Kids clothing...I may have gone overboard

March 18 - 28 - It will be on the front of your Gymbucks always. :)

Its not a matter of NOT having the money. I have just never did the big sweep, thats why I questioned it. But I know for sure that over the course of the seasons (spring & summer) I would have spent that. But I did get a little sticker shock.

It's your money to spend as you see fit. If it's O.K. for you and your hubby, who are we to say no?

But I gotta ask--why on Earth does your daughter need a purse to match each outfit? What could she possibly be carrying in a purse? Car keys, lipstick, wallet with credit cards? I hope not! Wouldn't one purse for her doll's stuff be plenty?

Thirty outfits and 4 bathing suits are excessive enough, but matching purseS? WTH?

Am I the only one that thinks this is a joke? I feel foolish for even answering it seriously in the beginning.

Sometimes the original poster has two boys (more than one post) sometimes she has a daughter and a son. Two days ago her daughter was 3, today she is almost 5.

excessive is not the word
it is not a question of whether or not you can afford it
a little girl that age will never wear out 30 outfits
yikes
you are teaching them values for the future
I have two children and I would never spend that much on them for a season or two

We always hit sales. Kids wear all the popular labels just not at regular prices. Unless my mom is shopping. She paid over $90 for one outfit for my baby from Gymboree and I told her that was excessive.
It included pants, sweater, onsies, socks, & shoes but still she only wore it a few times.
I could have gotten her 5 or 6 outfits at least somewhere else on sale.
We always find sales on Carter's, Children's Place, Gymboree, Babygap, old Navy, Cherokee, Landsend, etc
I have my mom buying them Fresh Produce clothes on her cruise right now. It is 1/2 price in St. Thomas. I can not bear to pay those prices.

well you know how pesky those details can be. :p

Thought I was the only one that noticed.

Details details.

 2 boys then 1 boy and 1 girl. Age went from 3 to 5 in a few months.......maybe she forgot and really has 3 kids hence the need for 30 outfits. ;) Or she's not into giving out to much private info so as not to make it easy for scammers to find her real name and all that kind of stuff.

Good Detective work guys. You sure have lots of spare time on your hands:p If you really did your homework you would notice that I have only been here 8 months and am just working my way in. CajunDixie hit the nail on the head. I am not one to give too much information out. Deceitful, I don't think so. Ages and genders changed to protect the innocent. I am sorry if I offended any of you, but believ you me, that shopping trip today was real.

DS 11 will be spending every week day at the pool this summer and I was able to get him 4 LandsEnd bathing suits for $9.50 each and 1 for $13.50. These were each about 50% off the original price. I then went to Wal*Mart and bought Fruit of the Loom T-Shirts and tank tops, 5 of each, to coordinate with the swim suits. The 10 shirts cost $42.25. That's it for the summer. He's got shorts from last summer (some Wal*Mart, some Lands End) along with some "picture T's" and dress up shirts.

My big problem is shoes. He is 11 years old and already wears mens size 12! About every other month he complains that his shoes are too small. I don't skimp on shoes, but this is getting to be a lot of $$. I notice in the regular shoe stores that the biggest size is 13, rarely do I see a size 14. Where do I go from there? Special order = BIG $$$. I know, DH wears a size 6 and I have to special order his shoes. (sigh)

What's a "scammer" and how would they find out a person's real name and information about them? Now I'm worried!

Enlighten me on how anybody would find out who you and your children are based on the facts that one of them is a boy and the other is a girl? So which one is true, is it 2 boys or a boy and a girl?

Personally, I'm with you hentob.

Yes, $976 is excessive. Yes, 30 outfits with matching purses is excessive. More than 2 swim suits (to start the summer off) is excessive. But that is just my humble opinion.

I'm heading to the outlet mall on Sunday to gear up my kids for the summer (ds 7, dd 5 and dd 3). I've already went through their drawers (dressers, lol) and decided what each of them needs. Most days, my kids survive in swim suits and cover ups, with the occasional shorts/shirt thrown in. I usually hit Old Navy for cheap shirts so I don't flip over those chocolate ice cream stains or popsicle stains or grass stains, etc...

I put more money into the fall/winter wardrobe since they don't tend to massacre them. Summer is for being "kids". I'd rather toss a stained $3.00 shirt then worry over the stain stick, oxyclean, brush, tide, etc... just because they ate an ice cream cone.

Basically, $976 is excessive and I think was posed just for a rile up. Oh well...

Well, I am right there with you on summer clothes shopping. I have spent over $250 on DD so far and we still need to buy sandals, water shoes, at least 1 more swimsuit, and couple of other things. So far I have done all of my shopping at Old Navy, Kohl's, and TJ Maxx. Pretty much everything that I bought was on sale. :)

cough*bs*cough...

real or not, of course you feel it is excessive or you wouldn't be telling 50,000 people about it...it would be a non-issue

I just can't imagine why a 4 year old girl needs 30 outfits. The girls that age that I either had or know had one thing they would wear and that was it. Most likely a bathing suit and rain boots, or a winter coat and flip flops. Doesn't bother me one bit if you waste your money, but I wonder if she'll ever even get to wear some of the items. Please pass them on to those less fortunate when ou are finished. Every little girl would love a new Easter dress.

I promise I'm not BS'***!!!:p

I buy my DD just as much. She usually does get 2 years out of some of the clothig. Gymboree stuff wears really well so I either pass them down to my niece or sell them on ebay after DD has outgrown them. I like her to wear a new outfit everyday to school. Every holiday I buy her a new outfit for that. She does sometimes get the purses to go with the outfits, sunglasses too! If you calculate the cost of the average pair of pants at Gymboree, $36, then you can see how it could add up to so much money.
