We just closed on VWL today (3/11). How soon before our name is in the system? Is there anything I can do to expedite the process so that we can make reservations? If anyone can share any of their experiences with me, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

John

I can't answer your questions about resale since we bought through DVD, but did I say...
CONGRATULATIONS & WELCOME HOME! :cool1:

If by "just closed today" you mean that you called the timeshare closing service (ie: escrow agent) and they confirmed that: (a) they have received your final payment, and (b) they have received the seller's executed deed, and (c) they have submitted the documentation to Disney and to the county -- thereby closing the transaction, then ....

Disney will have you in their DVC computers in the next 3-5 business days.

I suggest that you start calling member services on Tuesday and have them check to see if you are in the DVC computers. Your name should show up by next Friday.

Welcome to DVC!

I closed on my VWL resale the end of last week and booked my first trip yesterday. You're probably already in their computer:teeth:

Thanks for your responses. I will start calling Member Services on Monday to see if I am in the computer.

Our closing was officially scheduled for March 6th, but we got our paperwork in on the 26th of February. I called MS on Friday the 5th and we weren't yet in the system. I was too busy at work to check the following Monday, but we were in Tuesday morning the 9th. Got our ressies for a 1BR Boardwalk view next marathon weekend.

Congratulations once again. Hope you get exactly what you want!

Just closed on VWL. Now what?

Now you have to start planning on how you will use your 38 years of vacations at an awesome home!! :p

Congratulations & WELCOME HOME!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

When we closed after buying a resale, I believe our name was in the computer within days. However, I remember there being a few minor issues...they won't give you your member number on the phone. They will have to look you up by your name and your address or SS#...can't remember which. You can still make ressies, etc. We were also told that we would automatically receive member cards (with our member number on them). We were told it would be a number of weeks, but when the time had come and gone and we still didn't see cards, we called member services. We were told that they don't send them automatically, so they put in a request for them to be sent. I think we still had a problem receiving them, so had to call again. We got an agent who handled it and expedited it for us. It wasn't a big deal since we didn't have an impending trip, nor were we planning on shopping at the Disney stores and hoping for a discount, etc. My advice would be to make sure they have an order in for you to receive your member cards, and make sure you stay on top of it. Good luck and welcome home!!!

FYI - MS looked me up by SS#, confirmed all the contact information, made our ressies, then gave me our member number over the phone.
