Legal Question- PLEASE HELP

There's no proof to that. He ver easily could have been checking her tire for a nail or something.

Did she ask him to look at it for her? Who goes inspecting other peoples cars without being asked, how would he and why would he even know about it?

He walks by her car and notices the tire is low. So being a nice person (they do exist) he checks the tire out, then heads into work and lets her know. Again, being a nice guy asks her if she would like any help with the tire. I don't see why this seems odd. He's a co-worker so they probably have some type of friendliness to each other.
If it were me that spotted the tire, I'd probably do the same thing he did. :confused3

It happens frequently here at work. Someone notices a low tire, they look at it, check it out real fast and let the person know. Obviously the guy knew the car was hers--probably checked it out so he could tell her about it.

On the flip side of the coin---maybe he noticed the flat tire, checked it out to see if it could be fixed and offered to fix it to get back on the person's good side again because of the previous incident.

And I am forever having issues with my tires going low, even brand new tires. I can air them up and they will be fine again for awhile. Often if your tire is a little low and you don't catch it and drive it for a few days, it can go almost flat pretty fast after a certain point.

Also, if you have low profile tires, they are notorious for leaking air and then airing them up and being fine. Not all flat tires will whoosh out air soon as you air them up.

I was driving with a low tyre one of my male work mates noticed it looked at the tyre and noticed a nail in so he told me and I got the wheel dealt with. Its called helping someone you work with not anything sinister.

Which is why it is so essential to get his side of the story into the mix: What does he say he was doing?

He was mad about an earlier issue.

The fact he was mad about something doesn't speak to anyone else?

This isn't a random thing, a person just being nice. There was bad blood.

All I can think about are those 'caught on tape' videos of irate people doing the most insane things to other people when ticked off. People are nutty

But then offers to fix it???? Maybe he seen the flat tire and thought by offering to fix it, it would ammend the previous incident. There are many ways this could work out. Op is not giving enough details.

Who the heck would insist to look at surveillance cameras over a flat tire?

In most management positions you have access to where the cameras are. I have worked several jobs where I total access to the cameras & could easily review them myself without having to ask someone & "insist"

Was he made at the owner of the car for an earlier issue, or was the "earlier issue" unrelated to the owner of the car?

Is the "female" in this story in a management position? If she isn't and she didn't run the tapes herself then she had to ask someone to do it for her. It just seems, from the information that the OP has released, that the "female" is making a mountain out of a mole hill. Of course, there is probably some involved back story we are not privy to.

and op doesnt want us to know the back story, so in the true spirit of the internet, lets continue to speculate and argue and disagree over the motive. lets try to come up with the backstory...maybe it involved cheating, or stealing, or god forbid, murder.

Here's the situation-2 people working together. Man tells female that her tire is flat and he will pump it up for her. She goes out to look at it. It's low but not flat. She says her husband will take care of it. Husband had just driven the car and tire was NOT low. Husband pumps up tire that night and it doesn't leak down by next morning. Ok maybe someone messed with the tire. Ok the cameras at worked are watched. THERE IT IS! The male employee crouching down by the car at the tire for a period of time. What can be done legally? Is the company responsible for providing a safe place to work and take the blame or is it between the 2 employees?

He was mad about an earlier issue.

I'm guessing that this isn't the first wonky interaction between OP and this guy. Maybe he's been acting "off" since the "earlier issue" or maybe weird things have been happening that OP thinks the guy has had a hand in but there was no way to get proof until this instance.

Question - how long of a "period of time" was he by the tire? Long enough to check for a nail or other source of air leak? Long enough to take the valve cap off and let enough air out to make the tire appear flat? The former shouldn't take more than more than 30-40 seconds but the latter would take quite a bit longer, I would think.

My thoughts:

he could be doing the "knight in shining armor" thing. Did the "earlier issue" involve a wrong or error on his part? He may feel that he needs to prove that he isn't a bad guy so he'll offset the past wrong/error by doing a good deed of helping you out with your "flat" tire. Of course, this scenario doesn't help his situation if he's the one who caused the flat by letting air out of it...

he could have some weird, freaky, ulterior motive.

OP - if he was lingering by the tire long enough for air to be let out, I'd definitely go to HR and have them talk with him. I don't know that I would go to the police at this point but having HR look into this would provide a history should anything escalate to the point of needing police involvement.

:thumbsup2

Maybe it was the parking lot version of line jumping. You know, let air out of her tire and tell her so that she is cautious leaving the parking lot allowing him to be that much closer to the exit? (This was the most rediculous thing that came to my mind right away.) :rotfl:

Seriously though, I agree with other PPs. We need more backstory. Seeing the man kneeling by the car proves nothing other than the fact that he knelt by the car. Even if there was some sort of strained feelings between them, he still may have been being a nice person. It does still happen from time to time! That being said, if she feels uncomfortable then she should say something to her HR department and watch her back. It may be nothing, but if it does turn into something or another creepy situation happens, then she will have more ammunition to get rid of the guy.

OK...

If there was no other indication of "bad blood" between me and the guy, I would assume that he was just being nice, noticed my tire looked flat, bent down to take a closer look at it etc.

If there is known "bad blood" between the 2, he could have let the air out of the tire to:
1. Break it off on the woman
2. Break it off on the woman but then decided that it was the wrong thing to do so he "noticed" the flat tire and offered to help fix it
3. Be able to be her knight in shining armor by "saving" her from a flat and then (in his mind) maybe the "bad blood" would be smoothed over a bit...as in "Well, we had that argument but if I help her with her tire, maybe she won't think I'm such a louse".
4. Solidify the fact that he is a total whackjob stalker kook
5. Get close to this woman who has now decided he has a "thing" for and do something nice so she'll fall madly in love with him

The only person who knows which of these it could be is the woman. She should react accordingly based on what she thinks the situation is.

As far as the company is concerned....are they supposed to follow this guy around all day to see what he might do?

Clearly, this is one tale that seems like it's...

full of hot air

YEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Weird story to say the least but IMHO, you should go after the employee if you feel he did something illegal or wrong...maybe with the help of your employer since you are both employees of the company.

They have already helped you by letting you watch the video.

But I don't see why you'd go after the company. Someone can let the air out of your tires anywhere. At least your company had cameras.

THere is too much weird and unexplained stuff in this story. :confused3

I hope that you are able to get the full details and put in a police report about the incident. If he in fact did tamper with the tire, he should be arrested and put on notice. I would not want to work with someone like this:headache:

More to the story. The place of employment is small. Think small store. And just the two of them working. Male has history of lying and creating drama. Company has been told so that if anything happens they cannot say they didn't know. The tape showed him kneeling down for over 2 minutes at the tire and he said he was checking the air pressure. Who carries a tire gauge randomly in their pocket? He told the boss the wrong pressure when questioned. And should he not have had permission to touch other person's car?

Nope, we don't know the story, but I would still caution this person to be careful. I worked with a young man once who is now on death row. NEVER in a million years would I have thought he was capable of what he did. He let the air out of someone's tire and then when she came to her car, he offered to drive her somewhere to get a new tire. He killed her instead. No matter how nice someone is, trust your gut. Ted Bundy comes to mind also. NOT saying anything like this applies here; just saying it does happen.

Oh my goodness! That is horrible!! :scared1:
