Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

Are you leaning toward any particular bag type?

I will be watching everything and waiting for the news about the dessert parties :goodvibes

No...not really. just something comfortable. and something my boyfriend will also carry when it's too heavy for me!! :rotfl:

love your list for Epcot...haven't been there in 11 years!!! I've been to WDW but we never went to Epcot...really looking forward to trying EVERYTHING...and the last time we did go to Epcot, we didn't even browse the countries...I can't wait! Oh, and let's not forget that the Flower&Garden Festival will be going on when I go! Can't wait to read more!!

I have to completely disagree with C LOL!!! Gary Sinise is a cutie and the #1 reason I go on Mission Space....ahhhh I could stare at him for hours!!!! LOL!!!

OOOH...a checklist for drinking around the world sounds like a lot of fun!!! Good luck with that...I wouldn't make it past Mexico LOL!!!

Can't wait to see your bag!!!

I have never had drinks in any of those countries, so I am not sure. I am not a beer drinker, so I wouldn't be able to check those off if that's all they serve.

It looks like Canada might be the only place I won't have a choice without visiting LeCellier which isn't in the cards. I can deal with 1 or 2 beers over the week!

Let me know if you find a fun checklist. ;) I'm pretty sure they all serve wine too if that is more appetizing. I think Norway may have hot toddy of some sort... a coffee drink maybe?

I didn't realize you had such a meet planned for Cinco de Mayo! Wish I could be there! I will have to make a margarita at home in your honor.

Edit: Hey- look what I found.

http://drinkaroundtheworld.net/

I had forgotten about that site, I have seen that before. I'll have to go back to explore.

I found someone who has made a passport (it's actually a small book, very cute!) I will have to look and see if I have your e-mail and I will forward it to you as a word doc. According to this person, America has a dacquiri option and Norway has "viking coffee" so that just leaves Canada as beer only

I love your fiesta smilie! And BTW, a FB friend tells me today is National Margarita day so let the celebration begin :thumbsup2

That is FANTASTIC news about the dessert party!!!!! :hyper: I really, really, really hope they bring it back! It was such a wonderful way to enjoy Wishes!

Great Epcot list too! I've only done Mission: Space once, we did the orange side once and I was sooooo sick after, I swore to never do the ride again. We haven't been back, but Joe wants to try it again-he wasn't affected at ALL. I'll just hang in the gift shop with Henry!

Turtle Talk is adorable! If you can fit it in, it's a lot of fun. The kids ask such cute questions! I only saw HISTA once, and I barely remember it. I recall it being cute, but needing an update when compared to other 3D movies on property.

Still waiting for news on the dessert party.

I keep telling myself that some people are like Joe and enjoy the orange side  I may be crazy but I do want to try it.

OK...OK, I'll move up turtle talk to a higher category!

I've heard the same thing about HISTA but still want to try it. If I miss it though, I won't be heartbroken

Your WS drinking checklist sounds like a smart and fun idea! That way you can remember the trip! I have to say that I personally find the green side of Mission Space somewhat boring. DBFF can't take the orange so I did green with her. It just wasn't the same. I don't notice the spinning motion...You should definately do Turtle Talk! I like the Circle of Life attraction. There really isn't much to it but it's cute and I love the characters! I have to say that I'm a Universe of Energy fan so that would be on my must-do list! I'll just tell my mum that Ellen is involved and she'll be keen! She's an Ellen super-fan! And I should also say, you should definately go see O Canada!:thumbsup2 Martin Short is pretty funny!

Good to know that the Dessert party might be back in April too! I really wanted to give it a try! I'll have to call them and see what's what!:goodvibes

See, I thought the same thing about the green side! It was OK, just not WOW! I don't really know a lot about Circle of Life but am willing to try it. Energy of life is less appealing because of the time commitment.

I'll have to let you know if we make it to O Canada!

Great list. BTW PolynesianLily (she's the one updating the Official May 2010 countdown where I 'bumped' into you) has her PTR thread up and I noticed that she was going to be in Epcot on the 5th. I wasn't sure if I should invite her or whether this DisMeet was a "smaller do"...

Open invite! She has put it on the first post so she does know about it but feel free to mention it. If you haven't seen it, I have started a thread for those planning to attend:

I love SSE. I would love to see more of the live entertainment groups throughout the park, too -- I've really only ever seen Off Kilter. I love them!

I'm pretty sure you're right about it only being beer in Norway, America, and Canada. I don't remember being interested in anything from those pavilions. I am also a very minimal beer drinker -- I prefer pretty mixed drinks. :cutie: I only ended up drinking a margarita on this trip, nothing interesting. I really, really wanted to try something from Rose and Crown, but we ate there on our arrival day, when I had been up since 3:30 AM, so I decided against it because I didn't want to fall asleep at the table.

I finally stood and watched Illuminations all the way through on our last night. We saw it a while ago, but no one else in my family was very interested in it, but I wanted to watch it, so I did, and I loved it! It doesn't wow me like Wishes, but I definitely will make it a point to watch it from now.

I caught just a bit of off kilter and the chinese acrobats in 2008. I would really like to see the Jamitors and the candy lady in Japan too.

Probably a good call at R&C! I'm a mixed drinks drinker too

If I HAD to pick between wishes and Illuminations, I would go with Wishes but I really love all fireworks/parades so they are taking a top priority on this trip

You need to put Sum of All Thrills on your list. It is a new design your own roller coaster in the Innoventions closest to Test Track. It is so cool and so much fun!!!

Sounds fun! Maybe you'll still all be there drinking when we arrive round 2.

I have heard of Sum of all Thrills. That would be the one thing to really draw me in. I hope to at least wander through innoventions a bit and see what is there.

Our only plans that day are breakfast, the dismeet then to get to AK. If we miss the parade the day before, we will want to be there in time for that but it is possible we will still be around. Otherwise, look for us at AK!

Too funny about your BF! I picked my last bag with the same thing in mind but hubby didn't carry it once (but was happy to let me put things in it for him :lmao:)

I keep forgetting that F&G will be going on and to make sure we take the time to just wander too!

I have to completely disagree with C LOL!!! Gary Sinise is a cutie and the #1 reason I go on Mission Space....ahhhh I could stare at him for hours!!!! LOL!!!

I would have to say I fall somewhere between you and C on my opinion of Gary Sinise :lmao: Not creepy but I can't look at him and not see Sgt Dan!

There is no way I would attempt the drinking around the world in a day but I figure spread out over the week it will be kind of fun!

For anyone wanting to come to the Cinco do Mayo meet, if you missed it in the previous post, I have started a thread for everyone to introduce themselves, pop over and say Hi!

Sorry you won't be coming on the 1st. sounds like you got the best deal on your tickets you were gonna find! Are you doing MK on the 2nd? Maybe we can meet on Main St for Spectro and wishes!

Definately going to MK on the 2nd, so :cool1: let's meet up! Perfect. We have dinner ADRs at 7:15 at the Wave and then we are heading into MK! Can't wait - I can't believe how close it is getting now!!!!! :woohoo:

I'm disappointed I'm not coming early, too. But I've decided to do what I'm most comfortable with. I hate that my trips have to be short, but its just temporary!

We will be tripping over each other at The Wave and then at MK :rotfl2: remember I have an ADR there Sunday but I think a bit earlier. I will be on the lookout for you there :goodvibes I think this is the night that Ellen is doing her monorail drinking tour too :rotfl2: Are you enjoying your Mac? I still love mine and hate my pc at work more and more every day! Phew that you got your airline tickets....I would have been so nervous waiting until now but you have a lot of good airports around you for choices. :thumbsup2

Katie I can't wait to meet your new bag....and I am glad that you now fully understand the importance of bag talk :rotfl2: that was so wonderful of brook to pass that along to you  I am getting more and more excited for this trip....especially now that we are in the 60's!! I still have to book a room for our Saturday stay (the 1st.) I can get a decent AP rate and it will be split between the two of us so I don't know why I am dragging my feet at doing it. :confused3 The frugal part of me (it's a very small part) says to stay at Pop because we are landing at 7:30pm but the :hyper: wants to stay at Riverside. It really is only a place to stay and my intention is just to get to the room and over to DTD to shop so I should just book Pop and get it over with. Thanks for letting me write all of this and now I actually might do it. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I know! I wanted an earlier ADR, but believe it or not, that was all that available. I didn't want to make it too early cause I hadn't purchased my flights. So maybe we will head over there early for a cocktail! yum!

I usually don't wait this long to book flights, but SWA's prices have been really high. I missed booking the first time they dropped. And the prices out of Philly - way too high unless you fly first thing in the morning or late at night. I can't fly early because I have a tendency to have trouble sleeping the night before I go away and that can translate into "up all night". So I am satisfied with our flights and times. Plus I like BWI, even though Denny doesn't.

My mac is awesome. I'm really using it mostly for garage band and for the iphoto. Im using my PC for most other things. Its a 17inch monitor, so its a bit big to lug around. I bought it used, so I still want to upgrade the operating system and get the newest versions of iLife. I was really hesitant about buying an older mac and was worried that I might regret not bying a new one. But so far, so good and the mac is so much cooler than a pc. I just can't believe it. Anyway - it still has the applecare left on it so I guess if I mess up the upgrade the apple store can fix it. haha!

Katie - thanks for the hijack!

It's a date!! We have 5:00 ADR's at Biergarten then will head over to MK

My bag should arrive today or tomorrow. I'll post pictures when it gets here

did you book? What did you decide?

Katie - thanks for the hijack!

 No problem!

Katie, you can come on up and drink in Canada anytime! I'll make you polar bear shots! :)

Which leads to the question...what is in a polar bear shot?

A few odds and ends this week:

I got our new Disney visa cards in the mail this week. When I called to activate them I actually talked to a person (quite surprising!) She commented on the rewards money we have accumulated and asked when we are travelling again. I figured this was as good a time as any to have them send me the gift card so that should be arriving in the mail in the next few days. :thumbsup2

Many of you probably saw on MeMom’s TR that she and Jill are taking a quick trip for Mother’s Day weekend. I am SO excited!! :yay: They will arrive on Friday night and be there all day Saturday so hopefully I will get to meet them and those beautiful girls!

I’m thinking about clothes this week and thought I would post some pics of the shirts I already have. These were Christmas gifts

012.jpg

I found these in a box recently. I’ve had them for years but they still look mostly new, don’t even know why I haven’t been wearing them.

013.jpg

014.jpg

I also have been enjoying the Disigns forum and have found a number of cute things. I’m debating whether I should just take the shirts above and plan on doing a load of wash mid-week or if I want to make a few more shirts. I’m fairly craft-impared so I’m nervous at the thought of making my own

Finally….look what arrived today!!

015.jpg

Yes, I couldn’t resist the Disboard green :) I have already done a trial pack. In the large pocket I have my long-sleeve shirt, umbrella and autograph book. My phone is in the strap pocket, sunglasses in one of the side pockets and camera bag attached to the strap for easy access.

In another pocket I have markers for autographs, a pen flashlight, antibacterial wipes and first aid kit

016-1.jpg

I still need to add a pack of gum and a few ziplock bags. There is another pocket on the back for a map and daily schedule. I also would like to find a small pouch to attach to that strap that can hold my KTTW card for those EMH times.

I think this bag is going to work out great! It’s not too big or too heavy and isn’t stuffed full.

That looks like a great park bag! Good choice.

As far as doing laundry vs packing more shirts - I'd pack more, I don't do laundry on vacation! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: your bag looks great and I can't believe you already have stuff in it!! :rotfl2: I always have ziplock bags....I'm a bit obsessive about them when packing and traveling :sad2:
I booked at Pop yesterday :goodvibes Have never stayed there before and am excited to try and get a refurbished room. Thinking about requesting the 70's since that is the decade I was born in and all :rotfl2: I think our flight lands at 7:30 then I plan on heading over to DTD to get some shopping out of the way ;)
Oh and I like your shirts :goodvibes and I hear you about being creatively impaired :rotfl2: I look at all of those designs and think I would love to do it but I just don't see it happening :confused3

Love all your shirts. Those are great! Cannot believe you have your park bag partially packed already. Wow! :worship:

Have I mentioned how much I would love to spend cinco de mayo in Disney???? If only.

Love all your shirts especially the first two! I would have had to "test" out the new bag, too.

I am very jealous that you will get to meet MeMom and Jill while you are down there.

Love your shirts! LOVE your bag. I am still on the search for a perfect bag! I just can't wear a message bag or crossover bag while wearing my camera around my neck. I'm very interested in the Eagle Creek Travel Bug:

http://www.ebags.com/eagle_creek/tr...ductid=1312461&color=Palm&sourceID=ADWPRODUCT

I went to an REI store last night to try to see it because they have them online but they didn't have it in the store. I did buy my DD(10) a nice 3 in one jacket on clearance for $24.99. Then tonight I went to an EMS because they have it on their website but they didn't have it either. BUT...they did have a simular message bag so I could see all the features which I really liked. AND...they had Croc Maryjanes for DD(10) for $2.98.:thumbsup2 DD is really making out in this bag search.:rotfl:

I did find the bag on amazon for $39 with free shipping. I need to decide if I want it in black or brown (for that price).

I was going to go to Target at lunch to see what bags they had but it was so foggy out that I didn't think it was a good idea to be driving on the highway to go looking for a bag that I really probably don't even need.:rolleyes1

That's a cute bag Katie! I think I'm just gonna decorate my old one (which I know works well for me!) with new patches or something! Maybe I'll just leave it plain..who knows yet! I haven't gotten down to the nitty gritty packing planning yet! It's hard to judge how that FL weather will be! So many friends have just come home saying how cold it is! Your shirts are cute too! Cinderella may be outta luck when you're the belle of the ball! ;)

Oh and Polar Bear shots:
1/2 oz white creme de cacao
1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
Preparation:
Pour the liqueurs into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well.
Strain into a shot glass.
They're not my personal favourite but they're the most Canadian one I could think of off the top of my head! :)

Great bag Katie! It looks so fresh and clean. I have the same one in light, pale blue and it looks like it has been through WWII.

I have to start thinking about bags soon. More to add to the To DO list!

My very own Disney grump I'm sure will just look like this :sad2: if I buy/make more shirts. I don't mind the idea of doing laundry but I'm not sure when I would squeeze it in. Maybe I'll have to do a trial suitcase pack!

:woohoo: your bag looks great and I can't believe you already have stuff in it!! :rotfl2: I always have ziplock bags....I'm a bit obsessive about them when packing and traveling :sad2:

I don't blame you for doing Pop for the first night. Honestly, if I weren't splitting the cost of CSR with Beth, that's where I would stay.

I found a really cute idea where someone got a plain t-shirt, traced a mickey head in chalk then used a bleach pen to make a spiral pattern for the head and ears. they turned out really cute! I think that I can handle, I'm less convinced on the iron-on thing.

Love all your shirts. Those are great! Cannot believe you have your park bag partially packed already. Wow! :worship:

Have I mentioned how much I would love to spend cinco de mayo in Disney???? If only.

Yes...I am the anti-Christine :lmao:

Hmm...I think there will be an extra chair in the tequila ditch with your name on it :rolleyes1

I love the park bag! I also did the trial packing with my park bag before we left.

Thanks for making me feel less crazy! (I actually am thinking of taking it with me to run errands today to test it out...OK, maybe I am crazy )

Love all your shirts especially the first two! I would have had to "test" out the new bag, too.

I am very jealous that you will get to meet MeMom and Jill while you are down there.

See...I'm not TOO crazy!

I can't believe they are coming too!

I love those small backpacks, I considered those too!

Sounds like you have done plenty of shopping for others! I always think it's funny when you wander into a store with nothing in mind then they ask you at check-out if you found everything. "gee, I guess I did!"

I THOUGHT my old bag would do but here I am  What's funny is, I started the search for a new bag because I had something specific in mind that it wouldn't work. Now I have modified that idea and it turns out it would have been fine :upsidedow Oh well, I'm in love with my new one now!

I'm nervous about the weather. I hope it's more on the warm/dry side but you just never know.

That shot sounds really yummy :thumbsup2

honestly, I look forward to it getting just a bit dirty. The green is a nice color but borders on neon in intensity and I'm not a fan (even as a child of the 80's, I was never into the neon craze)
