Las Vegas with teens

I've only ever been there for conventions - and both times saw topless women on the strip! Around 7 in the evening!
Headed back in Feb., we'll see if occurs for a third time!
Interesting. I’ve been there half a dozen times with kids and probably a dozen times without and have never seen a topless woman outside on the strip.

And the card flappers have always been respectful with kids around. They pull them back if I’m walking by with my kids.

I understand that some people don’t want to go with kids and that is perfectly fine. But there are some of us who have done it and had a great time.

that’s great, and there are families that live in my area too and we have plenty of family fun, But I wouldn’t recommend anyone planning entire vacation around visiting good old Langhorne PA.

I think that it's gotten better over the years as the big casinos figured out that they didn't need to limit themselves to an adults only business model. It's not as if it's perfect, but I never really worried about finding enough things to do with a child. At a younger age we had a membership in a children's museum that would have gotten us into one in Vegas. And the casinos figured out that there are plenty of families where they might want to attract business.

The MGM Grand and Treasure Island were probably the first of the new wave of casinos that did that. They used to have a theme park at MGM.

Yup been to Montreal a couple times as have the kids. Love it there.
I do want to do a Washington DC trip sometime so maybe that's an option. Atlanta is a good suggestion too !
I just love exploring a new city.

Well, if Washington DC is on the list, you could try to see next year's Cherry Blossom Festival...if it's all about a cheap trip, between the free events for the festival and the free attractions in DC, you'll get by cheap. The only thing is the weather can be iffy...but that can be said for pretty much any east coast state north of Florida in that month...

Might not bother someone who just went through a Canadian winter.

Ohhh I like the sound of the Cherry Blossom Festival!
Meh I'm not worried about weather. If I was we would be flying to an AI in Mexico.

The Cherry Blossom festival is really cool. Spring is the best time of year year visit DC. I'd go there with older teens a million times over Las Vegas. There are a lot of interesting things to see there. If you do go, definitely don't miss the BIG air and space museum near Dulles Airport. It's really great.

If you choose DC, I would actually recommend staying on the VA side vs staying in DC proper - it makes hitting that air and space museum and some of the Arlington attractions easy, and VA has a lot of good value hotels in nice areas with great evening eating options and easy DC mass transit options. That, and you fly into VA anyway (both Dulles and Reagan National are in VA, and are the closest DC airports)...

Yes but the ones we encountered weren’t aggressive about it
I've never found them to be necessarily 'aggressive', just incessant. They just keep slapping their cards, pretty much right up to you. And then the next one is 10 feet from that guy. It's like they are saying, 'my escort, hooker, ***** is better than that next guy's up the sidewalk a bit'. It gets tiring.
Do wood chucks chuck wood?

Of course.
Wood chucks do indeed chuck wood.

NOLA will have as many "adult behavioral problems" for teens as Vegas will in March, since that's the heart of Mardi Gras season. Just so you're aware. I think you should stick to your 1st plan b/c you picked it for a reason:)...

Not in 2022. Mardi Gras is March 1st, so all the merriment will end there. March is going to be dead slow next year in terms of public revelry, as Jazz Fest isn't until April.

DC in Spring is really nice, but it's popular, so hotel and flight prices tend to run a bit high.

Washington may the winner!
Family likes that idea.
Leave LV for a future couples trip and NOLA for when we cruise.
Good choice. You could even extend the trip down to VA and spend a day or two @ BGW...and take in the historic sites. BGW is second only to Disney in terms of how nice the park is IME.

You aren't missing anything in Vegas IMHO. All hat, no cowboy. Hoover dam is a nice side-trip as-is Red Rocks. But the strip? HARD pass from me. It gets worse from there.

BGW is usually closed except for select weekends (and the week before and after Easter) from Jan-Apr. That said, Colonial Williamsburg and the historic sites are always open all year.

Were the gals plying their trade or were they on their way to a job?
I think they were acting as their own advertisement. At least that’s what I’m assuming considering they were also wearing bikini bottoms fishnets high heels and were caring leather whips and wearing dominoes or whatever those masks were and that was all they were wearing-

I absolutely love Vegas. My husband and I go at least once a year by ourselves. We also go at least yearly for my daughter’s volleyball and have a blast. I wouldn’t go as a stand alone family vacation, but you can absolutely do family appropriate activities while there.

Thinking that many of those attractions won't be open in March anyhow.
If you can think of anything else that teen boys would like in Canada in March let me know. I'm out of ideas. We just want to go somewhere over spring break. Probably our last spring break getaway with our oldest as he will be on a college schedule the following year.

We could do DL over spring break rather than wait for summer. Debating that.

Chicago in March? Figure some things there will be seasonal - Navy Pier. etc. Maybe?
Great Wolf Lodge is fun and has some bigger slides/attractions for teens. It’s in Niagara, but you could find one in the USA somewhere too. I find it’s stupid pricey but for a vacation may be ok.

They are usually there to sell photo ops. The ones we always see are dressed like "showgirls" and they charge people for a photo with them.
