June 4, 2012--North to Alaska.

Ok - I have made the spreadsheet for our group...

Now, if I could only figure out how to post it! :headache:

this was posted in a forum thread i was reading... thought i would share.....

A few tips for Alaska cruisers:
- On Tracy Arm day, the decks get packed mid-morning, several hours before you head into Tracy Arm. People reserve deck chairs, etc. But, guess what? The ship heads out of Tracy Arm the same way it went in, so the view is identical. Once the ship turns around, the decks empty. On the return, you can practically have the whole deck to yourself and see the same thing.
- Also for Tracy Arm, even if its a warm day, bring a jacket with you. The temperature drop is considerable as the ship goes into the arm (seems like a 20 degree drop or more).
- Don't overpack. T-shirts are really inexpensive at the Alaska ports...usually less than $10 (even for long-sleeve) and are of a decent quality. Even if you forget a fleece jacket, you can pick up a decent one in any of the ports for around $20. Plenty of selection of raincoats too.
- Many of the Alaskan souvenir stands sell something called an ulu, which is a semi-circular knife (look it up on wikipedia if you like). Problem is: you can't bring it back on the ship. Solution: let Disney confiscate it, they'll give you a claim ticket and you can pick it back up after you disembark.

Joining the group finally. We booked on our eastern Easter cruise last year. This will be our third dcl cruise and it's myself,dh and dd who is 8. We have done fe on every cruise but worry about doing it this trip as luggage is limited. I am sure we can manage something if the group is small. Dd loves this.

How does this work, being full for the kids club. I am still able to price out trips with kids. I am confused.
Just saw this video posted on the Disney blog today and it got me excited - http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/01/disney-cruise-line-top-five-exploring-skagway-alaska/. Anyone else start looking at excursions yet?

Also, just thought I'd give this FYI - I called Disney the other day and the cast member I spoke to mentioned that the kids programming had just filled up for our cruise. I was sort of keeping my fingers crossed for a "kids sail free" promotion to come up, but I guess with a full kids program, they won't be doing it this time ;)

Welcome QueenBee99! Looking forward to meeting you and your family in June :cool1:

I've noticed that you can still price out this cruise with kids as well, but I don't know if you would actually be able to finalize the purchase with kids on your reservation if kid's programming is truly full. That being said, it's quite possible that since that point in time, they've had cancellations so some spots have opened up.

We've been on a cruise that had a full kid's programming and then another one that was not full and I didn't notice a ton of difference in the clubs, but the pool did seem busier when there were more kids. Not sure we'll have to fight for space around the pool too much on this cruise though! :D

Our last 2 cruises have been sold out but the Easter one was packed with kids. We had to try for Flubber a couple of times before we got it. I wonder if it will be too cold to swim or slide. DD likes the slide.

I learned the hard way at Disneyland a few weeks ago when I had to buy my DD a swimsuit - it's NEVER too cold to swim :) They have the pools heated to a nice temperature from what I understand, so I'm sure the cool air temperatures won't slow all the kids down. You will NOT see me in the pool though :goodvibes

Hi Kim.

:welcome:

Let me know if you want to join the FE.

Thanks, and again, welcome!

I'd like to join the FE list. We have 4 cabins:
Lyons Cabin (Mandy 50's/Steve 50's)
Fabisch /Migura Cabin (Michelle 25/Kyle 25)
Wittner Cabin (Susan 50's/Alan 50's)
Fabisch Cabin (Ilene 50's/Murt 50's)

Thanks!

I can't believe we are getting so close. Have to start deciding on what I am putting together for the FE gifts.

Dumb me! It was not last night I was supposed to make ressies it's TONIGHT! :lmao: I let the excitement get the best of me!

Kim, don't freak out :goodvibes
We just did the Halloween Cruise this past October. There were upwards of 48 families - NOW THAT WAS DIFFICULT.
For some reason I'm not sure of seems like not many have connected with us here this time. I'm sure the cruise is likely close to sold out :confused3 so what gives? Well it sure will be easier to make the FE's. I'm planning to do the same thing I did for the Halloween Dream Cruise since I have some leftovers that would be easy to convert for this cruise. Still it does take some time but certainly don't stress about it, this is supposed to be fun
