Just got off the phone with DH and I am so sad...

My husband left about 2 weeks ago for his year... I'm having a hard time trying not to dwell on the things he will be missing with the boys. I'm trying to keep things as "normal" as possible and taking lots of pictures.

If you come up with any unique ideas on helping the time go by quicker for our kids, please post!

Take care,
jill

DD doesn't have a dress rehearsal but they do have class tonight where they wear their costume and practice. We are both going to this at 6pm. I am also getting DH to have pictures taken with the girls before he deploys. He is going to try to take Thursday off so he can spend the day with us, but we don't know if they will let him yet. We haven't told Remy he is leaving yet; I am not sure how to do this. I mean, she knows he has to leave again, but really how much does a 5 yo understand?! DD has NO concept of time, everything is either last week, the other day, 2 months ago, or "remember when I was a baby?" *sigh* I have to go so I can put her hair up for dance. Thank you for all your support and comments! It does help alot. This has just turned into a ROTTEN day.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I am so sorry that your DH will be gone.....My ds has been over there several months and his sister who just turned 8 still doesn't understant whats going on. All she knows is Christopher is in Iraq helping people and won't be home for a long time. My heart goes out to all the military wives and mothers out there. I admire the strenght you have to carry on....Can you send him a DVD of the performance? I know in many of the areas the guys have DVD players. Good luck to you and your family:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Nothing to add but a hug... God bless your DH and keep him safe.

I have friends who girls are in dance too and have recitals and they were not allowed to tape it. they do provide a chance to buy a video though. I was told you would be told to leave if you were caught taping the recital, so check all the paperwork they give you to make sure you can tape it. That goes for photos too.

Sorry dad will miss the recital. Just thought I would warn you of what I have heard about dance recital rules before you run out and buy your DVD camera/recorder.

Awh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

It breaks my heart to hear of all these brave soldiers having to leave their families and all they will miss. God bless each and every one of them for their sacrifice and keep them safe. May their families keep the faith and remain strong. Come late summer I will be in your boat as my son is slated to go.
I know it will not be a happy day.....

Godspeed ^i^

To all of you that have loved ones that are there or are being deployed, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all they do to keep us safe. God bless and keep all of you in His loving care until you are re-united again.

I am so sorry this is happening to you and your family. It must be very hard. I appreciate your sacrifice you are all giving to us. Hugs to all of you!!

I'm so sorry, and thank you.

Oh my...positive thoughts and prayer heading your way.

I am so sorry. Wish there was something I could say to make it better but I know there isn't. I know what you mean about letting deployments sneak up on you...so true. I've done that too.

God bless your family. Take lots of pictures!

I'm sorry :( I so much appreciate your husband and I appreciate the sacrifices you make so that he can protect our country.

I hope you can film the performance. He will still miss it but a film would be the next best thing.

Why don't you put on a private "ballet recital" for your husband? You could let your daughter perform for her special Daddy.

Best Wishes,

Lori
That sounds great! I vote for this...as well as the DVD. Hugs to you!! Sad? That's just the tip of the ice berg.

Thank you for sacrificing so much for the rest of us. It must be very difficult for your family to be apart, not along miss such important events in each other's lives. Tell your daughter to "break a leg" from us on the DIS and I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that I hope your DH returns home to you safely. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.

::yes:: I totally agree with everything said here!

As a former military spouse, I know how hard it is when they have to go away! You and your family sacrifice so much for our country, and your husband puts himself in harms way to protect us...I thank you so much!

I am so sorry about your DH's deployment coming up so soon. I know it must be so difficult for you and your DD. I deeply appreciate the sacrifice that your husband, yourself, and your family make to protect us and preserve freedom.
