I love it!

That outfit is unbelievable!!!! I wish I had as much talent as you do!!! It really is outstanding!

Honestly I can't take credit for the design of the outfit. I borrowed it...:rolleyes1 , but I did have to figure out the pattern on my own. I didn't have one and had to make one out of two different ones..whew

I love the way pinks and greens look together! This is really cute, very summery! What a cute little model too!

A question for all you sewing experts.

If a pattern says recommended for silks, knits, etc... basically anything other than cotton/cotton blends, can you still use it OK for cotton/cotten blends?

I kept finding styles I liked but the recommended fabrics were silks or knits. Since I've spent most of the day organizing fabric (and decided I definitely do NOT need any more princess fabric! :lmao: I have 3 boys and a teen girl, there is only so much I can do here with Princess fabric.)

Also...I thought this would be a cute idea but am wondering if it will look kind of weird -- putting a Nemo and Ariel fabric together. I was looking at a Nemo fabric I had and thought it would go together nicely with an Ariel fabric I had. They are both under the water so I thought it would work.

Maybe you can post of a pic of the 2 colors together. hard to picture it.
I ahve used patterns meant for other fabrics before and it worked out find. it depends what it is your sewing, sometimes knits are meant to be wrap around and you need the shape it holds to

It's funny you would ask about the Nemo and Ariel fabrics, because the same idea struck me this morning while I was contemplating my beloved fabric stash!

As for the patterns and fabrics, I never pay attention to the recommended fabrics myself, and have never had a problem.

I'm looking to replace my 26 year old Kenmore sewing machine and I have no idea where to start. Someone suggested I come over to this thread and that maybe you all could help me with some suggestions for a good machine.

Here's what I want:

*It needs to be a good brand- with a good reputation
*Of course, I want a screaming good deal on it!
* I'd like it to be more then the beginner model, but less then the cadillac model.

I will be doing mostly quilting on this machine, but maybe some baby clothes for my first grandchild and probably some home deco stuff

Can anyone here give me some suggestions or at least a place to start looking?

BTW- I LOVE what I am seeing in styles on this thread! You're all so creative with the patterns and fabrics!! I can hardly wait 'til I can start sewing for kids again!!

I can't help you with the type of fabric to use, but I wondered about the Ariel/Nemo combo also. Could you post pics of the two fabrics together so we can see? DD2 loves Nemo & Ariel and I wanted to make one like that, but I was hesitant.

:lmao: Apparently the consensus is Ariel/Nemo combo is a good idea, since I'm not the only one to think of that.

I haven't put them directly together so I may change my mind on those but I have 3 different Nemo's and only 1 Ariel here (but saw many more at the store that I forced myself NOT to buy...it wasn't easy!), so it may not match the one I happen to have but would match others. I know the the Nemo is a light green with just Nemo and as soon as I saw it thought "you know this reminds me of Ariel".

Hmmm....I hadn't thought of it but you could also use the Nemo fabric and do an Applique of Ariel alone on it. There's another thought for combination.

I'm trying to find it on-line but can't right now. I'll take a picture when I get a chance.

oh I am soooooo very excited. I have my cinderella bows being shipped today in time for us leaving for disney this saturday. she sent me a pic of the bows before she mailed today. this is the only pic that does not have her website or ebay id on the picture, and I do not want to get myself in trouble on this board for posting a link, even if it is only in pictures. If your interested you can pm me.
Isn't this bow YUMMY! It is a pair for my 3 year old to wear at the castle for lunch this sunday.

I like the outfit, Lori. I saw that fabic and didn't buy it because I just couldn't figure out what to do with it. Nice work.

BTW, my 5 yo is a Josephine, too -- pronounced with an "s" not a "z." :) We call her Josie. I really love the name more and more as time passes. Both my girls have old-fashioned names.

I know that some people were saying that Consumer Reports rated one of the Kenmore models very highly. I don't know which one it was though. But, I didn't want you to think everyone was ignoring you. :)

I have a 20+ year old Viking and a 20 year old Singer, so I can't really help yo uout too much for new ones.

ours is also pronounced wit a "s" also. Everyone calls her JoJo. I call her Josephine"E" with an extended e at the bottom. All my kids have old fashioned names. they will be the only ones with names like Josephine and Anastasia. and Our baby Nicholas was named to keep with a russian Royal theme. Oh have wanted those names since I was a child. Luckily my hubby loved them too!

Mono~rail - At the risk of repeating it yet again, I have to say that your "Snow White" outfit with the girls was just FANTASTIC!!! Such a great idea!

I am actually in a full-fledged Snow White custom along with DD4 in Sept. for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Obviously not something you would wear on a normal park day, (actually I don't think it is even allowed) but your outfit for normal park days really does the trick! Great idea!

I continue to be just amazed at the talent, style and saavy of all the women on this thread! princess:

TravelinGal - What a great idea for the custom shirts/tops for your family! Pls post pics of the final products!!!

Also, pls PM me if you would have any interest in making and selling a set for my family for our Dec 08 trip. Thanks!
