Kim's new and improved life journal!

Thanks for stopping by LauraJean! That's a whole lotta reading to catch up on this journal! ;) Yes, it's been a struggle, but definitely worth every minute. I have definitely slacked off this week...but after watching TBL on tv last night...I really want to get back into focusing on myself again.

I have that 5K scheduled for Sunday, so I am absolutely, positively getting out there to run again tomorrow. Even if it's just for a 30 minute run.

It's gonna be a late dinner tonight, after cheering and soccer. Hopefully I'm not starving and make bad choices. Guess tonight would have been a good crockpot night! (hindsight and all :sad2: )

Have a good one, all!

I just wanted to drop by and wish you all the best on your run on Sunday. No doubt you'll do well! Now that TBL is back.....we'll all have that great motivation. Have a great couple weeks!

Kim-
You will do great on Sunday--I cant wait to hear about it! (meaning, get online when you get home or i better hear my phone ringing ;))

I hope you enjoyed Greys anatomy ( and you better not tell me you didnt watch it!)

You knew it was a big TV night for me. I'll DEFINITELY watch it when I get home from work!!! I'm dying to know what happened. I didn't watch ER either. UGH!

Survivor was good as always. Earl was a little disappointing - I usually have some big belly laughs from that show...not last night. But the office always delivers!! Good stuff! :thumbsup2 (yes, I know....what a sad, sad life!!)

You didn't laugh at Earl?? WTH woman?? Just watching the facial expressions kills me!!! And what about Randy doing the Lollipop song!!! OMG!!!! :rotfl2:
ER was good....gonna be the same ol' story lines as before, but I'll try to watch it anyway!!

And yes, we all live a sad, sad life....not as sad as yours, but sad nonetheless!!!

LOVE YA!!! :teeth:

Hi Kim!!!!

I'm baaacckkk LOL!

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck today with your 5k!! I'll come back and post more later :)

Well......

The good news is I have another 5K under my belt! The bad news is...wasn't such a good run. MAN, was it HOT out there!! :sunny:

First I gotta say, I'm proud of myself for getting up so early & driving an hour. That's HUGE for me. I never really get to sleep in, but I still can't believe I did that for a run. Especially considering last night I had some of the worst stomach pains I've ever had. But I forced myself to go to sleep and I was fine when I woke up at 5:30. I was on the road at 6 and picked up my friend Janine. We made it up (over?) to Philly in just under an hour (thanks to her GPS). We did a little walk around the area to see all of the tents set up for the individuals teams (you were given a tent if you had more than 75 people on your team). We were members of the Hurrican Andrew team for a co-worker's friend's son Andrew, who is 2 and has brain cancer. He was there, and such a sweety.

The morning kept getting warmer and warmer, and we ran in the bright sun for the entire 3 miles. The course was mostly flat with the exception of one hill. Janine and I ended up walking at around 1.5 miles, then ran again. We ended up walking another 2 times, but our walk time was probably no more than 3 minutes. We ran the last 1/2 mile, and I'd say the last 1/4 of mile we really sprinted. I know I passed at least 5 people - something kicked in from somewhere!! :rotfl:

We both finished (according to my watch) in just under 36 minutes. We did have chips to attach to our laces, so our official times will be on the website.

Afterwards, there was a HUGE spread of breakfast foods and juices. We waited probably 1/2 hour after the run to get in line for food (couldn't imagine putting anything in my stomach) and when we did I stuck to just scrambled eggs.

I'm happy to say that just team Hurricane Andrew alone rasied $10,000!! And there were 25 teams!! I'm confident this was a successful fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia!!!

Welcome back Scott!! We missed ya! Just wanted to fill you in - we did run down the Ben Franklin Parkway, by the steps at the Art Museum (complete with a Rocky impersonator telling us he'll have raw eggs waiting for us at the end) :rotfl:

Oh, and DD's been wanting to run with me. So when I got home, I set out to run down the street with DD and DS!! :rotfl2: That was a sight to see!! My legs were sore, and they were blowing me away! hahaha

CONGRATS on another great run!!!
You're the bomb girl!!!

just checking in real quick....I'm whooped!!

m

:cheer2: Great job today KiM!!!!!! I ran a race as well...ummmm...did I say ran? I mean I WALKED (ugh) a race today. Gave my legs a break from the pounding 8 miler I did yesterday  .

I'm so glad you had a good run...despite the crazy weather! You did wonderful :). So proud of you!!!!! :grouphug: Keep up the good work!!!!

Thanks for stopping by ladies!

Well, not a good morning for me. I weighed in and had a smack in the face. YES, I realized I had put some weight back on.....but not that much!! Time to get my rear back in gear!! :moped: No more slacking off allowed. Come on people....get MEAN with me!!

Let's start with food for today:

B - lite yogurt, 3/4 cup cereal w/skim milk
L - salad w/lite italian dressing, LC meal
S - apple w/natural peanut butter
D - grilled chicken breast and broccoli
S - 1/2 cup lite ice cream

Water - 70 ounces

It's official, I am back to journaling my food. I hate that I stopped, but when I go off track - I go WAY off track and it's not fair for you all to see that spiral. I know that if I am good this week, I'll be back down a couple or few pounds by Friday. So that'll be a good start. I'm gonna find a ticker because I want to lose at least 5 pounds by my WDW trip Nov 7th.

Exercise is a priority again. I'll be the first to admit I got lazy. When I was running a lot, I could eat more than just what is on my plan without it catching up with me. BUT, when I got lazy and slacked back on the running, I kept right on eating...and it DID catch up with me. Tonight I met up with my buddy Bob and the BL peeps. We did a little strength and conditioning and it felt GREAT. It was hard and I struggled and got mad at myself because I used to be able to do it with no problem. But it also energized me and made me want better for myself. The best part.....DH worked out with me! It was SO cool to workout with him. He wants to run pretty bad, but with his work schedule, it just can't happen. Plus with the kids we can't really both head out for a run at the same time.

For the rest of the week, I'd like to get in 2 runs before the weekend, and one more session with Bob. Then I want to get out there for a nice long run again Saturday morning.

WISH me luck guys, and feel free to give me hell! I need it!!

Congrats on a great 5K, Kim! :cheer2: That's wonderful that you ran the race even when the weather wasn't cooperating. :goodvibes You guys are doing such a great job with your running! Keep up the good work, Kim! :cheer2:

In regards to your question about the ticker.... I think you have to go back to Ticker Factory and do a new ticker there to put in your signature. There may be an easier way to do it though.... I'm not sure.

Have a great Tuesday! :sunny:

Hi Kim!

Hey, so great job on the 5k and good job formulating the exercise plan!! It's so cool that your DH worked out with you...that support must be amazing for you to have :)

Don't worry about struggling a little with the workouts...sure it will be difficult for the first few times back but you'll be surprised how quickly you regain your former level.

I'm proud of you for your no-quit attitude!! So I'm not gonna jump on your case yet....but you'd better get out there and run this week ;)

Have a great day today Kim!

Hi Kim!!!!

You KNOW I'm proud of you for getting out there and doing that 5K this weekend. And I'm really happy for you that you want to start journaling your food...especially if you know that helps keep you focused and on track :).

As for the running....well....Scott is being nice. But look where it's gotten him....he has to run a near impossible speed tomorrow just to beat my 4 mile time. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: He's too soft....too nice....so I'm going to get on here and kick your butt girl ;). I have been studying under an evil Kickboxing instructor....I'm mean and tough....pain is my middle name.... LOL! Here's my lecture....;)

When you don't want to get out there and run...those are the times to do it and find out what you're made of! Those are the runs that may not be pretty...or fast...but they are about the guts and determination. Those are the ones that add up over time...and make the good runs seem ALL THAT MUCH BETTER. So next time you don't think you want to get out there...force yourself to take those first few steps and finish knowing you accomplished a great task while most people are still sleeping...or watching TV...you can do it!!!!

OK...all kidding aside...now I'm done being mean :guilty: . I love ya' Kim! Like Scott said...you have an AWESOME no quit attitude! You will be right back in top form in no time at all. Those muscles will respond quickly and your healthy eating habits will become routine!!! Good luck :grouphug: . I know you'll be kicking out those runs in no time...and most likely running faster than me before long!!!!!

These are the times that try our souls. Comments like this really parallel the whole running thing, Kim. When you are called out, do you respond with childish insults...or remain focused and let the performance and numbers do the talking? When you are faced with the task of knowing you should run...do you find the time to fit it in or make an excuse to not get out there? I will get out there and let the numbers do the talking tomorrow....what about you?

Amy is a wonderful person but I will hate to see her start off her own food log with eating the words that she wrote up there.

We shall see who prevails in this battle of good vs. evil.....hard vs. soft....mean vs. nice.....for the only pain that Amy will know is the pain associated with having to admit that I am the faster runner :)

LOL!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Sorry to hijack your journal Kim, but sometimes I gotta do what I gotta do :)

And Amy.... :grouphug: It's ok to be second place. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: OMG you guys are AWESOME!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow!!! :stir: :rolleyes1

Thanks to you both, for helping me out. And you're completely right. I will feel SO much better about accomplishing those runs that I don't want to do. THANK YOU!!! :thumbsup2
