Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

Hi Katie....

Just checking in to say 'Hi" :flower3: I finally bought my airline tickets for May. It took forever to find a price I was willing to pay. Usually I can get $155 RT, but I settled for $168 RT out of Baltimore. (those ticks are now well over $200) I, however, decided not to arrive early, but to arrive with the rest of my party on May 2nd. I think I really need to be home to make sure the teens are corraled before I go. So, I am still looking forward to our dinner together on Thursday!!!! And - oh yeah - our nighttime ride on EE!

Just wanted to say "Hi" and assure you that I am still alive and kicking. By the way - I am getting some extra cash for doing a side job, so I am hoping to use that money for Cirque tickets! Woot!

Oh, I hope the dessert party is indeed coming back!!! Let me know as soon as you find out something for sure! I will be right behind you making a phone call!

I too hope that the dessert party comes back - I really, really want to do this with mom. I've got my TA keeping her ears open for me as well - if I hear anything definite I'll let you know!

OK girls, we're in this together! :thumbsup2

MEK! I was wondering where you had disappeared to...

Sorry you won't be coming on the 1st. sounds like you got the best deal on your tickets you were gonna find! Are you doing MK on the 2nd? Maybe we can meet on Main St for Spectro and wishes!

can't wait to see the bag you bought!! I'm still debating what kind of bag to buy...

OOOOOHHHH I REALLY HOPE THE DESSERT PARTY COMES BACK!! Let's keep our fingers crossed and sprinkle some magic pixie dust!! :wizard:

Dessert party, yum!! And the bag, can't wait to see it, what a great deal!:thumbsup2

It was so sweet of her to offer! I'm excited to see it and do some packing tests

I will be watching everything and waiting for the news about the dessert parties :goodvibes

Attractions List Take 3 – Epcot

Must-Do

  • Soarin – love it!
  • Test track – love it!
  • Mission Space – did the green side in 2008 but would kind of like to try the orange. I’m thinking on the pm EMH night, I will get a fastpass and try it last thing of the evening so if it doesn’t sit well with me, I just have to get back to the resort and sleep it off
  • Spaceship Earth – can’t wait to see what my future holds in store
  • Illuminations – of course
  • Lots of exploring the world showcase pavilions! – does it count as drinking around the world if we accomplish it a couple drinks at a time? It might be fun to have a checklist to complete by the end of the week!

Also want to do
  • Living with the land
  • Turtle talk with Crush and exploring the Seas
  • Honey I shrunk the audience – I know it gets some bad reviews but I do want to cross it off my list
  • The live entertainment groups throughout the park

Would be willing to do - I haven’t done any of these and they are not high on my list but I am not opposed to any of them
  • Anything in the Innoventions buildings
  • Any of the world showcase movies/rides
  • Circle of Life – I have heard very little about this one

Don’t really care but would do if Beth wants to
  • Figment – did it, not excited to go again but I would
  • Universe of Energy

:thumbsup2 to Test Track and Soarin (My FAVE!) Did the orange side of Mission Space ONCE!

Turtle Talk with Crush is so cute. You really have to see it!

Excellent list...

I'm not planning on doing Mission Mars this time round. I normally have a cast-iron stomach but DH and I were green and grey respectively  when we got off the ride. Took us about 30 minutes to come back down to earth :goodvibes:

Love your Epcot list! I do think it counts as drinking around the world if you break it up over the week! :thumbsup2

Agreed! I'm such a bad drinker that I might have to split mine over a decade! :rotfl2: I think I've done 3 countries so far. Kind of pathetic considering I've been there twetny-two times in the last 7 years!

1. I ordered a bag :cool1: I'll post a picture when it arrives. One very thoughtful Brookelizabeth offered me a small amount of a gift certificate she had won, used part of and wasn't going to use up so that cut the cost in about half so it should be arriving sometime next week

What a nice DIS friend! :)

Turtle Talk with Crush is so cute. You really have to see it!

I really want to try the orange side but will really play it by ear when the time comes. I think the best plan is to do it late on the PM EMH night, but I also plan to finish my drinking around the world that night :lmao: so we will see!

We did turtle talk in 2008 and I enjoyed it. I hope Beth will want to but if for some reason she doesn't, that's OK too.

My stomach isn't really the problem...it's my ears (inner ear condition that can make me dizzy) If I'm doing well during the week, I'll give it a try but if I am bothered by other rides (teacups, astro orbiter, possibly soarin) I'll have to go with the green side

So, any idea how many we have coming to the Cinco de Mayo meet?

Hmm...
You
Me
Tracy (Manntra)
Princess in Oz (do I know her real name?)
Kacey (kcandbella)
Michelle (soonergirl)

Julez is arriving this day but I don't think will make it by noon
Mary Ellen are you joining us?
Keala will be there that week but I don't know about her
Loves Dumbo...how about you?

I know I have invited a couple more but not really sure if they will come or not. Should be a small crowd!

Love your Epcot list! I do think it counts as drinking around the world if you break it up over the week! :thumbsup2

Me too...I'm gonna have to cruise the disigns board to find a fun checklist. The ones I'm nervous about are Norway, America and Canada because I think they serve beer only (please correct me if I'm wrong) and I am a very minimal beer drinker. Maybe Beth and I will share those!

I have never had drinks in any of those countries, so I am not sure. I am not a beer drinker, so I wouldn't be able to check those off if that's all they serve.

Let me know if you find a fun checklist. ;) I'm pretty sure they all serve wine too if that is more appetizing. I think Norway may have hot toddy of some sort... a coffee drink maybe?

Can't believe you want to do Mission Space orange! :scared1: I won't even do green again - too small a space. I did not like it. And Gary Sinise is just creepy...

I didn't realize you had such a meet planned for Cinco de Mayo! Wish I could be there! I will have to make a margarita at home in your honor.

Edit: Hey- look what I found.

Funny that on my phone plan I will pay roaming minutes to talk from Florida but can spend my whole day online if I want (but I'll try to enjoy my vacation instead ;))

That is so weird! I don't understand cell plans sometimes. :rotfl: :confused3

I'm so happy to pass on the gift certificate to you!! :goodvibes Did you go with the DIS green? And that is FANTASTIC news about the dessert party!!!!! :hyper: I really, really, really hope they bring it back! It was such a wonderful way to enjoy Wishes!

Great Epcot list too! I've only done Mission: Space once, we did the orange side once and I was sooooo sick after, I swore to never do the ride again. We haven't been back, but Joe wants to try it again-he wasn't affected at ALL. I'll just hang in the gift shop with Henry!

Turtle Talk is adorable! If you can fit it in, it's a lot of fun. The kids ask such cute questions! I only saw HISTA once, and I barely remember it. I recall it being cute, but needing an update when compared to other 3D movies on property.

Your WS drinking checklist sounds like a smart and fun idea! That way you can remember the trip! I have to say that I personally find the green side of Mission Space somewhat boring. DBFF can't take the orange so I did green with her. It just wasn't the same. I don't notice the spinning motion...You should definately do Turtle Talk! I like the Circle of Life attraction. There really isn't much to it but it's cute and I love the characters! I have to say that I'm a Universe of Energy fan so that would be on my must-do list! I'll just tell my mum that Ellen is involved and she'll be keen! She's an Ellen super-fan! And I should also say, you should definately go see O Canada!:thumbsup2 Martin Short is pretty funny!

Good to know that the Dessert party might be back in April too! I really wanted to give it a try! I'll have to call them and see what's what!:goodvibes

Great list. BTW PolynesianLily (she's the one updating the Official May 2010 countdown where I 'bumped' into you) has her PTR thread up and I noticed that she was going to be in Epcot on the 5th. I wasn't sure if I should invite her or whether this DisMeet was a "smaller do"...

I can't wait to see your bag!

I love SSE. I would love to see more of the live entertainment groups throughout the park, too -- I've really only ever seen Off Kilter. I love them!

I'm pretty sure you're right about it only being beer in Norway, America, and Canada. I don't remember being interested in anything from those pavilions. I am also a very minimal beer drinker -- I prefer pretty mixed drinks. :cutie: I only ended up drinking a margarita on this trip, nothing interesting. I really, really wanted to try something from Rose and Crown, but we ate there on our arrival day, when I had been up since 3:30 AM, so I decided against it because I didn't want to fall asleep at the table.

I finally stood and watched Illuminations all the way through on our last night. We saw it a while ago, but no one else in my family was very interested in it, but I wanted to watch it, so I did, and I loved it! It doesn't wow me like Wishes, but I definitely will make it a point to watch it from now.

:welcome: I love that you are spending that special time with each kid! When I started thinking about this trip, I actually wanted to bring my 8 yo for a special mom/son vacation. DH didn't want him to miss school and didn't think it was fair to younger son (although I would then have planned on doing the same thing with him in a couple years) In truth, DH is still confused why I want to do this without any of the family. So the fact that I am taking this trip took a lot of convincing!

On my "if I ever win the lottery" list is to take each of the kids in my family (nieces and nephews too) on one-on-one trips.

What a fantastic trip!! Club level is also on my lottery list :thumbsup2 I didn't get to see BW/BC on my last trip so I am excited to wander that way this time. The pictures I have seen look so beautiful!

If you are still in Epcot at noon, join us at the tequilla cave for Cindo de Mayo margaritas! I think there are about 6 of us planning on it so far, it will be fun to meet everyone in person!

aww, I actually switced out CP breakfast to a few days earlier since I didn't want to do breakfast 2 days in a row.
The one on one trips with my children are really special! :wizard:Hope you win the lottery so you can do it with your boys and stay CL-so nice when you don't have an other adult with you.

Our plane doesn't land on 5/5 til 12:20 so I won't be able to make it to the mini meet. Maybe I'll hear you screaming on Everest that night!

You need to put Sum of All Thrills on your list. It is a new design your own roller coaster in the Innoventions closest to Test Track. It is so cool and so much fun!!!
