Mono~rail - At the risk of repeating it yet again, I have to say that your "Snow White" outfit with the girls was just FANTASTIC!!! Such a great idea!

I am actually in a full-fledged Snow White custom along with DD4 in Sept. for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Obviously not something you would wear on a normal park day, (actually I don't think it is even allowed) but your outfit for normal park days really does the trick! Great idea!

I continue to be just amazed at the talent, style and saavy of all the women on this thread! princess:
Thanks! :) I figured out that as long as you are dressed subtley (sp?) then dressing as a character isn't an issue. People only caught on that I was dressed like Snow White when the girls were right beside me.

Can anyone give some good online sites for disney fabrics other than Joanns and hancocks? I am looking for some origional stuff in cotton. I would really love to find some Nightmare before Christmas fabric if anyone can help with that. TIA

Mono~rail, I love the Snow White outfits, too. It is perfect. You aren't too costumey (Is that a word?), but you definitely see Snow White. Very clever.

Okay, all you designers out there. I found these o'alls at our local thrift shop. They are from the Disney Store and look like they were worn and washed once (maybe twice). Excellent condition. Anyway, I want to fancy them up a bit, but I'm drawing blanks. Since they are carpenter-style, I'm thinking boy. However, the emroidery also has Minnie AND Daisy, so it could go girl. They are a size 24M; and since neither of my kiddos are that little, I'll probably be listing them when I finish them. What do ya'll see? Since they feature the Fab 6 in the embroidery, I was thinking a tribute to Walt on the back and legs. Maybe the words, "Imagine" and "Believe" or even a quote. "Let us never lose sight of one thing. That it was all started by a mouse." Or whatever the quote is. Obviously I would look it up and get it right before using it. OR I could put some of the more current characters on the legs. Or even a "Thank you, Walt." I dunno. I just love the tribute to Walt idea. What do ya'll think?

Thanks,

A question for all you sewing experts.

If a pattern says recommended for silks, knits, etc... basically anything other than cotton/cotton blends, can you still use it OK for cotton/cotten blends?

I kept finding styles I liked but the recommended fabrics were silks or knits. Since I've spent most of the day organizing fabric (and decided I definitely do NOT need any more princess fabric! :lmao: I have 3 boys and a teen girl, there is only so much I can do here with Princess fabric.)

Also...I thought this would be a cute idea but am wondering if it will look kind of weird -- putting a Nemo and Ariel fabric together. I was looking at a Nemo fabric I had and thought it would go together nicely with an Ariel fabric I had. They are both under the water so I thought it would work.

Not usually with the knits. A pattern that calls for knit will need the stretch that you get with a knit. Silk, you may be okay. I would think that the sild would drape, that you wouldn't get with a cotton.

Teresajoy - thanks so much for posting all of those patterns!! That was very nice of you! :)

All of the sewing terms were lost on me, though!! :lmao: I guess I will have to go to Joann's and spit out $100 for the 2 sewing classes !!

Thanks,

The Walt idea is cute, or something from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse- that would be popular with that age set- or "Whose the leader of the club?", or even something that just embraces Disney as a whole?

Hi All, finally got the outfit done. I wasn't going to add pants, but oh well, I did.
Here are the pictures. My dd was being a tart, she wanted to watch television instead of getting her picture taken. After the pictures, which took all of 5 minutes, she proceeded to try to get her new dress back on, not the one in the picture and she ripped it. She is so rough, she kind of plows her way into clothes. She rarely wears anything I make, because of that reason.

This outfit was inspired :rolleyes1 by another one that I saw on Ebay a while ago. I won't post the origional photo, because all of the recent to-do about that. Hope you all like it.

Oh I love love love it!

At the suggestion of teresajoy, I have added a link to my OP with the photobucket link generously prepared by pixiedust_in_ak as well as the link to the online patterns prepared by teresajoy.

This will hopefully allow everyone easy access to these links.

Thanks and keep them coming!!!:cool1:

This picture was posted on this thread earlier, so I hope it's ok to post again. Do you think this fabric is too girly to make a shirt out of for my sons? Probably would only use as accents. I am trying to match outfits for Easter Sunday and planned to make DD a dress out of this.

If you made the whole shirt out of it, I think it might be too much, but I think accents would be just fine. (Maybe something like TravelingGal made?) It'll be very cute, I bet.

A question for anyone who has made one - How do you attach the bottlecaps to the necklace material? :confused3

Thanks!

Hi Lisa! Northwest Ohio here!
You have to drill a hole in the bottlecap with the smallest drill bit you have and then run a 6 or 7mm split ring through it. You can just slide it onto the necklace like that or you can buy the decorative piece like these have here in the middle. You just run the split ring through here too. Have fun & goodluck!

I love this!! I cant belive you can just whip up a adorable set one after another..

I am not sure if anyone posted these yet but I finally found free no sew tutu instructions. I have not tried it yet but it seems really easy. If anyone wants these please email for the link as I do not want to get in trouble.

I also made my first set of boutique bows tonight to match DDs safari outfit (made by castle creations) and I am so happy. i have no idea when I will get pics up due to my pc camera problem that is ongoing. i have so much to post that when I do I will give you all overload. i have the altered walmart dress and coordinating outfit for DS and altered camo overalls from kmart for both DD and DS---I turned DDs into a dress. I also made my first fringe braclet that matches an outfit i have for MGM. This tread and obsession are taking over my life! Because I made the braclet and bows poor DH had tomake dinner after he got home from work because i lost track of time. thank goodness he loves Disney and understands my obession (kinda)

whoa!! I am out of my element! Is there a special jewelry drill for this small bit? Sorry! That must be a very dumb question - just wondering if I need to borrow DH's drill...LOL :lmao:

Maybe I should stick with my hot glue gun and glue them to a clip with some ribbon!!! But darn it, that jewelry is too cute!!!

It's not that bad! You do need DH's drill and if he's a really nice DH he'll hold them & drill them for you!
