DH and I just returned from a 4 night stay in the World. Here's how we filled our bellies:

Sunday: LUNCH We arrived around lunch time at the Wilderness Lodge, so we stopped by Roaring Forks for a quick lunch before heading out to the parks. DH had a turkey sandwhich and chips, I had a pepperoni pizza. DH enjoyed his sandwich. I thought the pizza was just ok. Its not something I would order twice. DINNER We had a 5:30 ADR for 50's Prime Time and got a table rather quickly. We had a great server who was lots of fun. She put a Little Mermaid Bib on DH because she said he looked a little messy. We had great fun watching some of the other tables as well. Just as we were seated, we watched a man at a neighboring table as he was pulled away, chair and all, to a corner to "think about what he'd done." LOL. What a fun place. We both had the fried chicken, which was delicious.

Monday:BREAKFAST Bagels and OJ at the Roaring Forks. We only needed enough fuel to get us moving and this did the trick. We were off to the Magic Kingdom. LUNCH We had a 12:00 ADR for the Plaza Restaurant (one of my favorites) and were seated within 5 minutes. DH had a burger and fries, which he thought was very good. I had the Turkey Sandwich and fries, which was also very good. The sandwich was very large and after eating, we agreed that we could have easily shared the sandwich. I left an entire half untouched. Of course, I had filled a good portion of my belly with a delicious chocolate malt, so that could have had something to do with it too! DINNER We had no ADR for dinner, but got an immediate table at Whispering Canyon Cafe at 5pm. We have eaten here multiple times in the past and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, this turned out to be our worst meal of the trip. Our server was wonderful and lots of fun, but the food was just plain awful. We were very disappointed. About 2 years earlier I had the best pork chops here, so I ordered them again. What came to our table could barely be recognized as pork chops. My past meal had 2 large thick pork chops, this meal had 2 THIN pieces of meat that were not even what I would call "pork chop shaped." They were dry and flavorless. I could barely cut them with my knife. I summoned the server and she quickly offered me anything else off the menu. I opted for the chicken, which was what DH was eating as well. They quickly replaced my plate. The chicken was just ok and we each ate 2 of the 3 pieces on our plates. The best part of the meal was definitely the corn bread. It was very tasty. All in all, we had a wonderful server, but the food has gone downhill and severely overpriced ($18 each for chicken & potatoes). We won't be returning to this restaurant in the future.

Tuesday: BREAKFAST Bagels & juice at Roaring Forks again. LUNCH Sci-Fi Drive-In - We had a Noon ADR. Seating took quite awhile even though we were in the first seating of the day. We waited approximately 25 minutes. I think there was some confusion between the woman outside taking names and the folks at the podium inside collecting the name cards. We watched several walkins and those who came after us getting seated (or parked, as they call it) before DH finally went up and asked what was up. This was our first time at this restaurant so we weren't sure what to expect, but I had read on these boards to stick with the basics on the menu, so we did. We were seated in the 3rd row of a car near the back, which was fine. I wished there were a little more counter space and better lighting, but it was a fun atmosphere. It looked like the front rows of the cars had a little more counter space, so I will request one of those next time. We ordered burgers, fries, and milkshakes. Service was quick and friendly. We both enjoyed the food and will visit again. DINNER We had a 6pm ADR at Le Cellier, my favorite restaurant in all of WDW. We were seated within 10 minutes, which surprised me as they were pretty busy. They were not taking any walk-ins. We were seated in a very small table right in front of the bathroom, which was not so great. It was like sitting in the middle of a walkway with all the traffic whizzing by our table. Nearly every person who walked past us to the bathroom managed to knock my purse off the back of my chair. After a few times, I moved the purse to the floor near my feet, but they continued to knock into me. This put a little damper on my mood. Our server was Claude from Winnipeg and he was very charming. We started with the cheddar cheese soup, which was to die for, as usual. We both ordered the filet mignon. This has changed a little since our last visit. It is now served with a sweet maple BBQ sauce on top. Its a very small amount, but I thought it was an awful addition to the dish. I ended up trying to slice off the top of the steak so I wouldn't have to taste it, which didn't work out too well. DH was smart and ordered his dry, which is standard with him. He smugly smiled and enjoyed his steak while I picked around on mine. I did eat most of it, but next time I will order it dry.

Wednesday: BREAKFAST Yet another morning of bagels and juice. LUNCH We spent this day at Typhoon Lagoon and had lunch at the Leaning Palms. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The fries were piping hot, the burger was ice cold. So cold that the cheese was not even melted. It was just a cold piece of cheese tossed on a lukewarm pattie. DH had a chicken wrap and fruit cup. He enjoyed both. I think I would go with the wrap in the future as well. DINNER We had an ADR for Whispering Canyon originally, but after our meal earlier in the week, we decided to cancel and go with Artist Point. I had a wonderful meal here with my sister about a year earlier. The ADR system here was odd. We called Disney Dining from our room around 2pm and asked for an ADR for dinner for Artist Point. The CM told me the earliest available table was at 6:45. I declined and hung up. DH and I hemmed and hawed about it for a minute or so and decided to book it anyway. DH called back and asked for a dinner ADR for Artist Point. Amazingly, he was offered 5:30. We thought someone must have just canceled and felt very lucky. The odd part was that during our entire meal there, the restaurant was only half full. Do they have that many no-shows? Anyway...... we were seated at a table by the window and had a very nice server, I think his name was Paul. DH started with the Living Lettuce Salad (or something like that) which came with a light lemon vinigrette. I had the Smoked Portebello Soup, which was good but a little bland. We switched starters about mid-way through so we could each try something different. We both ordered the salmon with celery root mash. Both were very very good. This was our best meal of the week. We ended with a piece of chocolate cake. It was much too rich and we ended up taking it back to the room to finish later.

Thursday: The day of departure. BREAKFAST We had our final morning of bagels and juice. LUNCH We spent the morning and early afternoon at Downtown Disney. We really wanted to grab lunch at Wolfgang Puck but our feet were much too sore (and blistered) to walk over there from the Marketplace, so we opted for the Wolfgang Express. We shared a delicious bowl of tortilla soup, which was very good. It tasted just the same of that served in the West Side restuarant. Following the soup we each had flat bread pizzas. I ordered the Pepperoni and Mushroom, DH ordered the Margerita (sp?). Both were very tasty. I've read bad reviews of the Express in the past, so we were a little leary, but in the end, I thought it was just fine.

So that's it. Now we're home and ready to hit the treadmill! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Tina,

I have a question. What time did you normally go to Roaring Forks to eat breakfast, and how long was the line? We are going to WL next May and will probably use a lot of our CS vouchers from the dining plan on quick breakfasts from Roaring Forks. I've heard some posters complain about the long lines to get food there.

Thanks in advance.

I'm excited to go to Le Cellier on my first trip in Jan so it was good to read your review, I'll know to ask for my steaks dry, haha. 50's Prime Time sounds like way too much for me, it would make me really annoyed if a waiter or waitress did either of those things to me while I was trying to eat dinner and enjoy myself. Good thing I chose Sci-Fi over that for an ADR:)

Pedro, it was a fairly quiet week for us, so we never really had long lines for much of anything - including Roaring Forks. We are not the types to be up at the crack of dawn and rushing off to the parks either. A couple of mornings, DH went over and got the bagels and juice and brought them back to the room for us to toast and eat (we were in a 1 bedroom in the Villas) so I have no idea if it was crowded. He would have mentioned it if it were a bother. Of all our other visits to the Roaring Forks, we never waited in line or had trouble finding a table.

Melissa, if you aren't the type to want fun interaction with your meal, you are probably right to avoid 50's Prime Time. Of course, if you really want to eat there you only need to tell the Hostess that you'd like a low-key meal and they'll make sure you're server understands. They only ham it up if you are willing to play along. Else, its just a normal service - With the exception of the occasional diner singing I'm a Little Teapot off in the distance. :goodvibes

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

Thanks for the reviews. It is nice to hear what others like and dislike to help plan our own vacation. :sunny:

Thanks so much for the reviews. Glad you had a good trip. I agree about the food at WCC. We had never been until this past trip. I had read such raves, but was so unimpressed. Plus, about Artist Point. We tried to get an ADR without luck while at WL this past trip. Our room was next to the window that overlooks the restaurant. Always half-empty! Thanks again!

Thanks for the yummy reviews. I can't wait to try le Cellier in January. I have been hearing so much good reviews about the famous cheddar soup, I have to try it!
