Larger women in bikinis?

Nope I am a woman and I am embarrassed for women who let it all hang out when they should not. You should dress for your body type and if you have fat rolls keep them covered.

No, YOU should dress the way YOU feel is appropriate. You don't get to make rules for anyone else. I don't wear clothing that I find unflattering but that is my own choice that I make for myself. I am not embarrassed for anyone, not unless there is a malfunction, but that is another story.

Yes you can have a small bottom and have a fat rolls on your tummy and upper body. I can't imagine why over weight women think that is OK to dress like that and it is kind of hard to ignore huge eyesore like that. I also question parents who allow their daughters who are over weight to run around in bikinis. Why set your kid up for failure like that in public? It is great to be comfortable in your own skin or with your body type but in that same aspect covering up areas that should be covered is be important.

Oh my goodness! I guess that I should decide the length of hair older women should have, or if people should color their hair to get rid of the gray. Ot how about colors and patterns on clothing.....back to moo moos for overweight women?

This is ridiculous, there is a reason that we have so many eating disorders among young women and I believe that the "constructive" judging has something to do with it.

I thnk it depends on the body type, not necessarily the size you wear. Some people should not wear bikinis period. I am 5'9" and a size 8 but no way should I wear a bikini...3 kids, each with a 50 lb weight gain, 1 c-section and a hysterectomy...my belly should never be exposed to the public :lmao:

This is me exactly. It's not the size of the person, but the overall shape of the body. I work out and I'm in shape, but some things will never be the same as when I was 20. I think people should wear what they want, but my bikini days are long gone!

We are talking about over weight people in bikinis and just like you think it is ok to let it all hang out I think it is not ok! I never said they should not wear swimsuits or should be forced to wear moo moos but dress appropriately for your size and you can do this in a very stylish and fashionable way!

IMOP if the size of you bathing suit is double digits then you probably shouldn't be wearing bikini! A one piece, tankini, a two piece with a skirt yes string bikini NOOOOOO!!! Sorry but it is gross and I cringe every year when we head out to pool on post because young Army wives are the worst offenders!! If I can see your csection scar your swimsuit is probably not appropriate for a public pool!

Yes they are haha!

And there is nothing inappropriate with overweight people in bikinis. You are talking about what YOU feel is wrong, not what IS wrong. Just because you don't want to see it, doesn't mean its inappropriate to show it :thumbsup2

I'ma larger woman and Iwouldn't wear a 2 piece but Ihave no problem with someone who wants to.
Gives me something to observe when I am at the pool. ;)

Well the thing is there are tons a websites and Facebook pages making fun of these women and I am not sure why anyone would be ok with them being the butt of jokes but as long as they continue to think a bikini is in their best interest the more ammo they give to these people!

Because the ones wearing the bikinis are proud and confident and don't give a hoot what other think about them.
Do you think only thin people should be that way :confused3

There are tons of websites and Facebook pages that make fun of everything and everyone, including people who stay at fake Polynesian style hotels in the middle of Central Florida. While I don't wear a bikini, I also don't live my life in fear of what some faceless internet twits might say about me.

But why do YOU care so much what someone else chooses to wear? How does an overweight person in a bikini effect you?

I never said I really cared the question was asked if you think they should I gave my opinion and you and few others are judging me for judging others which seems somewhat ironic! Go naked if you want to but don't cry when you end up on the people of wAl mart or fat girls in bikinis!

I don't care what other people wear. I was trying to point out that these "rules" that determine that clothing, hair styles or patterns are appropriate for someone's age, weight or size are arbitrary and subjective. There is a vast difference between saying that you would not wear that article of clothing and saying that someone else should not wear it.

It is my opinion that if someone wants to wear a bikini and is overweight, that is not my concern. If I choose not to wear that bikini, that is my concern. I personally do not like speedos on any man, but I would never suggest that guy not wear it.

I could care less what anyone else wears to the pool/beach or anywhere else for that matter. It doesn't affect me what so ever.

I'm curious how everyone here feels about overweight women and bathing suits. Do you think it's ok for overweight/obese women to wear a bikini top
and swim shorts?

Is it OK, or allowed? Absolutely! How do I feel about it? (Your question - my answer) Women know how they really look, and 'when' they should stick to a one piece - also age doesn't matter - it's the weight and looks. So, no, I wouldn't think from that standpoint that they should. Actually, I think everyone looks better in a trim one piece. But, again, 'you asked' :goodvibes

You still didn't answer my question, why do you care what someone else wears to the beach? How does it effect you?
You said you are embarrassed for them, yet clearly they are not embarrassed themselves, so really why should they not wear a bikini (that is your opinion, correct) if doesn't effect you personally? You said they should cover things up because it was inappropriate not to. I'm just trying to figure out why someone would have that opinion when it doesn't effect them in any way shape or form.

This doesn't sound like it comes from someone who doesn't care:

Oh boy...is that ever the truth. ;)

I tend to think poorly of those who would take photos of someone whose body type is not "perfect" or "bikini ready" (who decides this anyway?) with the intention of mocking them, rather than thinking poorly of the person whose body is being mocked.

I'll jump in if you don't mind.
Do I care what others wear? no
Have I made comments when I see a dress style I guess you could describe as questionable? yes I have. Do I walk up to the person and say something? of course not.

You have never seen an outfit on some one and questioned whether or not they owned a mirror? (this is the dis so I'm sure some one will post how they never ever say any thing disparaging about strangers).

Well I totally admit to my bad habits.
I have seen folks in dresses three sizes too small and thought up the line from steel magnolias.

Truvey: I'll bet you money she paid 500 dollars for that dress and don't even bother to wear a girdle.
Claree: looks like two pigs fighting under a blanket.
Truve: Well I haven't left the house without lycra on these thighs since I was 14.
