, which is a petting zoo/mini zoo. There were lot of goats and sheep to pet and brush and a couple of animals fenced off for us to visit.
DSC00791.jpg

Very sunny indeed.
DSC00792.jpg

DSC00793.jpg

This goat came right up to us. And pooped...
DSC00794.jpg

There he is, minding his own business.
DSC00795.jpg

Why am I trying to pet him???
DSC00796.jpg

We found a Hidden Mickey! It was adorable.

DSC00803.jpg

They moved around a lot, so it wasn't easy trying to get a picture with one.

This cow's name is Betsy, no lie.
DSC00805.jpg

We stood around a bit, chatting with the CM there and learned a lot about the animals that I can't remember right now. It was very nice to chat with the CM. See, this is the kind of Disney vacation everyone should have.

On our way back, Andrew again, noticed something in the pavement.
DSC00806.jpg

I know this place doesn't get a lot of love, but I definitely recommend it, if only to get away from the hustle and bustle of the park. It's also pretty well shaded. We spent well over an hour here.

Coming up next: Going on a safari! Get ready for tons of pictures of stuff you've already seen hundreds of pictures of.

You're right - I don't think I've ever seen pictures from Conservation Station, nor have we been there. Thanks for sharing!

Definite pixie dust for the rain to begin just as you entered, and end as you left. Who could ask for more? :yay:

Looking forward to the next post. :surfweb:

Yuki! Nice to have you back! :yay: You got some great pics in the queue at Kali! I guess we weren't too thrilled at Rafiki's land, but I can see you found lots to appreciate! :thumbsup2
