I am new here but the Polynesian is the only place that we ever stay(7 times)...they are so friendly there all you have to do is ask them for a few to go and they will be glad to give them to you...they don't say anything on them, just a normal lei...hope this helps...;)

Like PP, they are plain leis but they add extra magic to the theme of the Polynesian resort.

You can buy them in the stores there. We stayed there on our first trip and never got free ones.

Wow...really?...we have always gotten ours free...when you register at the front desk they put them around your neck...and also when you enter the luau the girls put them around your neck...:confused3

The leis that you can purchase are a better quality then the ones they give you at check in, I believe. None of them have Polynesian Resort branding on them, but I think that's a great idea.

Wow...a whole bunch of posts on here but no "lei jokes" yet?!?!:rotfl2:

Of course the ones for guests are free - they are always part of the check-in. Non-guests shouln't be asking for these leis, they should just stop at Boutiki and buy a lei if they want one. And yes, the purchased ones are nicer than the free guest leis.

The free ones are still a lot better than the trash-bag-plastic ones they (at least used to) give out at local chinese/poly restaurants.

When we stayed at the Poly in 2006, we actually got two each - one when we originally checked in at the main desk (which I think were white), and another when we checked in at the Hawaii building because we got upgraded to concierge (:thumbsup2), which were pink/purple.

I think we still have them, although a few flowers may have fallen off.

We got our leis when we ate at Ohana. The female compare/ entertainer gave them out for those dancing and then for anyone else that wanted afterwards :thumbsup2

Thanks to everybody who replied, does anybody know how much the leis cost in the gift shops?
