Your run earlier this week sounds wonderful. :cool1: Sounds like you have a good plan in place and done a good job with maintainance. You can present all of that to the nutritionist. You are going to do fine on your own now.

I agree that I wouldn't want to pay $15 a month for the rest of my life for something I can do on my own. :smooth: Let us know how your meeting with Nancy goes.

Your food from yesterday was not only good caloriewise, it sounded delicious too! I love turkey burgers! Have a great day!

:thumbsup2 Great job Kim!!! Sooo healthy with the food choices there :). And WTG on the water. That is one of my biggest problems lol. Good job!!!!!

Kim -- Just wanted to congratulate you on doing such a great job! I am so happy you had that fabulous 4 mile run to keep you inspired and energized. And your food choices are so great! I really need to check out your menus for some new ideas.

Have a great day and keep up the awesome work!

Kim-

Nice work on the healthy food and water intake!! GREAT JOB....very inspiring!!

And I'm with you on the nutritionist...sounds like you've got a real good grip on how to maintain so why pay someone??

Have a great day!!

WHEW, guys, it's been a rough one...and the day's not even over yet!

OK, the kids did GREAT this morning (and even I held up ;))!
They both had a GREAT day and are willing to go back to school tommorrow! :rotfl: (sorry, my pics aren't working)

OK, so after we left DS's school, I came home and worked a little on the computer. Then I went to Nancy's at 11:15. Can you say S-U-C-K-E-R??? YES, I'm still with her. I just couldn't say no. She told me that basically I could spread out my appointments more, but if I just stop coming...and then decide I need her back, I'll have re-join and spend all that money again. So I made my next appointment for 6 weeks from now. Good news is, that I weighed 119.5, which is what I weighed a month ago at my last weigh-in. So things are going well. I just read back my journal today and I think I had gotten down to 117 on her scale...but I'm much more comfortable around the 120 mark. I also gave Nancy a copy of my before & after Disney pics. She couldn't believe the difference, and said she doesn't remember me being that heavy to start. I said "I FELT that heavy!!!"

So I got home around 11:30 and changed into my running clothes and headed out the door. This turned out to be my WORST run attempt EVER! Nothing like feeling like a great runner and then being smacked back into reality!! I was planning on running the same 4 mile course, and if I still felt good, I'd keep on going. Well, I ran to the 2 mile mark (17 minutes) and then hit a MAJOR wall. I actually had to walk. I walked for the next 5 or 6 minutes, and then turned a different way and ran again for another 7 minutes. Then I got a BAD side pain. I started walking again....thinking I would run again in a few minutes....but I never did run again. My side was killing me, I got nauseas and dizzy and I seriously was contemplating sitting down on the street. But I kept on walking at what felt like a snails pace and made it home. It was a very long, very hot, very bad 50 minutes.

I did it to myself. I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink since last night. I don't know why I felt like I could just run that late in the day like that. When I got home I sipped some water and took a shower. Then I ate a sandwich and ended up in the bathroom for the next 1/2 hour (sorry if TMI). I really think I dehydrated or something like that. What stinks is that I even missed DS getting off of his bus because I had to come back inside to use the bathroom again. How could I be so stupid???

Well, I gotta hit the road. DD has cheer practice and DS has a party to go to at Chuck E. Cheese ( :badpc: ). Let's hope tomorrow is a better day!!!

Man Kim....I hope you're feeling better today. Make sure you keep water or your green tea handy! Let us know how today goes....maybe take the day off from running, just in case it is a stomach virus.

Glad the kids had a good day!! I'm sure your DS was giddy when he got home!
Also, I don't blame you for not quitting Nancy...it costs too much to start over....maybe you can make appointments in 90 day incriments... :confused3

Dang girl....119??? That's SKINNY!!! You've worked really hard for it, and you look great!! but don't go down anymore...anorexia is not fashionable!!
(heck, i'd be happy w/ 140!!! :teeth: )

Anyway, have a GREAT DAY!!! Feel better, and HYDRATE!!!
talk to you soon!!
marie

I hope you feel better soon. Sounds like a rough run/walk yesterday. :grouphug:

It sounds like you're really getting the hang of maintaining. I don't think I've been your weight since grade 5! ;) Keep up the great work!

Hi Kim!!! :grouphug:

Let me start by congratulating you on your weigh-in with Nancy :). Great work!!!! You're really holding steady...and judging by your disney pictures I'd say that you really do look wonderful and that seems to be a good healthy weight for you! :thumbsup2 Super job girl!!!!

Now to the run...there's so much going on here. Don't beat yourself up for a bad run. I've had MANY ... more than I care to discuss :rotfl: . Trust me...the bad ones are badges of honor. You could have just quit...thrown in the towel...but you didn't. You powered through and you finished the distance. At the end of the day that is what makes you a runner...or an athlete...you did it...you got out there when others only think about doing it. So 4 miles is 4 miles....no matter how much was run or walked...you covered the distance and you finished!!! I'm really proud of you for that!!!! :grouphug:

With that said...there are a few things going on that really affected the run. The big huge one...that you already know...is that your body lacked fuel. You need water and you need energy. I think you dehydrated yourself...which will make you so sick and dizzy. I've done that before and it is a VERY unpleasant experience. So I know what you were dealing with. Make sure you drink several glasses of water an hour or so before each run. And something healthy...an orange...power bar...etc.... an hour or two before. The body can't go much more than 1 or 2 miles efficiently unfueled.

Also, don't discount the emotional strain you were under with the kids starting back to school. I know this is a tough week for you...and that will impact your run for certain. Sometimes you can run that stuff out of your head...and sometimes it becomes a weight and makes the run harder. I think that once the run became difficult due to lack of food....the emotional stuff creeps in and just adds to the misery.

Also...girl an 8:30 mpm first two miles is F.A.S.T. Probably a bit too fast. Try to pace yourself around a 10 mpm until you find your comfortable zone. It's hard to do ... but I think you'll feel much better. You can run fast...you really have it in you...but for these first few weeks back getting into the groove don't try to kill each run with that awesome pace. I think you'll become very fast before you know it. And 8:30 mpms are probably in your future if you could pull them for 2 miles with no food or water!!!! I'm jealous LOL. They sure aren't in my past, present or future :rotfl: .

Never be ashamed of a bad run. Chalk it up to experience and know that your run earlier this week was AWESOME. Keep your chin up and hang in there :). I hope you're feeling better!!!

Just a quick check in post!
im sooo sorry that you had to go to chuck e cheese!! i understand the pain :)

Ill talk to you later--check your PMs

:rotfl: OMG...Chuck E. Cheese too??? Dear god....don't get me started on that place LOL! I have no advice to offer on that ;). Well....maybe bring some tylenol :teeth: .

Hi Kim!!

Um, yeah....what Amy said. :thumbsup2 LOL. :rotfl:

Really though, she is exactly right. Believe me, I was really worried about my weight and didn't want to eat too much but suddenly realized that there is a HUGE tie in to successful runs and properly fueling up the body. It's funny that now I eat more than I did in the past, but I'm still maintaining/slightly losing weight each week. So please make sure you are getting enough food in you to be able to burn off when you run. Amy gave really good advice up there.

I give you huge props for finishing out that run though!! THAT is what a true runner does..that is what separates those of us who are dedicated and those who are not. Your dedication on that run really inspires me..I'm so proud of you! With that said...DON'T HURT YOURSELF!! LOL Starting off fast is the #1 way to get fatigued and hit a wall. It's so hard to do, but try and evenly pace your runs...maybe even start off slow and finish up faster.

You're doing such an amazing job...don't let a bad run bring you down!! Each run is a new experience...brush that last one off your shoulder and everything will be fine!

Keep up the great job and have an awesome weekend!

Oh yeah Kim...PLEASE....don't mention that place anymore....we need to keep Amy happy :)

Thanks, Amy. I really appreciate all of your feedback. I wasn't purposely trying to go fast at all, but I think that I did have a lot on my mind, and I just went faster than I even realized. When I got to the turn around point and looked at my watch, I thought it would be more like 25 minutes because it felt like such a HARD run, but here it was so much faster than I expected and that's probably part of why it was such a hard run.

Usually when I run in the early am, I don't put anything in my mouth ahead of time, and I'm just fine. I was thinking yesterday that I'm used to nothing in my stomach and didn't want to eat right before running (and I only had an hour window of time to work with). Well, we all know that I made the wrong choice. I should have eaten and then gone out for a 1/2 hour run if that's all I could squeeze in.

As far as Chuck E Cheese goes....Thank the Good Lord that's OVER!!! It seriously is an instant headache when I walk in there! :sad2:

Thanks again, all of you, for checking in. I am definitely having a much better day today.
