This is my first attempt at a more intricate applique. I think it may have been Dena that said to just be patient and take your time. That's all it really took! I encourage you all to try it if you haven't already!!

I noticed in the picture that the tiny threads on the mushrooms (that I JUST did) haven't been trimmed, yet, so disregard their "fuzziness"!

After I finish the dress (I plan to add a bow to the front and a tie in the back), I will post my princess wearing it!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Your appliques look SO good. It was definately worth the wait to see your appliques. I love the picot trim along the bottom of Alice's skirt. Great attention to detail!! I've got an Alice outfit in the works too.

Adorable!!! Great job!!

You were SO helpful, Dena!

I am an avid sewer, but applique was very daunting to me!! I was afraid I would be too messy, but all I had to do was take my time (I often turned the wheel with very little pressure from the foot petal) avoid rushing it!

I plan to blush Alice's cheek a bit with fabric paint. I meant to do that b/f sharing her, but I forgot!

My next plan is to find a coloring page of Cinderella to do for my DD7 for our breakfast at the castle. She has her gown, but I thought I'd try a custom and maybe she'd rather wear that. Does anyone have a good page that doesn't have TOO many pieces??

Okay, I went back to get ALL of the Chip & Dale fabric. I'm keeping a bit for me, and there's a bit left. I'll try to figure out what to do and how to do it with the rest of this fabric. ;)

Okay, now for the other fabric I found, I noticed a few other RARE Disney and other character prints that I wanted to show everybody. I love to see all of the cool fabric prints people post. Somebody posted a Peter Pan one a few months ago that was TDF! My pictures aren't the best, but they get the idea across. These were all also in the clearance/imported fabric section (many were only 1.99/yd!). Can you believe it? What a bargain! I can't believe they weren't snatched up long ago. These are *that* cute..and good quality too!

Lastly, my most favorite one of all. I didn't buy it tonight, but I put the entire lot of it on hold to purchase tomorrow. I wanted to get your opinion first if you think others might be interested in this print and if it could possibly sell well on a certain auction site. It was almost DIRT cheap for suprisingly TOP quality flannel fabric, but I can't afford to buy it all outright if I couldn't unload it *elsewhere* ;) (DH is already working a 2nd job as it is). But isn't this fabric PERFECT for custom Fall/ Winter pajamas?! It's a very nice weight flannel--not too heavy not too light! I want to make some pjs for my whole family!! How on earth did I miss this one yesterday?! For scale, the teacups are about the size of an average lime or lemon
100_3363.jpg

I would LOVE some of this fabric. Please let me know if you are selling some of it.

Chantell

Wow! So it seems there's quite a bit of interest and encouragement in me taking the plunge to purchase the whole bolt/roll of the rare teacup fabric. *Eek* I've never bought more fabric than I have in the past two days. I hope this little leap of faith will all pay off in the end. I just LOVE it for making custom pajamas for Fall & Winter. Like I mentioned, I think I'll make my entire family coordinating pjs. I love it *that* much. It's the perfect weight flannel and it's just so darn stinkin' cute! I'm sure I'll have LOTS and LOTS left over that could be found on a certain auction site in the near future should anyone in Internetland want to make custom pjs, etc. as well. Be sure to PM me to get the specifics. :goodvibes

ivyjoy.com has a coloring page search engine about halfway down the main page. Just type in Cinderella and *voila* you'll have links to TONS of great pages just perfect for applique patterns.

Wow, there have been some truly amazing, beautiful outfits posted on here in the last few days. GREAT job everyone!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Here's my first attempt at creating an outfit using a pattern. The pattern was labeled "easy", but I didn't find that to be true. But, I finished it! The pattern didn't call for the ribbon around the waist, but I thought it looked a little too babyish without it. I tried using Heat 'N Bond to keep the ribbons on so I wouldn't have to sew it. It didn't work at all (the ribbons just came right back off), so I ended up having to try and sew through the stuff. I wrecked a needle, but I got the ribbons sewn on.

I thought about putting an applique and some ribbons on the capris to coordinate better, but I haven't gotten to it yet. Here is what I have so far:

She thought this was hilarious, as I was "taking a picture of her butt.":

Jajone- I sent you a PM about the blue/green mickeyhead fabric.

The tinkerbell dress is mine and I bought the fabric at Joannes a while ago.

Thanks for the information, it's very cute! Now I know where to start looking.

:welcome: But you can't say you weren't warned!! :rotfl: I would say that you can sew very well. I think you did a wonderful job, and she looks very happy with it as well. Nice job. So, are there some matching capris or anything in that outfit's future. Nothing too young, of course. Sorry. I'm just looking for ideas for my girls. They aren't as old as your dd, but don't like all the ruffles and frills. Oh well.....

I'm not sure what else we are going to do with this. Our next trip is in December so she thought she could wear a t-shirt underneath. She does want me to make her a long tie out of the material that she can use as a hairband. Didn't think she wanted a bow, it doesn't look as "grown up"!:)

As of last week, our Joann's had these. I'm going to try to get back there today. I forget which one though. I'll be happy to look for you. Just let me know.

Can you see if they have the bright colored tropical tinkerbell fabric. We LOVE that fabric even though we have no idea what we will make of it. Probably would not need more than 2 yards, 3 at the most.

I saw the Tinkerbell tropical print at my Joann's a couple of days ago. It was pretty expensive though. I think maybe around $7.99. They had maybe 1.5-2 yards left. I also saw a bunch of the pirate fabric at the same fabric store I found my other fabulous finds. It wasn't with the other clearance things I found, so I'm not sure what the price was. When I go back, I could check if you'd like. The red and black Mickey print is actually a discontinued flannel fabric.

If you can check on the price of the pirate fabric that would be great, but please don't make a special trip just to do that. Thank you. I'm sad to hear the red/black flannel is discontinued. Oh well.

Kansas Visitor - I saw the red with black mickey head fabric (or something extremely similar) at the Hobby Lobby in Overland Park,KS. Since you are in KS if you decide to take a fabric shopping trip there is a area in OP where you can hit Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Wal-Mart in about 1 sq mile and then Hancock's is only a couple miles North. If the first Wal-Mart doesn't have what you want 2 more are within a couple of miles. Oh the joy of suburbia. If you need further info let me know.

Are you talking about somewhere around Metcalf? I have to go to a training in Oct in OP and I was just scheming yesterday about all the fabric stores in that one area. I am excited!

The blue & green Mickey Camo was at Hancocks & they did have it online. I can check when I go back. I made my DD17 a top out of the floral/orange Tink today. I'll have to pay her to let me take a picture but I'll get it on here one way or another.

I've checked at Hancock's online and they've been out for quite awhile. I would LOVE to see the top you made for your DD17 out of the Tink fabric. Tell your DD that my DD is dying to see it, so PRETTY PLEASE!!!!

I have seen the Pirate fabric at Hancock fabrics here in town. If you need it and can't find it all from the same person then let me know.

Thank you for offering, I'll let you know. I may just call the closest ones and see if they have it.

Does anyone know if Joann's or Hancock's(stores not the website) will ship it to you if you pay with credit card? Probably cheaper than driving with gas as high as it is.

Thanks for the help everyone and for the nice comments on my DD top.

Yes, they'll ship to you. I just ordered some Minnie dot fabric from hancocks and used the code "Welcome" for free shipping! It came within a few days and they even gave me an extra 18" of fabric!

This turned out really cute! I think some ribbon on the capris would really look nice to complete the outfit. Great work! ::yes::

I bought from Hancock's online last month. I got very slow shipping...so maybe it is touch and go as I know PP said she got hers relatively quick. I ordered on 6/28 and did not receive it until 7/16. Honestly I was starting to wonder where the heck my shipment was because I ordered A LOT of fabric (over $300). They have a good selection though and have some prints that I can't seem to find locally. I was in no hurry, but I hope if I order again from them that they are a little speedier in getting my order to me.

I decided to take a spur of the moment road trip with my 3 youngest dds, we drove from TN to WV to see ds, dgd and dd16 (goes to WV for the summers). Anyway, I've had to catch up on 12 pages of posts and I hope I can remember what I wanted to say about each of these....

Very nice Ariel outfit!!!!

Aimee - sorry to hear about your dd, I really hope everything gets worked out soon!

This was my first attempt at an applique. I just cut out the image out of a pillowcase. I made a few mistakes. Once I sewed through the back of the t-shirt. Opps! I had to rip that out. I originally started on her collar, and decided it looked bad. I think after I wash it, the stitch holes will tighten up and not be so obvious. I'm slowly getting better.

I just bought that same pillowcase at a thrift shop, not sure what I'm going to do with it, but I have it for whenever!

OMG, I love the shoes!!! I hope you don't mind me copying for dd2!

Okay ladies- I did my first boys shirt and fancied up some jeans. They are a bit big for ds, but we still have 5 months till WDW so I figure it's better to have it big!! So what do you guys think?

100_5920.jpg
Very cute!!
Hello Ladies,
I just finished Destiny's Ariel outfit. I think she likes it!
Shamiki, I love those pants and I hope you don't mind, but I'm gonna copy them for dd8 & dd6. I made them pillowcase tops just like yours, except one has red trim and the other has pink. I'm going to ad a ruffle also!

Very cute! I bought some of the Pooh toile, for my "one of these days" stash!

My daughter makes this terrible squishy face when the cameras out and says Cheese, we can hardly get a picture of her not making it!

I love the Cuties dress and my dd2 does the exact same thing. It's hard to get a picture of her without that face!

Oh, and here is a pillowcase dress made of a vintage snow white sheet set. I made one for each of my 4 girls. They all have snow white doing different things with the 7 dwarfs. Here is image of the front and back.

Michelle, I love that vintage fabric. I tried to get some Dumbo, but got outbid while I was on the road!

Robin is the official Queen of PhotoShop!!!!

The other thing I can't find are the directions for the layered skirt. I thought there was one specifically for tulle in the bookmarks, but I can't find it. I found a pattern (McCall's 5090) but I was looking for the directions on the internet before I invested in the pattern. I have a pattern for a tiered skirt, but this one has the tulle as the middle layer so it is more like the one I mentioned.

Did you find what you were looking for?

I did finish my DD Tinker Bell dress. She picked out all the fabric and I think it turned out pretty cute.

I think it's beautiful!

Anyhoo, here is a shirt I made for my teen DD. Not really a sewing project, but clothes nonetheless. I will be making one like it for myself (although probably a different pirate fabric for the lettering just to have some variation).

I wish dd16 would let me do something like this for her. She's determined to not wear anything homemade!

Firt attempt!!!!!!! That is fabulous!!

I love the top and think the capris will look perfect with some embellishing!

OK! I am back on page 403.... But I thought I would post then try to catch up. Here is the picture of DD the day of the Wedding.
aaPicture301.jpg

And here is my latest creation. The kids are having a double birthday party on Sunday. This is DD's dress. I am going to work on a shirt for DS tonight :goodvibes

She is sooooo sweet in her flower girl dress! Her hair is adorable. Did you end up hair spraying it?

Congrats Amy!!!!! You're much braver than me! We planned to stop at 2 and then ended up with a surprise #3. Best wishes!

If you are going to be in OP you can hit the JoAnn and then the Hobby Lobby across the street and the Wal-mart right across from the Hobby Lobby and then go up Metcalf a little to the Hancock! I am going to Hancock today (hopefully) I will see what they have and let you know in the morning. I will be back to "town" Tuesday, so if there is anything you are interested in I can pick it up for you. I live in the middle of nowhere in KS too! Sounds like I'm a little closer to the action than you are though!
