i got it from althams travel, go on their website to see where their nearest one is and give them a ring to see what the rate is for the day, i rang around this morning and that is the rate they were offering.

I don't go until next june but yesterday I decided to buy $2000.00 just to have a good chunk of spending money at a reasonable rate. I used travelex and got 1.8621. It seems strange buying so early but I feel better knowing that I have it now.

Fairfx is still 1.8775 for now. I just know when I get my money back it'll shoot down!

Hi Guys,

We travel Feb 09, is the concensus (sp?) of opinion that I should buy my dollars now??
In the past we have always taken cash but I really like the idea of a prepaid card, which one would you recommend?? I was kinda hanging on for the crown currency one but don't want to do that if the exchange rate is going to get worse

I would hughly recommend the FairFX card. http://fairfx.com It hs the highest rate I've seen for pre-paid cards and is much higher than highstreet stores.

I have some on my card already from when it was $2 to the £1 which is great, but I'll be adding more on until it gets (if it gets) to the 1.80 mark. I'll use that as spending money then, it can be used anywhere. No charge for transactions, and only $2 to use an atm.
