Lesley & Joseph DCL Wedding - Updated 5/8

Hi Lesley!!

I just found your PJ :woohoo: Not quite sure how I missed it before, but that's alright, I get to follow along with your planning now!

Everything looks great thus far! I love your invitations and newsletter! The complete package looks so great together--beautiful with island/beachy flare :goodvibes I'm also really happy to hear that you were able to find an external photographer! Big bonus that you've already worked with them! The photo of you and your fiancé is lovely! Is that one of your engagement photos?

In answer to your silk flower question, yes you can bring silk floral onboard. According to Passporter's Guide to Disney Weddings (an AWESOME resource, if you don't have it yet), you can also bring other ceremony decor--such as aisle runners, guest books, custom champagne flutes, etc. Because Disney's prices for can be a little high (in my opinion), I'm purchasing clay floral designs for my additional floral. I'm pretty excited about this, because it means I can customize some of my floral and it looks beautiful as well as real. Just trying to decide what flowers to use now... :upsidedow

Oh, I love the bags you purchased!! Really cute, and I think the color works. It's nautical, but cheerful too. I'll look forward to see what you decide to include in them!

Hope you're having a good week!! :goodvibes

I finally have a dress! I was getting worried I wouldn't find one! This was the first dress I saw that I loved, and the first dress I put on. I tried 3 others and they just didn't compare to this one.

I just found this thread and am loving it! I am also having a DCL wedding October 2013 and am loving how you are planning everything.

The invitations, newsletter, and postcards were such an awesome idea! I really loved the detail you put with the starfish on the bottle!

The dress is so beautiful! Please keep us all updated! :P

SO pretty!!! The skirt is just stunning! I bet it looks gorgeous on you! Congratulations on finding the one! :goodvibes

We really were interested in the Under the Sea cake. We asked if we were able to add a different color to the white chocolate shells but were told no. After reading some of the reviews of not being impressed with the cake and with the added cost, we opted to go a different way.

I wish the options were better, but it is what it is. We did finally decide on what cake.

We chose the option on the left (A Touch of Romance).

We are still trying to decide on the cake topper and cake flavor(s).

My DF lost his mother a few years ago and I was trying to find something to do in honor of her. This is an idea that I found on Pinterest.

The message in a bottle is so cute! I love that idea, and thinking of the coconut scent made me thirsty for some coconut water! :P

Your ring is beautiful and I'm so happy you went with the DCL! Yay! Another DCL bride! :rotfl: I am loving your details in everything!

We were also wanting to do the Under the Sea cake but we really wanted a cake topper so are deciding on a different cake. Your dress looks so magical!

I am definitely looking forward to the next post!

I saw this on Pinterest and loved them. Since we did Message in a Bottle invitations with sand and seashells -- these fit in perfectly.

I was thrilled to find plastic ornaments that relatively looked like glass. I bought them at Michaels. I didn't want to have to worry about dealing with glass.

I haven't started the assembly yet as I am still waiting to hear back from Meredith to make sure that this will not be a problem bringing onboard and off. I have heard that some have had problems bringing "sand" and "shells" back. Although, I cannot foresee this to be a problem as they are "craft" items, but you never know ... all I ever hear is "no" ...

Here is the picture that I am using for my inspiration found on Pinterest.

I'll be sure to post my version of these when I get the A-OK :)

Thank you! I really loved the idea of the Message in a Bottle and I felt the same way about the Coconut! Smells so good! I was disappointed about the Under the Sea Cake ... it fits so well with what we are doing :( But honestly, not too fond of any of the choices ... but it's just cake! Congratulations to you! Yay! :) Will have to catch up on your PJ !!

Joining in! Everything looks great!

Your invites are so creative and I love the dress! Very pretty! :)

Thank You to both! :)

I found these plain Brown Paper Kraft bags that were on clearance making them only $0.06/bag!
This is my version, I made the image on my computer and ran it through the printer.
They might not be as cute as the muslin bags, but if the guest throw them away, I won't care as much!

This is what is inside the bag: Chapstick with SPF; Advil; Mickey Band-aids; Aloe Vera; Cleansing Wipes; Bath & Body Works Anti Bacterial Gel (Caribbean Escape)

4 months to go, I feel like I should be doing a lot more than what I have been doing ... With Christmas right around the corner, my focus has been somewhat elsewhere.

This week I am starting to make wedding wands. I saw these on Pinterest ... many different forms and different ways people make them ... some have also added bells.

I bought the "wands" (aka dowels) at Walmart for $0.97 for a pack of 16. I also bought the satin ribbon there as well for $1.97 -- They didn't have the teal color I was looking for, so I am hoping to pick it up this week at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. I am doing several different colors, for a tropical feel ... These will be used in place of rose petals thrown :)

Here is an orange one ...

I had thought about using those for flower girls but now my soon to be nieces aren't going to be able to go. What are your wedding colors? Teal is my favorite color.

I actually don't have set colors, just tropical :)
My daughter is wearing teal, she's the only one in our wedding party. I have 4 nieces and my DF has 10! So, we opted to have just our daughter to be in our party.

I'm sorry they are not able to come :(

Here is what you will need for the wedding wands. I used silk ribbon 5/8 in several different colors since I really don't have a set color.

I cut it longer than the dowel, as you will be twisting it around the dowel.

Here, I have the two pieces of ribbon attached together at the top and have added hot glue on the backside as I will start to wrap the ribbon around the dowel.

Here is the finished project. You will want to run the bottom of the ribbon under a candle, or match, etc. so it will not fray. I didn't do it at the top because you were wrapping it and it will be hidden. They are pretty simple to make.

I received word back from Meredith that we will be permitted to bring a "message in a bottle" for our cake topper. Since those were our invites, I am thrilled that they are permitting us to be able to incorporate it in our cake. (( I'm in search of finding a small glass bottle this week at the craft stores! ))

Obviously, our cake will look nothing like this ...
