Just booked our first stay at BLT...what should we be most excited about?

Thanks for your response.
I didn't realize these changes had happened.

I would think they could program the Magic Bands to let guests back into the building at night. I agree it is silly to have to find a bell hop.

I had no idea we couldn't go up to the deck anytime now. That is disappointing. Yes it is great to view fireworks, but also nice at other times, like you mention.

I heard on another thread that all BLT villas except studios will get sheer curtains. I don't like that the studios aren't getting them, seeing we usually book a 2 bedroom lockoff.
I was just there last month and had no problems getting in after hours with my magic band. Perhaps there was an issue with the magic band. They can be tricky, I once had one that worked for tickets and food but would not let me in the room until I sat with a CM for 15 mins to fix it.

All you have to do is scan your band to get in at night. I really doubt with a resort that size, they want CR bell hops to be constantly having to walk over to let people in.

hey maybe all my complaining and believe me I raised hell the next morning - it was after midnight - have problems with the sun (allergic) - so do most of my walking after it sets. Was told this was for OUR (guests) protection. All the doors not were locked then.

We've also booked our first stay at BLT (renting points) for two studios in February. I've heard so many great things about this resort and we are so excited to stay there. We rented points at AKL last time but wanted to be closer to MK this trip and the opportunity came up so we couldn't pass!

We like the layout of the studio, with the regular room kitchenette! I like the art work, and going up to TTOTW lounge. We enjoy eating at the Wave.

I do not like the pool. It is too small, shallow for my liking. So, I mostly prefer to go in winter. It works, because I like to use Our BCV points in summer!

Last time we stayed there we had 4 generations in a 2 bedroom suite. GG could stay in the room and watch the nightly fireworks show in the MK (we had a MK view). The kids could take their young ones to the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks and walk back in a few minutes (no wait for a bus or monorail after the fireworks) and we could have dessert in the DVC lounge and watch the fireworks from there. Access to the monorail, the shops and restaurants at the Contemporary, very nice rooms, nice pool and a great staff make it one of our favorite places to stay.

How lovely! What wonderful memories.

There are so many things to like--I too like the decor. It's sleek and elegant, in the lobby at least, and the rooms are pleasant enough. The art is great.

If I had to pick just ONE thing of what everyone has mentioned, it is the relaxing walk on a beautiful morning with my husband and son directly to the MK anticipating a great day. There is something about being able to do that walk, next to the monorail, that is wonderful and special.

We love the fresh modern decor, easy walking to Magic Kingdom, easy access to monorail, California Grill next door, TOWL.

Catch the water parade around 10pm. Try the buffet breakfast at The Wave. If you don't have a MK view and don't feel like going to TOW lounge, you can view fireworks from the bridge to the Contemporary or even from the North tower elevator areas on each floor. Walking to MK is so convenient -- makes it easy to catch the show before rope drop.

We are staying at Bay Lake our first time in February as well! I am SO excited to be able to walk back to the resort its always fun having to wait for the buses at night- the line being so long you don't get on the first one and then having a 10-20 minute ride.

I'd be most excited about the ease of getting to other resorts in the vicinity - monorail to Poly and GF and boat to FW and WL. I'd take advantage of that when planning ADRs.

We enjoyed being able to hop on the boat to Fort Wilderness and hit up the playground while enjoying take out drinks from the restaurant right there. And the stables, ponies, etc. Nice counterbalance to the modernism of BLT.
