Anyway, I was wondering where the black with pink polka dot fabric came from. I searched my JoAnn's and couldn't find it. I was going to check Wal Mart next. If anyone knows, please let me know.
The other thing I can't find are the directions for the layered skirt. I thought there was one specifically for tulle in the bookmarks, but I can't find it. I found a pattern (McCall's 5090) but I was looking for the directions on the internet before I invested in the pattern. I have a pattern for a tiered skirt, but this one has the tulle as the middle layer so it is more like the one I mentioned.
All this is important because my son wants me to make him something! He found the ugliest, scariest skull fabric and wants me to make shorts for Disney. I am so excited to do something for him, but this fabric is way creepy! Anyway, I thought I would make his sister a matching skirt if I can find the fabric and directions. Thanks for your help!
The fabric you mention is at Wal-Mart, or at least that's where I found mine. I know we discussed the tulle twirl skirt here on the boards after LadyRob did hers, so there may be instructions for it actually posted on the thread in a post, but not necessarily bookmarked. Quickly though, you need 3 layers (top layer, tulle, and then the under layer. They are all sewn together and then attached to a yoke that is made of the same fabric as the top layer because it shows. Your waistband is just a simply casing made by turning down the yoke 1.5 inches or so. Hope this helps a little.
I'm glad your son is getting involved and such. Sorry he picked out suck creepy fabric. Would you really want to put your dd in it though if it is so scary?
Good luck.
You all are so creative. DW likes to make outfits for DD to wear, and I have showed her some of the outfits that you all have made. She is inspired to make a coulple of new outfits for our trip this year!
Here are a few photos of last year at Disney:

Your dd is a doll, and your wife is to for making all those wonderful outfits. I think they are all so cute. She did a great job. We really liked the pirate one in our house. So, will we get to *meet* your DW? Tell her to come sit a spell or maybe you don't want her spending all that money on fabric and then spending hours upon hours at the fabric store.
I've had several requests from people here to see examples of the custom autograph albums I've made for my kids and customers.
The autograph books are amazing. Great work!!! I bet you do get a lot of attention with them.
Hi Melissa,
I think having Ariel continue around to the back is a great idea! DS had the cutest outfit when he was little that had a tiger that continued around and I've been planning a similar custom outfit for DD (our favorite football team's mascot is a tiger).
I'll post some pics:
Front:

GEAUX Tigers!!!!
I did 2 things - 1 as you asked and the other with pattern stripes and collar.
Thanks for doing this. You know, I thought it needed more of the FAtW fabric, but now I don't know. I do like that the collar has more, but you have to make the collar with a seem in the back in order to turn the fabric around so all the kiddos would be right side up. Otherwise they'd be upside down on one side.
Anyway, thanks again.
I love the birthday dress. It has a very high twirl factor, and she's adorable in it. Nice job.
Okay, you guys are scary. Bringing out the lurkers in all of us. I too, am officially become
obsessed with this thread.

But you can't say you weren't warned!!

I would say that you can sew very well. I think you did a wonderful job, and she looks very happy with it as well. Nice job. So, are there some matching capris or anything in that outfit's future. Nothing too young, of course. Sorry. I'm just looking for ideas for my girls. They aren't as old as your dd, but don't like all the ruffles and frills. Oh well.....
My DD and I started a project today. We are making hair bows. She is helping me with all the design choices and I am doing the technical stuff. All the money she earns will be going into her savings account.
Good luck to ya'll on your new venture. I like the bows, but really love the autograph bag. Even with 2 girls, I've never gotten into the bows since I knew they wouldn't keep them in their hair. They are pretty though.
I've been away from the disboards for so long since our trip that I forgot to post pictures!! It was a trip to remember for sure....Mya was SUPER sick for all but the last day with a terrible stomach bug. Luckily she didn't throw up on any of her outfits, lol.
Poor thing. She looks great though. Everyone does. I guess you'll just have to plan another trip there pronto, so she can see how much fun it really can be.
Okay, now for the other fabric I found, I noticed a few other RARE Disney and other character prints and I wanted to share in case somebody else HAS to have something.
Thanks for doing this. I've already PMed you, but I do like all the fabrics -- especially the teacups fabric. We just can't do flannel here. Bummer.

Does anyone know where these fabrics can be found besides Ebay?
As of last week, our Joann's had these. I'm going to try to get back there today. They have either Simplicity or Butterick patterns for $1.99 this weekend. I forget which one though. I'll be happy to look for you. Just let me know.
Well, it is 1:45 and I have not finished any of my real work but . . .
I did finish my DD Tinker Bell dress. She picked out all the fabric and I think it turned out pretty cute. This is the first Disney dress I have made and the third dress I have ever made.
I used McCalls 5088 and improvised.
This is the fabric she picked out.
I think it is great, and are those sprinkles that I see in that solid pink fabric? Very cute. I can't wait to see it on.
Since we've been talking about linings and such and these fabrics can get expensive, I often use a solid color cotton as lining. That way I don't need as much of the more expensive fabric. Of course, now, that means more of the nice fabric for appliques and such. Just something I thought I'd pass along.
Anyhoo, here is a shirt I made for my teen DD. Not really a sewing project, but clothes nonetheless. I will be making one like it for myself (although probably a different pirate fabric for the lettering just to have some variation).
Very nice. How long did it take to add the bling though? How!! I love it though. I really makes the tee.
I'm so excited and envious of all the outfits ya'll have made. I haven't done anything in many days. I have just been really trying to spend some time with my girls and we're trying to go through the house and get rid of old toys and clothes and stuff before school starts.
I was also wondering if it is possible to add a place where everyone can put their ebay ID. Isn't that allowed on the DIS? Maybe on the first post or in Theresa's bookmarks. No auctions, of course. Just a list of who's who.
Have a great day everyone.
