Ugh, it just annoys me when they make huge mistakes out of something simple.
Yeah, exactly.
And don't even get me started on TL in DL.
They tried to make a Discoveryland in 1996, but failed miserably. So things that need to come back or added:
The Peoplemover (was replaced by the Rocket Rods which closed about 3 months after they opened)
The Astro Orbitor needs to be on top of the Peoplemover station again.
Star Tours 2.0 [being announced at D23 Expo]
Things that need to go:
Cosmic Waves
The Agrifuture idea (all plants are edible, veggies, fruit, etc)
The rocks at the entrance
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
but it called tomorrowlandI disagree, Megan. You don't have to be so literal, you know? Buzz and Monsters Inc. are a good enough fit for Tomorrowland. I like them there. Space isn't technically 'future-related' either, but there's a lot of that theme there.
And I like POTC. Sure, I liked it a tiny bit more before they added all the movie stuff, but I still love it. I think the additions were mostly subtle and tasteful.
But technically, space isn't set in the future. Stitch isn't from the future.I know I don't have to be so literal. I can live with Buzz, I can slightly attribute him to the future if I try, but Walt's original vision for Tomorrowland was a positive bright hopeful outlook on the future.
I can't figure out Monsters, though. But you're right, it doesn't matter if theme fits anymore, if it's "good enough" the public accepts it.
Space I can count as future-related as a Space Port, as the average public doesn't get the chance to go into space everyday.
But technically, space isn't set in the future. Stitch isn't from the future.
Really, what you're doing is disrespecting the guests. They like Monster's Inc Laugh Floor. Just because it doesn't fit perfectly with the theme, doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. Sometimes imagineers have to realize what's working for the park, instead of just being set on their certain vision.
Walt's original version for EPCOT for an actual city, but that's not possible. That doesn't mean we have to hate the park though, I think they did a good job of it. Just because it was Walt's original version, doesn't mean it's the best idea. I mean, could you see yourself snuggling up to a Mortimer Mouse plushie? Of course not.
since it wasnt really EPCOT they changed the name to EpcotTo touch on your EPCOT post, they didn't try to base the park after his visions. They made it, as they've described, "The Ultimate World's Fair". But, knowing that Walt wanted an EPCOT, and had talked about it on TV, they named it that.
I love Space Mountain, I reallydo.
I love the TTA/WedWay PM.
I absolutely adore the Carousel of Progress.
I even love Astro Orbiter, it makes the perfect Wienie for the land. (I always mess up the spelling of wienie sorry)
I just know Imagineering can easily do better to both interest guests and keep theme in check. DisneySeas is proof of that.
