Kim's new and improved life journal!

Hiya Kim!

Nice job on the ab and weight workout!! And congrats on joining the October exercise challenge!! Between us here on your journal and the challenge, you should have a pretty awesome month of workouts!

Have a great day!

Hey guys! Thanks as always to Scott and Amy for your encouragement! You're AWESOME!

Just a couple quick updates:

My grandmom is doing ok. She doesn't really have the drive to heal that we all wish for her, but I really can understand it. The poor woman just wants to relax and enjoy her life...now she's gonna be poked, prodded, stretched and all other kinds of things. She is expected to move to a rehab facility within the next couple of days. She could actually be moved now, but she's not eating enough and isn't strong enough to begin rehab/therapy.

AND.....the big one.....

I bought new running sneakers at lunch today!! Who knew I'd get THIS excited about sneakers!! I had put it off way too long and my reasons were stupid. I really wanted to be able to talk to the salesman about what kind of sneaker to get and get a good feeling about them before purchasing them. I didn't want to just go to Sports Authority and pick them myself. The only store that specializes in running is at least an hour away. And thus, the reason I was putting it off. Well....the other day I heard on the radio that our local cycling shop now calls itself cycling & fitness. I called...and they DO have a running department. I went there today at lunch and met another great Scott! He talked to me for literally 10-15 minutes before even having me try any sneakers on. He's a fellow runner and had his old running sneaks on (he said when they are your "running" sneaks to only wear them for running, but when the mileage goes over 500, you retire them as running sneaks & can wear them as everyday sneaks).

OK, so anyway...I bought the Pearl izumi Shine sneakers. I swear, putting them on & just standing was HEAVEN! My old sneakers aren't even good enough for everyday use...they are so unsupportive!! :rotfl:

I am totally phyched to run now!! I can't wait to see how much better I'll feel because I know there is going to be a HUGE difference! My plan is to run in the morning before work. WISH me luck!

Me again! :rotfl:

Today was an average day, food-wise. I did well at work (as usual) but for some reason I just can't seem to eat well at night. I wonder if I need to eat more fruits and veggies during the day so that I'm not feeling so hungry at night?

B - 2 scrambled eggs
L - salad, LC pasta meal
S - handful of walnuts
D - small fries from McD's, bologna & cheese sandwich

water - 80 ounces

I didn't get to do any structured exercise today, but I did power-clean the garage tonight (wanted to get my van to fit in there since the weather is getting colder! :thumbsup2 ). So I'm going to log some of that time as exercise minutes. (flame me, if you must - but I worked up a sweat and my heart rate was definitely up!)

One last thing - my grandmom was moved this afternoon back to her nursing home. It's also a rehab facility, so she is able to stay in her room and they'll come wheel her down for rehab. I know she's happy about being back where she has friends and her own nurses to take care of her. :cloud9:

OK, I'm heading to bed. I'm still shooting for a run tomorrow morning! :moped:

Trying to catch up on journals.... way too far behind. Sorry.

I am so glad your Grandma is able to move back to her nursing home. Hopefully, being in familiar surroundings while perk up her spirits some. :wizard:

Your dinner was high fat, but not huge qty so that is something. For me, the days I have plenty of fruits and veg, are better days for not snacking. I need to get to the market and restock too.

That is great that you have a running store close by now :woohoo: . New sneaks can make a world of difference :cloud9: . I need new sneaks too, but I want to get beyond a "walk" before I go to the "running" store.

Have a great rest of the week.

Oh, when I get another week planned out, I'll email it to you. I need to step off the merry-go-round of life for a few days so I can get myself organized again. sigh.

Hi Kim!!

Congrats on the new sneakers!!! So awesome to get cool new things...especially running things ;) Now....when are you gonna get out there and use them??? We'd better see a running report from today at some point :) (you did say you needed us to get on you, right?)

And I'm glad to hear that your grandmother has been moved back. I'm sure the environment there with her friends is much more comforting to her. I'm happy for you guys :)

Getting excited for tonight yet? I AM!!! Can't wait to see what happens and what new storylines are set up ;)

Have a good day Kim!

Hi Kim,

Sorry to hear of all the troubles that your grandmother is having. Keep her in my thoughts that she has a quick recovery.

Congrats on your run! You are doing a great job.

Keep up the great work!

Happy Wednesday :)

Hi Kim,

Congrats on the new shoes! Have you had a chance to try them out yet?

I'm glad to hear that your grandma is back in a familiar place for her. I'm sure it is comforting to her to know that her friends and the nurses she knows are there to help her. We will continue to pray for her.....

Hope you have a great Thursday! :sunny:

Hi guys! Sorry I didn't post last night....some show was on that I just couldn't miss! :rolleyes1 (OMG - it was GREAT!!!)

Anyway...yesterday went well. I did not go for a run before work. I chickened out because it wasn't quite light enough out for me to be comfortable running outside by myself. BUT - I brought my running stuff to work, and got in a 30 minute run in between 11am and 1pm meetings. :teeth: The new sneakers felt AWESOME!! Not only were my old sneaks worn out (felt like my feet were slamming on the ground), but they were definitely too tight. My only problem with the run yesterday was the HEAT. :sunny: Where'd that come from? It was 75 when I left for work yesterday morning, and 92 when I left at 3pm...so I'm guessing it was somewhere around 90 when I ran. It was a struggle, but my buddy Janine was right there with me and she encouraged me when I wanted to walk! :rolleyes1

I didn't have time to eat lunch, so when I left work at 3 I was starving. I went home, and before I ate, I did some arm weights and ab work. Then I ate. I thought the little workout would help remind me to not just grab a bunch of crap and eat it!

So here's my food:

B - 2 scrambled eggs
S - 10 wheat crackers w/lite cream cheese
L - roastbeef and lite mayo on wheat bread, 5 sunchips
D - 1/2 cup mac n' cheese, 1/2 cup cinnamon life cereal w/skim milk

water - 80 ounces

I had a bad morning with my kids this morning...getting them ready for school, cleaning up the house a little for the cleaning lady (gotta get the crap off the floor for her to vacuum :rotfl: ). So I've realized that I have been slacking in my mommy-duties. I need to be more structured about what I expect from my kids (picking up after themselves and taking care of themselves) and I need to stick to it. I hope to come up with a plan today and implement it tonight. Mommy can't handle it all, people!!! :sad2:

Hope you all are doing well, and thanks SO much for the encouragement!

(yes Scott, I did say to encourage me!)

(no Jen, there is no room in the garage for anyone else's car but mine ;))

Hi Kim!!

*standing up and applauding*

Way to go on the run yesterday!!! So awesome that you did it during lunch! I'm proud of you!! Glad to see the shoes are working out for you too! So, when's the next run? LOL

What did you think of the show?? It was different than how I thought it would be, but pretty incredible nontheless!! And to think only 5 more episodes before we have to wait three months for anything new again.... :furious:

Hope you have a great day!

Thanks Scott. I was definitely proud of myself to not make my meetings an excuse to not run. :yay:

Those first 5 minutes blew me AWAY!!! When they went to the first commercial, Jay and I just looked at each other dumbfounded!! How awesome! Lots of bits and pieces of info last night, but no definite answers. One question (and I will be heading over to the Lost thread later), Juliette wasn't Desmond's girlfriend/wife that they showed at the end of last season in the Anarctic, right?

And the files the others have?? How spooky is that??

I'm with you, though...I'm sad there will only be 5 more episodes and then a big break...but I'll bet those 5 are gonna be GREAT! My bummer is that the 6th episode will air when I'm in WDW!! So it'll be killing me to know what happened!!! :furious:

I'd like to say I'll run tomorrow, but I'm thinking I might do the eliptical tomorrow morning and then take a long, slow run on Saturday morning since DS's soccer is cancelled this week (can get out nice and early before some pesky DISer comes over :rolleyes1 ).

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Yeah for you getting your run in between meetings!!! And great of you to do a workout before eating, even when you are starving! :thumbsup2

Pesky DISers?! i hate when they come over
YOU LOVE WHEN I COME OVER! but if you dont want me to.. ;)
GREAT job running between meetings..im glad janine encouraged u when u wanted to stop..

well, i ll talk to you tomorrow, unless ur on tonight...SEE YOU SATURDAY!!! hahahahahahah

:grouphug: WAY TO GO KIM!!!! :cheer2:

I'm so so so proud of you for getting that run in between your meetings! That is a huge deal....it would have been so easy to skip the run...you had legitimate excuses BUT you didn't allow it to stop you. Excellent effort :goodvibes .

And congrats on the new sneakers!!! :teeth: Oh my...I just LOVE getting new running stuff!!!!! :cloud9: Isn't it great...that first run in the new sneaks is like running on a cloud when you're used to old broken down shoes! They sound really comfy....I'm so glad you got good advice!!!

As for the eating! You're doing awesome! It's so hard to make all those excellent eating choices and yet you do such a great job :). And about the elliptical...no worries there...that's an excellent alternative to running!!!! Have a great day tomorrow Kim!!!! And again...I'm so proud of you for the healthy eating and getting that run in! :grouphug:

HAPPY FRIDAY!!! :cool1:

Jen - sorry I wasn't online last night. My laptop was here at work with the helpdesk. They had to re-set up my remote access.

Amy - Thanks so much for your encouragement (as always)! The new sneakers are WONDERFUL!! My eating hasn't been perfectly on plan, but I feel like I'm making good choices most of the time, and as long as I keep up the exercise-I should be good. :cheer2:

Anna - thanks for stopping by and for your continued support!

Yesterday was an ok day. I started out with a rough morning with the kids (posted already) and then had a busy day at work. From there it was the chaos Thursday night with picking up the kids & getting DS ready for soccer & DD ready for cheering. Then DH and I separate and meet at home around 8. Here's my food for the day (can you say CARBS??) :sad2:

B - 1/2 bagel w/lite cream cheese
L - Wawa turkey & cheese sandwich on wheat roll (LOVE that new wheat roll!), 1/2 small bag garden salsa sunchips (my new vice)
D - lite chicken wrap
S - 4 mini powdered donuts, 4 oz. skim milk

Water - 70 ounces

Not a good day, but for me....I still limited myself from things that I was craving...so that's a good thing.

No eliptical this morning, but I plan on it tonight. The weather report isn't looking so hot for tomorrow morning. I'm not going to run in the pouring rain, but if it's a light rain I'll get out there. Otherwise, I may postpone the long run til Sunday.

Hope you all have a GREAT weekend! :surfweb:

HI Kim,

Way to go on getting your run in between meetings! that is great!!!

You're doing a great job!! Keep up the good work!

Happy Friday :)

Morning all!

I went out for a run this morning. Ran for 32 minutes around the neighborhood. Was a little rough starting off, but got into a groove and felt good. MAN, have I missed these cooler mornings!! :sunny: After my run, the family was wanting breakfast, so I made them some waffles and then went upstairs. I started the shower water, turned on some tunes and did 10 minutes of abs & arms (not Scott & Amy's torturous plan yet) and then went in the shower.

I'm hoping to get some more exercise minutes in tomorrow. Not sure if I'll get in another run or maybe the whole family can do something together since we're all off work/school. :thumbsup2

Have a great one, guys and I'll talk to you soon!!

Hi Kim!!

YEESS!!! Another run!! Way to go! And then an ab/arm workout on top of that?? Nice Job Kim!

And enjoy your day off tomorrow! Some of us still have to work :rolleyes1

Have a great day!

Great run and way to go getting in abs too!

Enjoy your day off tomorrow. :sunny:

:cheer2: YEAHHHH Kim!!! Excellent job getting out there to run!! I'm so proud of you girl :). And I totally agree...these beautiful fall temperatures are just the thing to motivate you into running. The heat of the summer made it so difficult...but now conditions are optimal! :sunny:

Good work starting on your abs :thumbsup2 . Maybe one of these days you'll gave that circuit routine a chance...it's challenging but not impossible! I'll be doing it later today after my run!

I hope you enjoy your day off :goodvibes . Have a great week!!! :teeth:
