Just how bad is RnRC??

One word of warning -- "love in an elevator" is even more insidious than "it's a small world." Seriously. The song stays in your head forever.

^^^^ THIS!! ::yes::

I can't help but think of that song every time I think of RnR. It gets so stuck in your head that you mutter it as your brushing your teeth at the end of the night! :rotfl:

Although, I will admit, I don't mind it being stuck in my mind all that much. There's more variety in the melody in "Love In An Elevator" than IASW, and I now HOPE to get the car that has that song playing during the ride. :p

I thought I would never ride it again, because my head was all over the place, making it not fun. (I had a mild headache and pain in my neck for hours afterward.)
However, I was sitting in the back. And most likely, I was checking to make sure everything was in place (glasses, pack etc), so my head was probably not back in position. So, I am going to try it again - but ask for the front and make sure my head is in position.

So for your first time (and my second):
Ask for the front (even if you need to wait for it)
And get in position before take off - And smile, someone said that your picture is taken at launch.

I adore RnR, one of my favorite rides. I hate heights but love speed, so this is perfect for me and really the only intense part is the launch itself. Like others have said if you can handle SM, then you can certainly handle this.

DD6 got on it and has loved it ever since she met the ride height. It's not scary at all, but if you have a child that is scared of most thrill rides, then they will not like RnRC.

Honestly, it's not bad at all! I hate heights and drops, but since RnRC is so dark, I cannot see how high up I am! Also, the last time I rode there was only one drop, and so minor I didn't even really notice until after. The worst part really is the beginning when you're shot out of the gate so fast, but it's over so quick that it's bearable to me. Honestly...I thought Space Mountain was MUCH scarier! It really is one of my absolute favorites in WDW. If you can do Space Mountain you will be just fine! And I swear I'm telling the truth, because I know I wouldn't want someone to lie to me when asking about rides! I'ts also very smooth which helps to make it more enjoyable. You might get bumped around a bit, but nothing like the horrors of the feeling you go when getting off of the pre-refurb Space Mountain!

Let me preface this by saying that I typically hate roller coasters. I hate drops, I HATE heights, and I am a worst case scenario person that believes the coaster will break and fall to the ground while I am on it.
I love BTMRR because the "ground" always stays with you. I hate Space Mountain (literally cried after riding it my first and only time). Expedition Everest is decent...I just keep my eyes closed during the ascent. Only part I dislike is the disorientating feeling when going backwards. As far as RnRC...for a few years, I was adamantly against it. Then I made it as far as getting a fastpass, but never using it. Last year I FINALLY did it. The ride itself is awesome and smooth. Never really felt the drops or anything. I think it also helped that I love Aerosmith, so I was singing along with the songs. The only part I hated was the launch...hated it so much that I actually refused to go on the ride when I returned to Disney a couple weeks later. I am sure I will go back on again...just wish that launch wasn't part of it.

The start is very fast. You definitely need to keep your head back. After that, it's just fun. I actually got a nosebleed every time I rode it on one trip I took. I would wait for the nosebleed to stop and then go ride it again. Really weird, because I rarely get those. I'm almost positive that the pressure of the speed caused it.

My BIL is terrified of heights and we convinced him to ride it in 2009. I (accidentally, I swear) told him it didn't have loops. I have no idea why I thought that, except maybe because it's so smooth I'd just forgotten? Anyway...he loved it. He said that it was one of the least scary coasters he's been on. FWIW, he refused to ride Everest, ToT, etc.

I feel like I've been in a street fight after I get off the ride being that my head gets jolted around a bit.........but not a deal breaker.........I love it!! I do like EE much better though.

I mean, it's pretty intense IMO. But that's the thing, everyone is different. There are tall 4 year olds that ride it :rotfl2: DH literally does "the sleeper" and pretends to be asleep during the takeoff which is insane to me! Have you gone on The Hulk at Universal? Or anything that shoots you off from 0-70 MPH in 3 seconds? lol. Try it! You may love it, you may hate it. :thumbsup2

I used to love it but last trip I was only able to do it once BUT I will probably try it again since I am not sure if the ride made me feel sick or the fact that it stopped and we were stuck on it (not upside down or anything) but All I could think was crap what if we HAD been upsidedown so I may have paniced myself into feeling sick lol

I've got to say that the only two rides I haven't done at Disney World are the RRnR and ToT (look at me using acronyms!) Threads like this keep convincing me that I could do it, but that's hard to remember when you watch the launch or hear the screams from the top of the Tower. ;)

I'm really going to challenge myself to go on at least one of them on my upcoming trip. I'm just about the biggest ride wuss out there. I didn't even do Space Mountain until I forced myself in college. I did BTMRR and Expedition Everest on the trip before last, and survived. On my last trip, I did Splash Mountain and didn't die either.

I don't know if I'll pull it off or not though. My heart is pounding just sitting here and thinking about it :lmao: Is it ok to ask the CMs for that last bit of reassurance? I wonder if trying to make friends in the line for a seat partner would help, too. :confused3

IMO, RnRC is much smoother than Space Mtn.

If you can handle Space without feeling sick, you should be fine on RnRC.

I love the actual ride itself......but I learned the last time, make sure you do infact keep your head rested on the head rest before this thing takes off. WHIPLASH!

You need to realize that most of the screaming you hear is not really people screaming out of fear, but out of excitement. A roller coaster is one of the few places where it is socially acceptable to scream at the top of your lungs - it just makes the ride more fun for some people.
And, I'm pretty sure that more people get struck by lightning than actually ever get hurt (let alone die) on a Disney ride.

My mom and brother need to hear this, because when we went on ToT for the first time a few years ago, I was screaming madly. It was a happy scream, like a "AHHHH I'M HAVING SO MUCH FUN EEEEE!!!" kind of scream. They insisted I was screaming because I was scared. I'm one of the many people that scream for most thrill rides. I'm hardly ever SCARED of them. Maybe nervous the first time, but not scared. :headache: I feel weird if I don't scream during a ride. I actually tried not screaming during one of my many rides of RnR, and it just didn't feel right......wasn't as exciting. :confused3

So what I'm getting at is, screaming isn't necessarily a bad thing, like LaurenT said. It usually means a good thing. Means a ride is a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

I think it is MUCH easier to handle than Space. My boyfriend went on both for the first time back in May, and he was not a fan of Space at all, but loved Rockin Rollercoaster.

I'm trying to decide whether to do the RnRC?

I don't like high, thrill ride roller coasters but have been OK with fast rides in the dark ( I can't see how high up I am! :lmao: )

I love Space Mountain and The Mummy at Universal - so I thought I'd probably enjoy RNRC BUT a friend of mine (who also loves Space) said she hated RnRC and was very nearly sick after it :confused3

This friend of mine does get car sick and I never do - so I wondered if that might be the explanation?

So those of you that do both Space and RnRC - how would you compare them???

TIA
Andona

I despise roller coasters:confused3

But....
I love EE!!! (go figure :scratchin)
Used to love Space Mountain (as we age, some of us enjoy the jostling around less)
I'll throw in that I love ToT (DH still trying to figure that out)

And...
Riding RRC once is enough for me. If I could post that gosh awful pic they take of you, you'd understand why!:rotfl2:

Tho, DH, DS and DD all say this is the BEST roller coaster they have every experienced and they have rode many.

ENJOY... you hafta ride at least once!:thumbsup2

It's weird that I rode EE the trip before last and had a good time, but didn't get myself up to it on my last time. :confused3

I want to enjoy :thumbsup2 so I've made a plan, and that usually will get me going where I want to go, even if I'm not sure about it...

Since I'll be at MK the first night I'm there, I'll ride BTMRR and Splash to get some coastering and dropping under my belt. I'll be at MK again the day before I go to HS, and I'll hit SM and maybe one of the other two again. Then, the day of "doom" :p Then ask for the front of RnRC (is there a better row for tall folks?) and ask someone in the ToT line to hold my hand during the ride :rotfl:

IT was RNRC that convince me I would die if I went upside down on a coaster (and I am ashamed to say I was in my mid forties at the time:lmao:)

The coaster is so smooth and fast--the darkness helped since I could not see the inversion loop.

The launch is extreme. Make sure to keep your head firmly back against the rest and SCREAM. Really, scream. It does help. Plus the ride photo is taken at the beginning so I am always looking my best--eyes bugging out, cheeks flapping from the acceleration, and my yob wide open. Not Pretty. It actually looks something like this:
