June 4, 2012--North to Alaska.

Anyone know what time we come back into Seattle? I'm trying to book flights. Also what excursions are you considering?

I have it that we get back into Seattle at 9 AM on the 11th. (monday)

We haven't looked at excursions yet, guess we need to do that soon since our booking date is 20 Feb. Got a lot going on the next couple of months, holidays, our 33rd anniversary, and taking our youngest DS and his family to WDW in January. Then our 4th grandchild:lovestruc is due on 2 May.....2012 is already stacking up as a busy year! :goodvibes

I was beginning to feel quite alone.

Perhaps we should start a question of the week to get the conversation going...I'll start....

What is your favorite Disney park and why?

My favorite park is Magic Kingdom because it makes me smile, cry, feel happy, and now I'm seeing it through the eyes of our DGKids....ages 5-16 months. Following a close second would be Disney Hollywood Studios because it has my favorite rides....Tower of Terror, Rockn' Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Toy Story Mania....

Wow, your schedule looks similar to ours:
First the holidays - Mom will be up from FL for Turkey day. Hanukkah runs
through Christmas which always makes that a busy time for blended families ;-)
January I'll be taking my 25yo DD to her first DL visit..I'm so excited.
With all the times we've been to WDW, DH and I just discovered DL in Jan 2010. This will be my third time back. It's such an enjoyable park!
Feb is quiet for us but then in March I'll be visiting my mom in Ft.
Lauderdale
April DH and I will be using our DVC for Hilton Head. Have never been
before so that's exciting.
Have my DD's best friend due around Mother's day with her first baby. She's like a daughter to us so it will be fun to have a grandchild once removed,LOL. And my own DIL is due end of May/beginning of June with our second grandbaby! Poor timing with the cruise but since there are 4 couples planning to go I just couldn't change dates!
Our Anniversary is June 15th but we'll be celebrating with another couple
we are going with whose Anniversary is June 11th :-)

Favorite park changes but is currently EPCOT I think!

That's a tough question for me. I like all of them for different reasons. However, I am thinking I'll have to choose Magic Kingdom because I was able to experience it with my mom, dad, brother & sister when I was a teenager. I've since enjoyed it with my husband and daughters. It is always the park that makes me believe in happily ever after.

Hello all! Just stopping by to check in. It's been a while since I have posted anything & I see there are a couple of new folks who have joined. WELCOME to all of you. :goodvibes

It seems like the thread us going slowly-- I imagine that things will pick up after the holidays...

SIL & MIL want to come over on Sunday to discuss excursions. It's their first cruise & they are sooooo excited! :yay: I think it's cute how they want to schedule a "meeting" to look through the options together! ;)

Well, bye for now...

Hi, Deb!:goodvibes

yes, we are going slow over here! Sulley and I are beginning to think about excursions as well! we are very excited, to say the least! I'm afraid that what we want to do may be cost prohibitive, but we shall see!

Besides Disney, what other hobbies do you and your family enjoy?

I love quilting, cross-stitching, crocheting, scrapbooking, photography ( the last 2 go together, don't they;) ) and you are hard pressed to find me without a book nearby if not in front of my face! :goodvibes

Is there anything else besides Disney? :lmao: Chuck & I love to camp, kayak, and explore. I am a recovering workaholic so anything to get me out of the office and away from my work. :rotfl: I am training for the Disney marathon in January. Chuck is a tinker. He doesn't usually sit for long.

We have a trip to Disney in 10 days for 10 days. My mom, favorite Aunt, brother & nephew will be joining us for 5 days of it. We have been looking forward to it for 9 months. Then we decided to take the cruise in June for our 30th anniversary which is June 5th. Chuck told me a couple of days ago that he is more excited about the cruise now. We have both been looking at excursions.

Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! We will celebrate 33 years on the 8th of next month. We are taking our youngest grandson to WDW in January. Sulley is excited as well, at first he didn't want to go to Alaska...but has since changed his tune! :lmao: He keeps talking about excursions too, so we are going to have to sit down and check them out! Can't wait!

I am the one that wanted this cruise to Alaska. However, Chuck is really warming up to it. Congrats on your 33 years. I will be in Disney in January for the marathon. When are you going to be there? I'll be there with friends from January 5-9.

How was everyone's holiday? Good I hope.
Just thought i'd stop by and say Howdy to everyone. Since this is my second cruise i'm still rather new to everything.
Anybody want to do the FishExtender thing?
I also always wondered about something, anybody else not thrilled about Animator's Palate? I only experencied it ounce on our last cruise, it was the repo from La to Vancouver.. long story short, we had to make a Uturn and go back to San Fran..so during dinner the engines were going rather strong to make up the time. I had been looking forward to Animator's Palate and boy was that a let down. First we got seated right next to a server's station..anoying! I keeped waiting for something cool to happen, but nothing seemed to happen. a few pictures would change color, but it made no since. Plus i guess there was music but most of the time we couldn't hear it.
Just wondering if this is normal or what?
Plus i'm really hoping to get a better rotaion on this cruise too.

Anyway, Can't wait for this cruise should be a blast!

:sad1: We are going to cancel this cruise. We are being threatened with a month-long furlough in 2013....both DH and I are federal employees and a month each without pay...I can't justify this cruise and the cross-country plane fare that would be needed. :worried:

I hope you all have a wonderful time!!! Hopefully, the individuals responsible for this situation will grow up, pull on their big boy/girl panties and do their job so we can continue to do ours. :furious:
Hopefully, we will be able to book another Alaskan cruise somewhere down the line. :confused3

I am sorry that you are having to cancel and I am sorry that we will not be able to meet. I was quite looking forward to that. However, I do understand. I hope that your situation improves.

I'm so sorry to hear you have to cancel your trip! I hope you're able to rebook something soon!

Just saw this video posted on the Disney blog today and it got me excited - http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/01/disney-cruise-line-top-five-exploring-skagway-alaska/. Anyone else start looking at excursions yet?

Also, just thought I'd give this FYI - I called Disney the other day and the cast member I spoke to mentioned that the kids programming had just filled up for our cruise. I was sort of keeping my fingers crossed for a "kids sail free" promotion to come up, but I guess with a full kids program, they won't be doing it this time ;)

Hi everyone :yay:
We are starting to get excited and looking into excursions now. I think we've
pretty much decided at this point on what to do in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Haven't looked at Vancouver yet.
I'm booking a combo of what Disney offers and private companies. We are a group of 8. Me and my DH, two couples that are long time family friends, and my DD and her BF.
In Ketchikan DD is doing the Misty Fjords Flightseeing booked privately with a company recommended on here. The rest of us are planning on doing the Misty Fjords by Sea Exploration from Disney, it's a little less expensive than the air route. Then we'll all likely join together for the Lumberjack show or maybe a Duck Tour.
In Juneau we are hoping to do the Adult Only Whale Watch/salmon bake/Mendenhall excursion. The food looked a little better on the Adult
only option.
In Skagway we are doing a combo of the horseback excursion and the White Rail Pass/Suspension Bridge.
Well that's the plan for now anyway. Board has been pretty quiet...where is everyone else that is cruising with us? :confused3

My family has been through a rough couple of months with a serious family illness - I really don't want to go into the details at this time, but.....

We are really ready to move forward and start planning this vacation!!!

This thread has been REALLY quiet lately. Is anyone out there still planning on going? :confused3. If so please post!!! Let's get this thing rolling!!:dance3:

We SURE are  In fact we can't wait! We had some fun last week planning all our excursions. I will be "gold" this cruise so I get to book
in February...geez maybe this time I'll be able to get a good Palo booking.
I'd like brunch and dinner but not sure they will let us book two times. When we went out in November on the Dream we could only book once online. I guess if I had tried once on ship maybe there would have been another opening.

Boy FE's sure would be easy if it just me and debc :confused3 Where is everyone?
