Ladies, A Delicate Waxing Question

Um, :o Can I ask Hillbeans, danacara and MScott1851 one thing - what happens when, oh shall we say a few weeks has gone by and you have not repeated the experience? I can only imagine the level of discomfort. Are you permanently addicted after having it done once in fear of ever going through the grow back?

LOL - first of all, there was NO funny yoga positions involved and it really wasn't that embarassing. I'm sort of used to getting the regular one done, so this was just a bit more - um shall I say detailed? I didn't have to sit on all fours or anything that some people may expect - LOL, I couldn't even imagine doing THAT.

The woman who did this told me she's the best and that people come to her from NYC (this was in central NJ).

It does not hurt when it grows back. It's much softer and much less regrowth than shaving. TMI, sorry.

This whole thread is TMI buuuuuutttt I was just curious..........

No, in fact not at all. For some reason waxing makes it softer.

Yes, this whole thread is definitely TMI! And so, of course, the chairman of my company just wandered in and started reading it! Thankfully, my chairman is a woman with a sense of humor except now SHE's asking me questions about it.

Castlegazer - shhhh, don't tell Ed - We'll end up with another thong party!

..you have them install a wick and you can double as a nice Brazilian candle...

Does anyone know where I can go for Brazilian Bikini Wax Training? After this thread, I'm considering a career change.

If you don't mind sharing, can you tell me where you went. I live in Central Jersey sort of and I am desperately looking for a new place to get my waxings done.

It was Avanti Spa in Manalapan NJ - if you're near the shore, it's not far at all. Mind you, it wasn't cheap. My regular girl (who was away) is at a salon in Edison called "About Faces", and she charges about $20 less.

And LOL - i'm not sure where they go for their training, but I can assure you, i'd never be a "test dummy" at one of these schools.

About the procedure! She's in her 40s and is planning a long beach vacation so she wanted to know about it.

I can't believe this thread has lasted this long. Look at everything you learn on the DIS!

Meanwhile, Traci-lyn AND everyone here is welcome to our next thong party (that Ed's throwing and paying for) over on the Homeless Diser's Set Sail. You must bring your own thong, however, and waxings for this party are probably a good idea!

Oh and by the way, we have our own spa on the Homeless Dis'r ship with waxing "technicians" - BUT, you may be able to go for training over there wdwoldtimer! :hyper: I won't be a guinea pig, though. Ilovepcot may be able to loan you Carlos (her personal assistant) to give it a try on

Come on over everyone - at least you can try out a waxing in a pretend life and see if you like it for thongs and then get up the nerve to try it in real life.

Am I one of the few that gets this done? I've been getting brazilians for 6 months and love them. Took me a year to get the nerve up, but now I look forward to getting them done.

It does hurt, but just for a second. Literally like getting a bandaid snatched off. My girl takes it all off in 15 mins and then I'm hair free for at least two weeks. And the skin is soo soft...I love it. So does FI. :)

You do have a grow-in period which stinks. And you can't be modest at all...she's pretty much all in your business. And I have it ALL taken off, which means YES, I get on all fours. :O

I recommend them to anyone, but only if you keep them up every 4-5 weeks. Its an expensive habit to take up. I pay $60 every month!

vettechick99,
It does seem you are one of the few brave souls on this board to have done it. (Either that or no one else is admitting to it!)

My hats off to your confidence level and nerve - you've got to have it to go through this procedure, especially for the first time. I would imagine it gets easier in time, particularly if you have the same technician.

Now if they could start offering this as an add-on service during my OB-GYN exam, they might convince me!

I just did the search for the info. For me, this is just wrong on so many levels, PAIN and MODESTY being in the top 5. Now, maybe if I could get an epidural and a shot of demoral.....::yes::
