Kid Swap Question....

Ok....this may be a long question for a short awnser! We are going to WDW in June and we are traveling with our friends so we will be doing a lot of the parks together. Between our two families we have seven kids (ages: 8,7,5,4,3,1,1) So obviously on some of the rides some of our kids won't be going due to height res. or just genuine fear! :) Is it possible to do a kid swap in a way so that our friends could ride as a family and then we could go as a family? They have 4 Kids (8,5,3,1) and we have the other three?

I was trying to figure out a way that this could work(legally)! Anyone ever done this before or have any ideas? It would be awesome to hear your thoughts!

Thanks so much

It was just my DH and I last time with my DD2, but I did learn how to do child swap. I think that my way of doing baby swap is legal - if not, I apologize.

Let's say you go to MK and want to ride on Splash Mtn and Big Thunder Mtn. One family uses their fast pass for Splash Mtn, the other family for Big Thunder Mtn. When it's fast-pass time to ride Splash Mtn, go to the fast pass, tell them that you want to do child swap. Family #1 rides, and the family sitting out w/ babies will get a fast pass ticket to go through the fast pass line with the other family comes out. (I don't remember how many was allowed with the fast pass return). Then, family #2 rides. You then do the same thing for Big Thunder Mtn.

The Rider Switch Pass allows up to 3 guests to use the FP line. So, you need to have a combination of FP and RSP to allow a group to enter the FP line. I would do as the PP suggested, and have one family get FP for one ride, and the other family get FP for another ride, then swap them around in whatever manner to make it work. Just quickly thinking about it, one group will probably need to ride stand-by for each ride, so take turns with that.

So if three people can use the rider swap would it be ok if it was 2 adults and a child? Or will that not matter.....?

Thanks!

Any three guests can use the Rider Switch pass. It doesn't need to even be the one who waited...the only requirement is that you have a child that is under the height requirement.

Understand about the Rider Switch pass though - it is only given out at attractions where there is a Fastpass queue and a height restriction, and there is a child under the height limit. Fear is generally not sufficient and other arrangements might need to be made. Your 1 year olds will definitely be under the height limit :)

Between the two families, you should be able to get two Rider Switch passes. Be sure to present to the CM separately so there is no confusion. This would allow 6 riders to enter through the Fastpass line the second time. Assuming you have 4 adults and the 3yo is under the height requirement, this could work out perfectly for the older kids without requiring getting Fastpasses. Two adults would take the 4 kids through the attraction via the standby line, return, and the other two adults could take the 4 kids again a second time!

If the 3yo can (and will ride), it gets a little more complicated because someone won't be able to ride a second time - unless you get a single Fastpass, and at least wait until the return time of the Fastpass to use the Rider Switch passes as well. Rider Switch passes are NOT TIMED - you can use them anytime during the day until closing.

You can also get child swap /rider switch passes at TSM - nothing to do with height, based on age/developmental appropriateness for young children.

The Rider Switch Pass allows up to 3 guests to use the FP line.

It's been about a year and a half since I had to use one, but when we did it I was told that I was allowed to bring up to 3 guests with me in addition to myself which would make 4 guests. It would make sense for most rides except Space since they would seat you 2 and 2. Has anyone been told this recently? I'm not trying to split hairs but it would make it a lot easier for the OP since her family could just ride 2nd as there is 4+ baby.

I've used them plenty, and they have always said "up to three guests" for as long as I can remember. You can see an example of an old one on my web page (when they still used the old card stock) for Mission: Space which says the same thing, and that is one that you would think if they used your thinking they would have allowed four.

They allow the two extra guests so that the person need not ride alone, not to fill a certain number of seats. I'm not sure why they arrived at 3 guests instead of 2.

Oh well. It was worth a shot. 3 does seem like a strange # for rides like EE, RNR and Mission Space though. :confused3
