Ooh, ooh, I know! Can I have a cookie now?

Okay - I am not a Mommy yet, but I will be the Mommy of a little girl on or about June 1. My little girl already has quite a few little outfits from Gymboree, as well as a darling little sailor dress from Janie and Jack (supposedly the "upscale" Gymboree...)

Anyway - what are GYMBUCKS?? II have a feeling this is something I need to know about for future purchases...

Kids grow up so fast. ::yes::

I know what you mean...one minute they are 3 and next thing ya know they are 5! But her kids...the gender even change. Sometimes she have 2 boys and sometimes she have a boy and a girl!!

WOW!! NO WAY...NO HOW I am going to spend that kind of money! That is a bit too much. I don't buy my kids everything in one day for them to wear it for 6 months. The kids grow, so I buy them as they grow.

I'll give you a helpful, money saving hint. You can buy decent underwear from Target or Walmart. No one sees your kids undies or the label.

Teaching a child that is OK to have a new outfit every single day is setting them up for heartache later in life if they can't afford to live that way OR if they marry someone with common sense who says "No. You can't have a new outfit everyday." Of course, I suppose you could see to it that that be part of their wedding vows.;)

Of course I must just be really, really, really cheap because I usually buy most of my DS's clothes at Wal-Mart, Target or Land's End.

It must be something in the water...I just read back what I wrote and I was wrong. Almost all of DS's clothes come from Wal-Mart, Target or Old Navy ---- not Land's End. I don't know why I got those mixed up because I have never shopped for Land's End stuff. It must be past my bedtime. ;)

Actually this thread reminded me that I needed to start looking at the Old Navy website. T-shirts and shorts are on 2 for $10 and several other t-shirts are only $6. Heck I might even be tempted to splurge on some denim short overalls (I sense a pattern with the overalls :) ) for $12.

I had better go check on DS now...he might be a 6 y/o girl by now!

You only have to watch the soap operas to see just how fast kids can grow up these days!!!!!

I agree Becka, most of 3yo DS's clothes are from Old Navy, Children's Place and KRU and he outgrows them all before they are worn out.

I'm cheap right with ya, Becka!!:teeth: I have two teens and I don't spend anything near that amount on them!!

We hit the sales at Aeropostale, Old Navy, Bon Ton, Boscov's etc. and yes, we shop a lot at WalMart, too.

And my DD, who is 18, got one new swimsuit last year, as did my 15 yr. old son.

Oh wait - I meant to say my 8 yr. old DD and my 12 yr. old fraternal twins.... no ...... I mean my 10.5748395746 yr. old son - an only child.....;)

Am I understanding Desnik to say that she likes her DD to wear a new outfit EVERY day? Thank God for uniforms! ;)

I'm curious if her son is held to the same standard.

AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!

I am really not right tonight....I went to add something to my post and I ended up editing the whole thing and deleting what I originally wrote. :p

The short version...Yes I find that amount excessive. I must be really, really, really cheap. I will be able to buy my DS's spring/summer wardrobe for probably less than $150. I do splurge on $25 Mickey short overalls and one pair $32 Stride Rite shoes from Dillards. DS has never worn out an outfit before he outgrew it so I don't buy the line that they more expensive clothes are better. Oh, and of course my DS will look just as cute in his cheaper duds as the kid down the street wearing designer labels.

Those of you who read my original post...did that about cover it?

Enlighten me on how anybody would find out who you and your children are based on the facts that one of them is a boy and the other is a girl? So which one is true, is it 2 boys or a boy and a girl?

You're going to rag on her over and over because SHE didn't feel comfortable enough giving you ALL her personal information and accurately too? She owes you nothing of the sort!

Geez, give people the opportunity to have SOME privacy will you?
I think I'm gonna make it a point to find out more about YOU and YOUR children, that ok with you Gymnasticsmom?

As far as spending a lot of money on clothing, to each his own. Who knows how the child may feel down the road. You may end up with a girl who likes to ONLY dress in cowboy clothing, ya just never know. :p

Mo doesn't wear a new outfit every day - Not even close but it is relatively easy to spend $900 and some dollars at Gymboree and Baby Gap if you are shopping for 2 seasons. I personally wouldn't do it all in one shopping trip as I like to purchase a few outfits from each line throughout the season but it will probably add up to about that much in the end.

Yes, *my* son is held to the same standard and I buy him plenty as well. His bill probably doesn't add up to as much because he doesn't get hair accessories etc.

We will have to add how much you spend on your kids clothes to the list of things not to bring up on the DIS ;)

HMMM PATTI is that a threat of some sort?

If you feel comfortable spending that money then go for it. I have 3 girls..never in their lives have they ever had more then 2 bathing suits (and those bought at sale prices) 1 pair of sneakers , 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of sandles, 1 pair of flipflops and 1 pair of water shoes. Even now that 2 of them are teens they do not get more then that unless they buy it with their own money or receive it as a gift. Only 1 time did I go shopping and spend a huge amount at one time...and that was $600.00...for all 3. I felt guilty for weeks after that.

Right now they probably have the most clothes they have ever owned thanks to very generous Grandmas at Christmas...plus the fact that the older 2 don't change size anymore!

BTW I actually have 2 boys and a girl, yep, that's a lot to go on.
