No flames here ... just trying to strategize ... not take advantage of anything.

We will be traveling with 2 kids and will have the free DDP. I noticed that not all the menus on allears list kids menu options. Do their cards get flagged differently for counter service meals? AND ... Do you have to order them a kids choice if one is available? My biggest concern is that there is not a lot of variety for the kids choices so I'm just trying to plan ahead as to where we could go to get something other than PB&J, chicken strips and mac & cheese.

Any advice/info is appreciated. Thanks

Here's my list of Kids Picks at various Counter Service locations. Some of this may be out of date, and I do not have every CS location on my list (this is just what we personally use at the parks). Hope it helps!

Just got back from WDW in June and I have to say that my son who is 9 was disappointed time and time agian by the children's menu. Most of the counter and sit down restaurants offer the same P&J, the worst Mac and Cheese I've ever tasted, Chicken Strips and Hotdogs. Why they don't offer at least one ethnic choice at the Epcot counter meal restaurants was the most frustrating. I think the Mexicain and one in Japan were the only ones that broke with the standard Kid's menu offered all over Disney World Resorts.

Do you have to order a kids menu counter service meal if one is available on the free dining plan or can they order anything from the menu?? :confused3

If a children's menu is available, the policy is that children 3-9 on the dining plan must order from the children's menu.

If there is no separate children's menu, they can order off the regular menu.

I thought I read somewhere on the board that all the CS credits were combined and that they do not distinguish between the chidren and adults. BUT I am not sure where that thread is... ugh, sorry.

It is mentioned on the cited thread (and now this one) that this board does not advocate the violation of Disney policies concerning the dining plan. Disney policy is that children's dining plan credits are not to be used to order adult meals. There's a reason why the children's plan costs so much less.

Your key card is printed with the number of children and adults on your reservation, so when you order all they would need to do is look at the card to see how many adults and children in your party.

Last year we ordered 3 adult meals at a CS in MK and they didn't even ask anything with my 7 year old standing right there. I had all full intentions of ordering her the adult meal and I would eat the meal off the childs menu since she didn't like anything there, then the CM working the register told us to just go ahead and order her the burger that she wanted. (Then for breakfast the next day we ordered 2 kids waffle meals to make up the difference).

I think this has changed though. I have read on here somewhere that the CS credits are now flagged as well as the TS credits. If that is the case, I will be ordering the 2 adult meals and one childs meal then I will just eat the kid meal so my daughter can enjoy what she will eat. She doesn't eat chicken nuggets, hotdogs, etc. She would rather eat off of the adult menu at most CS and TS.

Agree. . . and we wonder why prices continue to go up on the DDP :confused3

This thread is now closed, as it is veering toward advocation of Disney policy violation by using your child's credits to order adult meals.
