When we closed after buying a resale, I believe our name was in the computer within days. However, I remember there being a few minor issues...they won't give you your member number on the phone. They will have to look you up by your name and your address or SS#...can't remember which. You can still make ressies, etc. We were also told that we would automatically receive member cards (with our member number on them). We were told it would be a number of weeks, but when the time had come and gone and we still didn't see cards, we called member services. We were told that they don't send them automatically, so they put in a request for them to be sent. I think we still had a problem receiving them, so had to call again. We got an agent who handled it and expedited it for us. It wasn't a big deal since we didn't have an impending trip, nor were we planning on shopping at the Disney stores and hoping for a discount, etc. My advice would be to make sure they have an order in for you to receive your member cards, and make sure you stay on top of it.
