How does it work? Is there a minimum purchase to spend them ex. to redeem $20 you must spend $50.

no, if you find something for $20-use your Kohls cash. You would just have to pay the tax.

It is virtually the same as using cash. You just can not use them to buy gift cards or Kohl's cares items.

Just remember that if you return something on the original purchase that earned the Kohl's cash, it will invalidate it - or if you have already spent it, they will ding you on the return. The way around this is if you need to return from that original purchase, ask for store credit - like a gift card - not money back (and not applied to your charge card), and your Kohl's cash will not be compromised.
