If you can get there safely, I wouldn't cancel.

I was trying to figure out how to drive there with I-80 closed when the worst was here if we couldn't get to the airport. It's amazing how much difference here that just two days have made. The worst here hit Thursday, Friday and then Saturday was pretty stressful with the water situation.

I feel the same way...guilty, but let's think of it this way...that will impact the economy even more;) seriously actually.

When we were going to perhaps cancel our track meet in Des Moines that meant not going to two more in July...that's a lot of cash that 3 hotels wouldn't get not to mention the food we'd eat while there.

So...consider that you are helping the US in another fashion. It's more difficult because it's so close this time. Diasters happen all the time and life rolls on. I always found that the worst part of the loss of a family member. Life just rolls along. I lost my father near the ending of a grading period and parents were really annoyed that my grades might not be done on time:worried:

Besides, for us, it would have been a financial loss on some things.

Hang in there!! Are you flying?

Hi guys! I've been in bed  for a couple of days. I think it's all sinus/allergy. My head feels full of fluid. I'm taking meds and getting a little bit better ... but still not quite 100%

Tomar --- I still haven't started packing!!! And you're DONE?!? Seriously??? :faint:

.
Mouseaddicts- Feel better !!
And....Im sure once you do....you`ll have everything under control in the packing area...besides ...you guys are driving ...and if worse comes to worse...you can just put an extra little peice of luggage (with things you remembered at the last minute) in the car !!!:drive:

I've had to cancel 2 other planned trips this year and I need the stress relief so much :headache: Still I don't know what to do

Minnie- If you can get there safely... as EE22 said.......GO FOR IT !! :goodvibes
Each of us has had a rough year...in one way or another .....(without dealing with Mother Nature`s wrath ) as you are now....but like you said ...stress relief is .....just as nessessary sometimes as ...taking a pill ....

If you can get there safely, I wouldn't cancel.

EE22- You have such a way of putting things in prospective !!

Mouseaddicts...I missed that you were ill. Get better soon. Thanks for the heads up Tomar.

THE BOX: :rotfl2: 18 pounds and it was $17 something to send it. Surcharge for being far from the UPS station:rotfl: That was DH's only contribution to the trip...he went to UPS today...except for the cold hard cash we need;)

I haven't heard the U of I news from the wire so I'm wondering if it's just a BAD rumor. I hope it is. I cannot imagine not having summer classes.

I went to the PO today and the man in front of me said he went to get out $250 and the bank had no money left:scared1: good thing the interstates opened.

I walked outside and I saw Noah go by.....;)

Minnie, hang on.:wizard: Hopefully things will be looking up soon. I agree> go. As long as your house is safe, and your not needed for that (so your not worried while away). We where in WDW during 911 (for another 2 weeks, following the disaster), and I know, you are feeling "how can we do this, have a good time, etc..." when everything around your area is so bad, and so much is going on..... . It might not be your best, or fav. trip but it will be doable. Remember, your family may need this as much as you.

EE22, SINGLE DIGITS!!! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo 9 Mickey's. I have heard the same about Iowa U. too. (on news here). Now they are talking about the Mississippi and leeves up and down it...... . This is really going all the way down the country. Need some magic:wizard: :wizard:

Mouseaddict's, sorry your not 100% yet, rest and fluids. Are you doing a sinus flush? Disgusting but highly effective. :wizard:

Candi, when can you come down here and help me pack?

Tomar your right behind EE22. princess: :hourglass She is getting ready for grandma and grandpa!

We are getting max on friday and all day sat. going home on sunday. We need to get him shopping and planning done. Make sure he is ready. Last time his shoes where tight. I went over to sketchers outlet and got 2 pair the next day. :confused3 So planning ahead this time.

Vader, is back to 3 paws, and another $100 vet bill> he broke a toe on back paw, doing what else> chasing birds. Ugh! Such a klutz.

mky:cutie:

EE22 --- Single digits - wow! :wizard: That's awesome!!! You'll be there before you know it. We figured out today that we leave in 2 wks & 1 day!

MKY --- I've never done a sinus flush, but I'd sure love to right now! Can you PM me some kind of info on it? :confused3 I told some guys I work with today on the phone that I'd like to drill into a sinus cavity & let it drain ..... :worried: I hope Vader gets better soon too!!!

Tomar --- I made DH stop on the way home & pick up some 1 gallon ziploc bags when he got my meds. Does that count toward packing?? I did fold some laundry ...... and I was teaching DS8 how to fold. It was so sweet.

Minnie --- I'm with the others --- GO! You probably need to get away from the hectic stress of the situation there. The trip is already planned, so take advantage of the break. And best of luck to you through the recovery process!

TP2 --- Got that DC book yet? I promise it's a great resource. Once you start reading it, it makes you realize just how much really is there for a family to enjoy.

Where is Candi?

Okay - going to go get more rest now........ night night ladies!

MKY-:cutie: I wear Skecher sneakers in the world also...very comfy :cloud9:
I hope Max is getting ready for a GREAT Birthday :bday:
How is "Bug" ??

Mouseaddicts: Sinus infections are the worst. I hope you are feeling better. I saw the sinus flush on Oprah, with Dr. Oz. Have fun.
I have done nothing for Washington DC. I will admit that I started planning for our Disney trip in 2009.:rotfl: I have no interest in DC, but I will go for the ride.

EE22: You are going to have to show me the car rental ropes for next year. We are definately going to rent one, unless we stay at Poly. Then I will live with the monorail. We watched home movies from past trips and DH agreed that the kids did not enjoy Pop as much as POR and CSR. They want the water slides.

8 more days:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

MKY: Have fun with Max for the weekend. It will be nice and add excitement to the trip. I always buy my girls brand new stuff for Disney. Sounds crazy but I don't want them wearing the same stuff in the videos. I love just putting new things on, everyone looks nice.

Did not know a dog could break a toe.

Tomar: Can I fit in your checked luggage? I will pay the $25 fee. I am missing it so much. Watched our video of Spectro to get that song in my head and fill the gap.

:) mky...how is Vader's toe? Better I hope:)

TP2: I learned all I know about car rentals from Tomar so between the two of us, we'll get you through:thumbsup2

Get better mouseaddicts.

Tomar:hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

WOW, big planning day, glad I checked the boards when I came home from work. The ap rates for august are out & terrible. I have never seen them > less than the aaa discount.:confused3 So I am keeping my aaa discount at CR & bounceback rate @ poly. The aaa rate beat the ap by 100.00 on 10 nites cr mkv / tower. :scared1: Yikees. Note to self> my a AAA rate for march 09' when available. I then paid it off with my disney visa to use points on our trip.

EE22, :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo: today its 8 dumbo's!!!

Mouseaddict's will send pm. about the flush. Up here in the north> cold and sinus problems abound, we have all done it once. problem is it works wonderful.

mouseaddict's i sent the pm.

Thank you all for your kind words

I have bad news and good news:

Bad news first (to get it out of the way) - We received word that DF's plant could be closed for up to a month and if that happens that it likely won't be reopened  He is still in a bit of denial but I'm trying to encourage him to get in front of the pack and start looking for other employment right way :moped:

I talked to mom and we decided to go ahead with the trip :goodvibes We would loose $ at this point if we didn't go and boy do I need this trip :thumbsup2 So thanks again everyone

Minnie...push the issue. On the news here the people who have OCD like me and called FEMA before things got really bad don't have much of a wait...the ones now...are in for a longggg wait. Those that didn't believe the weather and moved loads and loads of stuff saved things...those that didn't think it would get that high...lost everything.

Things are bad here and jobs will be critical I'm sure.
Quaker is closed "till further notice". I don't even know how many they employ :worried:

Here in CR...housing is going to be a major concern :worried: there are just not rentals out there so I'm not sure what they will do. Many houses are going to get the bulldozer and I'm sure FEMA won't let them rebuild there. Of course many of the houses lost were rentals as well.

I worry about the retired people...many live in those flooded areas.

Flood insurance...many policies cover the sturcture not what's in it. :(

It's really sad here:worried: I went out today for the first time and talking to people made me even more upset than watching the news.

The ripple effects from this will last a long time.

I am glad that you are going on the trip. Leave the guilt behind. Many people I talked to today have those same feelings. It's so different this time because it is so close...too close.

Thanks for all the well wishes!!! I feel soooo much better today..... but I'm still going to look into the sinus flush. Gross is worth it if it works! :thumbsup2 The pain is horrible!!! :headache:

EE22 - 8 days for you! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Tomar - 13 days - right!!! :dance3: :dance3:

Our ticker isn't completely accurate (I must have put the wrong date) b/c we actually have 15 days - 14 when I wake up!!!

Tomar & EE22 --- Do our days overlap? I was thinking we should try to meet ......... :confused3 I'd love to see ya again EE22 ...... and finally MEET you Tomar!!! I'll send a PM ........ :cutie:

Minnie - I'm really glad to hear you're going. You'll most likely need the getaway! Best wishes with the DF employment! :wizard:

TP2 - Just go grab the guide book. You might surprise yourself! Do it for the kids ..... it's a family trip. You can make wonderful memories together! They won't be this age next year. ;) Think positive thoughts .....

I am sending pixie dust to all who might need it.

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Minnie - go! :moped: like everyone said - life goes on, as it should. Can you imagine if your life had to come to a complete hault everytime there was tragic events somewhere? We would never get anything done since we live in a global era now.

It is the pull of life going on that helps us to recover and move out of the shocked and stunded stage. It will change people but maybe in the end, maybe they discover something life changing. Maybe the very materialistic will learn it isn't about the stuff you own, since it gets lost, but about the people and memories. Remember that little town that was completly distroyed by tornados a few years back. The built an eco friendly town instead of just rebuilding. It allowed them to start "fresh". :worship: :worship: Move power to them.

Mouseaddicts - I am located in Windsor, Ontario about 8 hours drive from Chicago. We are across the river from Detroit MI. As for the sinus flush. I hear it works wonders. I am a wimp and feel like I am drowning and can't do it. I wish I could. I have wanted to install a tap in my head in the past to help the pressure.

And MKY - the secret is in the list! I do without a lot of "extra" things I would use at home. One pair of shoes instead of a few etc. I take my running shoes and no others when we go to Disney. But I would be game for a trip to your area..:moped:

I am making a DVD movie of the pictures from our trip and I am in need of music for the background.

Do you happen to have any music that would be good for background music for
Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Florence, Rome, Italy, Greece, Croatia or Venice?

I bought a few off of i-Tunes but I need about two hours worth and I don't
want to buy that much. If you have CDs you can "rip" them to your computer and then send me the WMA files. Or MP3 or M4P files can be used as well.

PM me if you don't have my email. I appreciate anything I can get.

Thanks.
