Kona pancake question

Hi everyone! :wave2:

I am getting ready for my trip to the world (5 days!!!) and I have an ADR for breakfast at Kona Cafe. After reading all the reviews I am looking forward to it.

I have a question about the pineapple macadamia pancakes. I understand that they are available as either a full order or in a smaller portion as part of the big kahuna breakfast.

I believe I read somewhere on this site that there is a difference between the two...being that the full order has the nuts actually cooked into the pancakes, but the ones that come in the big kahuna do not (they just have the pineapple and macadamia butter on top but no nuts in the pancakes)

I know this seems like a silly thing to worry about :rolleyes2 but I was wondering if anyone could confirm whether this is true or not. :confused3

thank you!! :goodvibes

That is true! I really enjoyed the pancakes with the big kahuna, but found that the larger pancakes with the macadamian nuts in the batter were just ok. There were so many nuts in my batter! There was something strange about eating a crunchy pancake lol!

I am sure you could order the pancakes-only entree with regular pancakes if you would prefer them that way.

The macadamia nut pancakes are made with nuts in the batter and topped with the pineapple macadamia nut butter. The Big Kahuna includes plain pancakes with pineapple and macadamia nut butter on top.

its actually better that way...my opinion

You guys just made me place a breakfast ADR at Kona just because of all that Macademia Pineapple Pancake talk

They are different, I knew this before we went last time.

My son got the macadamia nut pancakes and I got the big Kahuna.
we then swapped the pancakes, so he got the plain ones.

Both were nice but the nut ones were very filling, especially with the big kahuna. Next time I just plan to order the nut pancakes myself. :)

Thanks everyone!! :thanks:

I think I really want the nuts.
I'm going next Sunday and can't wait!

For all of those who are now going to Kona as a result of this thread (lol),
enjoy your breakfast!! :goodvibes

Yes, you're correct. We've also had both and while the macadamia nut butter on top is good, we really think the nuts in the pancakes add a lot to the pancakes.

I ended up ordering the pancakes with the nuts in them. :)

Thinking about the price of macadamia nuts at my local grocery store and the amount of nuts in these pancakes, they must be worth about $40!! :teeth:

That was a lot of nuts!! They were awesome!

However, I would suggest sharing them, as most people would not be able to finish them....very filling.

I know that was correct for last year and I believe they are still doing that this year.

The version that comes with the Big Kahuna is served with the macadamia butter.
