Who said you can't look great while exercising? Just pretend that you are one of those women at the gym who does her hair and makeup FOR the gym. I just don't understand that.:confused3 :confused3

I was thwarted at the gym yesterday as well. It must be a conspiracy.

Hey all. I finally made it back to the gym today (went on Monday but had forgotten my sneakers :sad2: ). I did 100 crunches then did arm weights and then hit the treadmill. My plan was to run 3 miles at 11 mpm. I was feeling VERY good after the first mile and knew I could do it. But at about a mile and quarter, disaster struck in the form of a stinky man on the treadmill next to me. :scared: I now realize why running outside is better than treadmill running in a gym. :laughing: I barely made it to 1.5 miles before I had to stop. It just wasnt good to be breathing in that kind of air. :sick:

I'm really disappointed, but I'll get it done - I know I will. :thumbsup2

Beth - I'm with you. I don't wear makeup on normal days, let alone to the gym to sweat it off. :upsidedow

:scared: To the stinky guy next to you. That is the worst. Actually, the worst is when stinky man uses a weight machine right before you, and doesn't wipe it off.

Hey all!

I hope to get some miles in this weekend. I only got in the 1.5 miles during the week, so I'm disappointed in that. I will make that 30 miles this month, even if I walk at lunch on the days I don't go to the gym. :thumbsup2

Not too much planned this weekend, so I am gonna get some housework/projects done.

Hey all. Quick post since I am just wiped out tonight. :faint:

I was able to sleep in until 8 today and then by the time I got everyone else fed and got changed & out the door, it was 10 and HOT outside. But I did it and went into the run thinking I'd just get some miles in, whether I ran or walked. I also switched the settings on my Garmin to only show time and total distance (and took off the pace) since it really was distracting me.

I ran 1 mile, then walked 1/2 mile, then ran 1 mile. At that point I had gone so far away from my normal route that I just knew it was gonna be a longer run/walk than I probably should have ventured today. It was unbearably hot and horribly humid (like breathing in hot steam :scared: ). I had no water with me, and it was later in the day than I usually go out - considering I don't eat or drink anything before running. I completed 4.5 miles in 60 minutes exactly. The last 2 miles were definitely more walking than running, but I did mix it up as often as I could. The walking was also an improvement from my normal walking as I felt I was taking longer strides at a quicker pace. Sometimes when I walk I feel like I just lollygag too much.

So, I got in a wonderful 4.5 miles today and then came home & washed our cars (considering I was pretty much soaked anyway :rolleyes1 ). Then I went inside and did my 100 crunches and got a nice COLD shower. ahhhhhhhhhhhh:cloud9:

I'm hoping I can meet that 30 mile challenge by Friday, but if not...there's always next month. And I'm thrilled that I've already bypassed my last two month's numbers. :thumbsup2

One last thing...I am going to register for a 5k on 9/30 in Atlantic City. My sister says she'll do it with me, but this time I'm registering and I'll go with or without her. Scott's right...I need that race on the horizon to keep me in check.

Way to go for getting that run in Kim!:thumbsup2 It sounds like it was a tough one with all of the heat and humdity, but you kept on going, and you did it! Way to go!:cheer2:

Nice job on that run/walk in the heat, especially without water...hopefully we'll all catch a break here soon with the weather and get into those fall temps that are so awesome to get out there and exercise in :)

Congrats on setting a race goal for yourself!! For me, it puts meaning to every single workout when you are prepping for a race and makes me work that much harder. I hope you get all signed up, hope that your sister does run with you, and I hope you do well in the race!!

I think you did an awesome job with that run/walk. You easily could have blown it off due to the heat. Instead, you posted 4.5 miles. You have exceeded your 2 previous months' miles, and you still have time to reach your goal. You should be really proud of yourself.

Good job signing up for the race. I think Scott is right that it will be a big motivator for you.

And too bad about stinky man :scared: ..... not cool! You'll need to bring some oust or febreze with ya to the gym and just spray those dudes when they get near ya! :laughing:

It seems like we practically had the same workout yesterday, and about the same time. I'm not gloating, but we are having pretty nice weather here in the midwest - I am hopeful that it is on its way to you very soon.

Hey all! Thanks SO much for all of the support!! I officially registered for the 9/30 5k today. :woohoo:

I also ran on the TM at lunch. Man, do I hate that machine. It feels like I'm going really fast, but the display shows me differently and it takes so long to finish a mile. I did 2 miles in 27 minutes. That's not a good feeling. :sad2: BUT...it was 2 miles.

So I'm getting closer to the goal.....keep on cheering me on - I'm gonna need it this week! :scared:
