Hi Canadians!
I know this forum is for Canadians and covid issues for citizens/residents, but I have one question for a foreign citizen maybe somebody can answer. Assuming things do not change for April, we are flying in fully vaxxed from Germany to Vancouver to board the Wonder to Hawaii. Right now we need a PCR test pre-flight.

my quesion is the following: What are your experiences at airport vs land border entry points when it comes to additional screening beside what the App requires?

I ask as I have learned that border control can and will do random check at airports and require additional testing plus quarantine waiting for results. This is making me think maybe we fly into the US first, and enter via Seattle, if our chances of additional screening is less. I assume we would still need to show PCR test there.

Just to be clear we are fully vaxxed and have no issue getting a PCR when we fly in. We are concerned we are selected and stuck in a quarantine waiting for additional test results and miss our ship.

thanks!

April is a long time away, things will change before then.

Yes, if you enter from anywhere other than the US you are very likely to require a PCR test done on arrival, as of today. If you cross from the US via the land border I believe you have to have a PCR test done in the US currently. Right now, Omicron is the worry, but given it's due to peak in late January/early February, who knows what will change at that point.

Personally, I think they'll have to adjust things if they have cruises going from Canada, but no one can say what's going to happen. April is too far away to guess at this point.
