Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

Do you have the baggallini messenger bag? I'm starting to lean that direction and will keep looking for a good deal if I don't like the Vera

Yep, I do! I liked it so much I bought a second one this past year. It holds a LOT, plus had organizing pockets and a cell phone pocket on the strap so I can actually hear/feel my phone ring if it does. Not that I answer it on vacation, but....;) I even use it for my regular purse now, it's so awesome with a little one. I can fit some wipes and a diaper in the back pocket and all my stuff in the main one. I like that I'm not rooting around in a giant hole of a purse for my stuff!

I love my Baggallini messenger bags!! I have purple and periwinkle. I'm thinking of getting a DIS lime green or an orange, just for fun!

For this non US resident, is there any way I can get you to post a picture of the messenger bags and also tell me where I can get them? I like the lime green idea and have seen a bag here...but things are much more expensive in Oz (which is why I travel to the US so often) and I'm not convinced that it will hold all my junk...

I'm not able to post a photo now, but here is a link. It is NOT huge, but that is what I like about it. If you carry a lot of stuff, it might not be big enough for you.

Is anyone else having the Dis do strange things? It isn't updating for me for some reason. I didn't see any of yesterday's responses :confused3

*****************

I'm a Vera hipster kind of girl and that is definitely too small for what you want.....I am also bringing the bagallini that we talked about....the teardrop one but I am pretty sure I will use my hipster more. ;) It's the perfect size for me :goodvibes
75 days Katie!!!!! Pretty soon the 60's and then it will fly by!! :yay:

I can't wait Tracy!!!!!! I love the hipster and I think that if I were going in the summer, I would consider it but I have a feeling I will be cool in the evenings and will want a layer so I need room to carry that during the day.

I think I'm going to get it. The more I look at it, the more I think it will be just what I need. The cell phone pocket is a big seller (is that wierd ) just because I know that the boys will be calling and I don't want to miss them.

I'm thinking the lime green too but I do love purple

So my big question...is there a pocket big enough to carry a long-sleeve, light-weight denim shirt? If there is, the rest of my stuff will fit I'm sure!

It should fit in the main compartment, so it really depends on what else you carry.

Nope, not weird! That was a big benefit for me too. And now since I do Twitter updates via my cell while at Disney World, it's even easier to have it right there and handy.

Yep, a shirt will fit in there no problem, I've carried a shirt more than once in mine!

Love the giraffe print!

Nothing too bulky...small umbrella, first aid kit, sunglasses case, anitbacterial wipes, point and shoot camera and a couple assorted smaller items.

Oh yeah! I'm totally updating on FB from the parks since I recently added a data plan to my phone.

I love the giraffe but will probably go with the Dis-green :thumbsup2 I see e-bags now is doing 20% off so I may just go for it!

Glad you finally made it over Stace!! How is your trip coming? Any fun plans? I still can't believe we will miss each other by 1 day :guilty:

I know I know I know...I keep trying to think of ways that I could extend a day, but as it turns out I am needed in Indiana on May 1. Yes, that means I have to fly all the way home (well, to Detroit, then home to London), and then drive all the way down there by about hmm 11:30am on May 1. But, it's the Indianapolis march of Dimes walk for kids that my family does every year. So I'm afraid the extension plans won't work....:rolleyes:I guess it just means we'll have to go again another time! My trip is coming along fine! Everything is planned and now it's just the waiting period! I guess probably the most exciting thing planned is my Backstage Magic Tour! I've been wanting to take it for years and I'm finally doing it!

Thanks for the link and the photos. Love the giraffe and the lime green.

Mmm, might need to go shopping when I land in LA.
If it fits all these items, it might be just the thing I'm looking for.

You should order it and have it shipped to your hotel wherever you are staying first!

I just texted to Twitter and had the plug-in on FB so it would auto update FB too. Then we didn't have to bother with the cost of adding the data plan...unless of course you were already planning on it! :goodvibes

I have the black and the DIS-green! The green is fun!

Enjoying your PTR!!! I'll be at BWI 5/5 to 5/12. I'll be traveling with just my DS(9). I'll be leaving DH, DD(10), & DD(7) at home. My DH just isn't the Disney fanatic I am so we tend to go on a family trip once a year and then I take the kids one at a time. I leave a little present for those I leave behind-usually something to help keep them busy while I'm gone like a book or DVD. Then I bring them home something too. My kids know they will get their turn and they enjoy the one on one trips as much as I do.

When I first booked this trip I had Pop with DxDDP. My DS is my good eater and loves signature dining. I figured it made sense to try before he turned 10. Then I had a very rough December & January so I decided life was short and upgraded to CR MK view but then I decided I would really love BWI Club Level and it is my birthday so I dropped DxDDP.

Looks like our plans overlap a bit. We hope to hit Epcot when we arrive and hope to be able to get on Soarin as it opened 5/5/05 so we hope to be able to ride it on its birthday. Then we'll head to AK for EMH. AK is so beautiful in the dark!!! I rode EE 5 times in a row at EMH in December. It was awesome.

Then we'll be at MK for AM EMH on 5/6 and have a late breakfast at CP (I think around your time?-don't have my "color coded matrix of fun" with me right now). It is my birthday breakfast. We'll have dinner at CG.

I'm loving all this bag talk. I am always on the search for the perfect bag. I have an "almost" perfect backpack. Not huge and has 2 side water bottle holders but I hate the vertical zipper on the outside pocket. I like the idea of the baggalini messenger bag or the vera mail bag but don't think those will work well for me because I wear a dSLR around my neck. I have a Baggallini backpack but it is way too small. So the search for the perfect bag continues.;)

Isn't the obsession with travel sized toiletries funny? My current obsession is do I need an owner's locker and if so what do I stock it with??? Ahh the life of a DIS'er.
You could put full size toiletries in the OL box or LOTS of travel sized ones. I really like having an OL. I have extra chargers for my camera batteries, cell phone, kids nintendos; spare old glasses, hair brush, toiletries, laundry hamper; extra flip flops; glow sticks; ....must have a ton more because it is REALLY full.

Well...I guess I'll have to accept that reason  Wouldn't it be easier to fly into Indianapolis first? I guess that leaves you with no way to get home then huh? That's a lot of travel. Yes, we'll have to try for another time.

Oooh, that sounds like fun. I want to do a couple of those tours someday

You should be fine then!

I'm getting it :goodvibes

I'm still torn with which color :confused3

I'm not on twitter but I can FB to my hearts content. Funny that on my phone plan I will pay roaming minutes to talk from Florida but can spend my whole day online if I want (but I'll try to enjoy my vacation instead ;))

They have lots of fun colors! I love the purple and although I'm not normally a fan on orange, for some reason it feels like a fun vacation thing.

:welcome: I love that you are spending that special time with each kid! When I started thinking about this trip, I actually wanted to bring my 8 yo for a special mom/son vacation. DH didn't want him to miss school and didn't think it was fair to younger son (although I would then have planned on doing the same thing with him in a couple years) In truth, DH is still confused why I want to do this without any of the family. So the fact that I am taking this trip took a lot of convincing!

On my "if I ever win the lottery" list is to take each of the kids in my family (nieces and nephews too) on one-on-one trips.

What a fantastic trip!! Club level is also on my lottery list :thumbsup2 I didn't get to see BW/BC on my last trip so I am excited to wander that way this time. The pictures I have seen look so beautiful!

If you are still in Epcot at noon, join us at the tequilla cave for Cindo de Mayo margaritas! I think there are about 6 of us planning on it so far, it will be fun to meet everyone in person!

aww, I actually switced out CP breakfast to a few days earlier since I didn't want to do breakfast 2 days in a row.

I can't wait for CG!!!

It is so funny that I am even a part of a bag discussion because I have read them on other PTR's and thought "how silly, it's just a bag" but here I am eating my words

2 noteworthy things happened today!

1. I ordered a bag :cool1: I'll post a picture when it arrives. One very thoughtful Brookelizabeth offered me a small amount of a gift certificate she had won, used part of and wasn't going to use up so that cut the cost in about half so it should be arriving sometime next week

2. I read a thread on the parks forum that the dessert party may indeed be back for our trip :yay: Someone going in April has been calling disney dining every couple days and had been continuously been told nothing was known yet. Today she was told that the dining folks were told it is coming back in April but they couldn't take reservations yet because there was not a firm reopening date.

What's a dessert party???

This is something they did last summer at MK. Not sure what time it started but I believe you arrived at Noodleland Terrace at a certain time and there was a dessert buffet set up, all you can eat. You can "see" spectromagic from there (definitely not front row) and also watch wishes from there.

From what I heard the view was OK but the buffet was awesome. It was something like $20.

This is how we are hoping to spend our last night

Oh, I hope the dessert party is indeed coming back!!! Let me know as soon as you find out something for sure! I will be right behind you making a phone call!

That was nice of Brook!! :goodvibes

I too hope that the dessert party comes back - I really, really want to do this with mom. I've got my TA keeping her ears open for me as well - if I hear anything definite I'll let you know!
