What’s for Dinner Tonight?

We went out with some friends last night.
A friend picked the restaurant so it was new for us. It wasn’t that great. It was Italian which is my favorite. I had some seafood pasta dish and DH had gnocchi with sausage. He had an old fashioned and shared a couple bottles of red wine with the table. I wish I could drink red wine. Haha
I had a margarita and then a cappuccino after dinner. I think the drinks were the best part.
It wasn’t a terrible inedible meal but it’s not a place we’ll be going back to.

Had an early dinner at Woodranch last night. The one down from the road from us is consistently good, so it’s a go to when we want an easy dinner out.

I had a burger & fries with a glass of Pinot noir and hubby had a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and an IPA.

Cheers to Sunday! 🌷🌺💐

I'm making Tropichops, which is basically a rice & grilled chicken bowl with lettuce, black beans (or pintos), grilled onions & peppers + sauces. I love most of the Pollo Tropical sauces, but since I'm making them not Pollo, I'm going to limit it to salsa & the curry mustard sauce tonight.

We had family lunch today. We ordered Italian from the restaurant in my town. My dad had chourico and peppers pizza, mom had penne with meat sauce, DH had antipasto salad and cheesy garlic bread. I was just going to have salad, but I just started the 30-30-3 program today and was soooo full from breakfast I couldn’t even look at food. We also ate an hour later bc of the time change.
I hate changing the clocks!!!

Tonight was... different. DD is in a production of Wizard of Oz, I am the production manager, and SIL is on the stage crew. We were all at rehearsal today (in 3 separate cars, with the LittleGuy along) when DD landed a jump incorrectly and ended up in a heap on the stage. She had a huge swelling on the top of her left foot, as big around as a golf ball and swollen almost as large, and it started bruising immediately. SIL took her to walk-in care, LittleGuy and I came home to get DH, took him back to the dance studio to get DD's car, we took the car to her house and unloaded her groceries. It was 5:45 and they hadn't been seen yet, so DH, LG, and I got back in my car, picked up Chinese food, and ate at our house (as DH had to go to a meeting at 7:30). DD is basically OK, badly bruised/probable bone bruising, and is home with ice and elevation. SIL just came to pick up LG and leftover Chinese food for himself and DD.

So supper was Chinese take out. 🥠🥠

I made Swiss Steak using an America's Test Kitchen recipe. I added mashed golden potatoes with cheese and a hint of ground red pepper. I steamed green beans and tossed them with olive oil and lemon zest. Some soft rolls from the freezer on the side. My sister brought pecan bars and we served them with vanilla ice cream.

I'm glad nothing was broken, but deep bruising is also very painful. I hope she doesn't have to miss her performance.

Went to a local beach resort for my Dad’s 81st birthday. He’s always so inspiring. Healthy, active and charming as always.

No dinner since we didn’t eat until 1:30ish for the celebration. I had a large green salad and a beautiful piece of quiche Lorraine. With a nice glass of bubbly to cheers dear ole pops. 🥂

Tonight was Lidia Bastinach's Stir-fry Chicken. Usually make twice a month. I don't add the mushrooms and use less Balsamic Vinegar than in the recipe. I also vary between regular or White.
I’ll have to try this. I love her recipes!
