kids and adult shoe sizes ??

What is the difference between the youth and adult shoe sizes?
My daughter wears a 7 ladies shoe -but there are some cute kids shoes that go up to a youth 7 on the lands end site. Is a 7 youth the same as a 7 ladies?

I could be wrong but the youth 7 might be an itty bitty size 7 for like a 2 year old? If not I can't imagine that there would be a difference between the youth 7 and adult 7. Did you check their size chart?
 
I don't think they are the same. I'm pretty sure my DStepD was in a kid's 13 or so before she started trying women's sizes -- she's around a 6, 6 1/2 now. Not 100% because I didn't take her shoe shopping when she was younger, but I remember thinking WOW when I heard her foot was a 13 and then realizing it was still smaller than mine! (I'm an 8).
 
Kids are sized like mens. So you generally add a size and a half to go to womens sizes. A size 7 womens is a 5 1/2 kids usually.

And I'd double check on that Lands' End size, because I thought their kids shoes stopped at size 6 (The size I wear, 7 1/2 womens!)

2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, 11, 12, 13, 1, 2, 3, 4,

Continues to adult 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,
youth 7 would be a 3 or year old.

Unless she went from a 13 and had a HUGE growth spurt she would have gone from a 13 to a 1,2,3,4,5 then into adult sizes.

Baby sizes start a 1 (sometimes zero) and then up. WHen DS14 was 1 he wore a size 5, then 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 then around 1st grade or so wore a size 1 again then boys shoes stopped at a 5 or so and now wears a "mens" size 7.
 
Nope its not the toddler size 7. They have the toddler sizes up to a 8 then kids sizes up to a 13 then youth sizes from a 1 to a 7. I will call them and ask

Yes youth 7 is a toddler size. She will no longer fit into Kids sizes. tkd lisa is correct- I'm a size 5 but if I can get my sneakers in youth I usually do (cheaper) that size is a 3 1/2. Youth sizes stop at 4 1/2 which is the same as a 6. :teeth:
 
I just got off the lands end chat line. The Ladies sizes are two up from the youth sizes so the youth size 5 is equivalent to the ladies 7.
It was not a toddler size. They really have youth sizes up to 7. Thanks!
 
It sounds to me as if Land's End is using "youth" to describe young men's sizes. If so they will be a bit more wide than typical ladies shoes. A size 5 should fit her just fine.

I've worn many a pair of youth shoes. They seem to last longer and put up with all kinds of abuse, as well as being extra comfy on my extra wide feet. :)

Shoe sized in MN must work differently :rotfl2: . When DD outgrew the 4 1/2's kids she went to a 5 in ladies. There is no way a 3 1/2 would have fit her. Now I am really confused. :confused3
 
It's true....I just went through this. Sizes do not run right up the scale with girls shoes. I thought when my DD outgrew her girls size 4 that she'd go into ladies size 5. NOPE! Ladies size 5 is equal to around a girls size 3. She can wear a girls 4.5 or a ladies 6. There is a 1.5 sometimes 2 sizes difference on those borderline sizes.

It's really confusing!
 
I wear a ladies 6 and I can buy children's 4s. A woman wearing a 5 should be able to wear a 3 in children's. I buy my sneakers in the kids department since it usually saves me $20-$30 easily

Next time I am at someplace that sells shoes I am going to check this out. Weird that I never ran into this buying shoes for myself or DD???? :confused3
 
That's weird. :confused3 I have a pair of water shoes in a youth 7, and I normally wear a women's 7. They fit perfectly. They are not Land's End, but it still sounds like they shouldn't fit me in any brand. :confused3 :rotfl:

This is correct. I wear about a 7 and if I find a 5.5 in girls, I can wear them. It's great for Sketchers particularly, since the exact same style in girls is cheaper.

So add about 1.5 sizes to the girls size and you will get a ladies size :)
 
The scale is the same just certain manufacturers may run big or small. Boys do run differently than girls.
