Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

Hi, I just found this thread :goodvibes
I would someday like to be a concept artist or a ride designer. I saw a show about imagineering on the Travel Channel, and it looks like a very interesting job to have. :teeth:

Hiya!

Welcome to the Thread :wizard:

Yeah, it's my dream to be an Imagineer! I haven't quite narrowed down what I want to do in imagineering, there's so many disciplines:

According to a recruiting brochure printed in the early 1990s, WDI employs people in the following fields, which are "just a few" of the many at WDI: Accountants, Advanced Technology Researchers, Architects, Architectural Designers, Audio/Video Specialists and Engineers, CAD Specialists, Carpenters, Civil Engineers, Colorists, Computer Software Designers and Programmers, Conceptual Designers, Construction Managers, Contract Administrators, Cost Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Electronic and Electromechanical Assemblers, Environmental Designers and Space Planners, Exhibit Designers, Facility Designers and Space Planners, Financial Analysts, General Services Support, Graphic Designers, Human Resource Specialists, Illustrators, Industrial Designers, Industrial Engineers, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, Librarians and Information Specialists, Lighting Designers, Local Area Network Administrators, Machinists, Materials Applications Designers, Material Planners, Mechanical Engineers, Model Builders, Optics and Projection Systems Engineers, Plastics Fabricators, Producers, Production Artists, Production Coordinators, Project Estimators, Project Managers, Project Planners, Project Schedulers, Prototype Developers, Quality Assurance Engineers, Scenic Artists, Screen Printers, Sculptors, Secretaries, Show Technology Designers, Show Set Designers, Special Effects Designers, Story and Copy Writers, Storyboard and Sketch Artists, Strategic Planners, Systems Engineers, Telecommunications Specialists, Tool and Die Makers

:D YES I cant wait...we purchased the airplane tickets today! now we have to book the room, buy the expo tickets, buy DL tickets

I'm so jealous.. even if I could just go for Saturday (the Imagineering part) I'd be happy, but I can't swing it by my parents.

Thanks :goodvibes
I would love to be an imagineer as well :upsidedow
 That's a lot of fields,. When I go to WDW this weekend, I'm going to see if they have any of those imagineering books you mentioned, they sound very interesting. :goodvibes

maybe you could sneek out and walk all the way to cali xD

Yeah they're very interesting.

You'll probably be able to find "Imagineering: A Behind....Magic Real", "The Imagineering Way", and "Designing Disney"... I highly suggest those and the concept art books.

I'd love to go to the D23 expo, but I know that my parents would never take me. We live on the East Coast, and my mom isn't a huge fan of flying, and my dad wouldn't understand, and would find it a waste of time & money :sad2:
Oh well, can't really complain though, since we've been to WDW so many times. :goodvibes

I live on the east coast too, but it's more an issue of it being during school v. flying, money, etc. Man I want to go though.

What do you think about the fact DL is considering to make a dark ride on the Disney Fairies straight-to-DVD movies, placed in the old area of the Motor Boat cruise?

I'm not a fan of the idea. They aren't exactly classic tales.

dont talk about those (here comes my first bad word on the dis P.S. sorry) ****ed up fairies...I DESPISE them..........don't get me started
