June 17, 2016 - Magic goes to Norway and Iceland from Dover

Is it too late to join the Fish Extender group? This is our first Disney cruise and we didn't find out about the FE until today. It's a great idea! Can we join?

Yes, the group is closed, but I have extra so I could do an exchange with your family. Anyone else would have to decide if that would work for them as it is quite close to our trip. I would need your cabin # and names and ages of people in your cabin as well as any allergies.

So far, we have two cabins who are able to do an FE with your family. I have posted here for anyone else who might be able to add two families. I have also added to our FE list post where I will add your cabin info when you post it. I am not able to private message you because you are new to the boards.

Hope this helps! :) This really is a lot of fun, especially for the kids!

Wow! Your first Disney Cruise - let the addiction begin!

Hello! We booked this cruise a few months ago, but about a month and a half later things came up that caused us to reconsider whether or not we would be able to take such a long vacation. Well, I'm glad to say we have decided to go forward with our trip and we will be joining you all! This thread has been very helpful in our planning, so thank you to everyone who's contributed.

We are a family of four, Lily, Gary, Drew (turns 16 the day we set sail!) and Luke (13) coming from California.

Unfortunately, as our planning was put on hold for so long, there are still a couple of things I need to reserve. Is anyone else taking a private vehicle to Dover from London (besides Coastal Cars, they're all booked up)? We have so much luggage I'm worried about taking the train.

We've never been on a "cold" weather cruise and one so long. Any advice on clothes and shoes? Thanks so much!

We are taking the train. Since you can get a train direct to Dover or Folkestone, depending on your London station, it is really quite easy. Then, when you get off, you grab a cab to your hotel or the ship. We even pulled this off last summer with a very quick change of trains! :)

Hiya! Nothing like waiting until the last minute! We've been booked on the cruise for awhile but I haven't stopped by yet to say HI! I looked through the thread but didn't see anything about a meet up? Are we getting together at all on Embarkation Day?

Our room is 6558 (although I know the FE is closed.:smooth: ) and we are myself (Sarah), DH (Jason), DS (Ian, 12) and DS (Tyler, 10). This is our 5th Disney cruise and our 2nd European one. It is the first time we've sailed with tweens, however, and I'm a bit nervous. We know the Edge has been updated and moved, but our boys have always been together in the Lab since out first cruise. We're a bit nervous about the 10 yr old being on his own, if the older DS wants to go to the Edge, but obviously, we him to feel free to be with older kids. I'd appreciate any experience or advice anyone here might have to give. We've decided to wait until the Open House to book them in. Are the rules still very rigid on what area they are allowed to visit? Thanks in advance. :lovestruc

There is nothing set as a meet up. Our last few cruises we got so caught up in all the stuff to do before muster that we never made it. I felt bad setting something up if I could not guarantee I would make it. We could make it even more casual than usual, and whoever shows up in Preludes around three can say hello. I know the FE is closed, but I could do an exchange with you. Just need confirmation that would work for you and any allergies. I know sometimes people have done their own FE for their kids when a list had been closed, and just brought stuff to sneak in when the kids were not around.

As far as kids clubs, even if they will not bend the rules, ther seems to be so much "open house" time now for all of the clubs. The Edge seems to be open until almost lunch time from the navigators I have seen. And the other two clubs have varied hours throughout the day.

Can everyone doing the FE check post # 253 on page 13. I have updated it and we are only missing " Rfamily". Please make sure that everything is correct. Anyone who thinks they may upgrade at the port may want to have me add a last name in order to be able to drop off their FE with guest services. I do not want anyone to miss out. Also, we have had a couple more people who would love to take part in our FE. If you are open to exchanging with them, please post here.

We just got our cabin number! 2141. Thank you and sorry about the delay.

We have some extras, so would be happy to exchange with those who missed out in joining before the closed date :)

Thanks, I am sure this will be appreciated! I will add an additional section to our list for info on the two additional cabins for anyone who wants to exchange. It looks like we would have two more families. Waiting for confirmation from them.

Wonderful! Thank you for accommodating us.
Cabin # 6611 - Zoe (5), Brooklynn (almost 3) No allergies
Cabin # 6610 - Cole (almost 7), Hannah (almost 1) No allergies

Are we supposed to do gifts for the adults?

As far as FE gifts, it is up to you how you gift. Some people gift to each person in the cabin, some people give a gift for the entire cabin, or some people gift something specifically to the kids and then a gift for the cabin. It is entirely what you make it and decide to do.

since you have two cabins, you need to decide if you want to do the FE as a family which would require you to bring one gift for the rooms exchanging or if you want to exchange by cabin, you would need to give two gifts to exchanging cabins. Does that make sense? I would suggest that you do it as a family and then only exhange one gift as this is your first time and we are so close to cruising. Let us know.

At this time two of our group have confirmed that they would be able to exchange. It is cabin 2110 and 2604. Keep checking this thread to see who else may be able to exchange with you as well. I will post your info on our FE list which is on page13, post#253. Can I also get you and your husbands names to add as well?

Are you able to add the two new families who would like to join our FE? Just checking so I can give accurate info. Thanks!

I am able to include the 2 new families in my exchange. We are just down the hall from you and have a 5 year old girl so will probably cross paths

Unfortunately, I do not have any extra FE gifts for the two additional cabins. :guilty: Parts of my gift had to be ordered and there isn't enough time left to do this. I feel so bad.

Welcome!!

I, also, have not scheduled a meet-up - mostly due to the fact that I have committed to a meet-up with another group on that day already, and it looks unlikely that I will even be able to do that!

We had over an hour wait for a cab that we prereserved at our hotel in Copenhagen last year. With this in mind, my husband called a cab company in Dover to avoid this and they pretty much laughed at us. They said there would be more than enough cabs to transfer us to the ship and just check with our hotel which is just down the beach from yours.
This worries me about Copenhagen. We have a 7:00 am flight on 7/1. I was going to rely on a taxi - should I look into something else?

Do not feel bad. It is close to cruise time and not everybody would be able to add someone so close to our sailing date. It is great that some of us can. We just happened to make a few extras.

I was missing your two weeks post! :)
