Congrats on the pirate: !

These are some phrases that might help (I wouldn't count on English from a Sardinian taxi driver):

Vorrei alla la spiaggia. (I would like to go to the beach.)

Puo' riportarmi indietro? (Can you take me back?)

Quanto costa? (How much does it cost?)

Puo' riportarmi indietro? (Can you take me back?)

Sorted in level of importance

Quanto costa? (How much does it cost?)
Ensuro-not-rippen-de-offoo!
Puo' riportarmi indietro? (Can you take me back?)
Ensuro-not-left-behind-doe.
Vorrei alla la spiaggia. (I would like to go to the beach.)
Ensuro-the closest one-o-directo-route, noto Cagliari.
la spiaggia-also a pasta nice with bolonaise

I'm glad you're not in charge of communicating in Italian for my group, Andrew!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Andrew - Do you mean our Palo brunch is actually a food fight?

I hope Palo let me back in for Dinner later in the week:confused3

Your ok there 'Dale' ant going to my group one! -Its breakfast!

Yes, Helen, luckily I'm not at your Palo brunch so I don't have to be embarrassed by being seen with Andrew, covered in chocolate and strawberry jam . . . good luck with that . . .

I wonder if I could get a special order of a Palo souffle, especially constructed to ba a missile???????

You were actually in mind when I wrote about switching off the work mode . . . Do your best, Andrew -- you need the vacation.

Souffle -v- Flan no contest.

But I still have five days to go,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Hi Maryann - It was a great night last night.
My head is a little worse for wear this morning if you know what I mean:goodvibes
That sounds like great fun!

Hi Perdie, if we take a taxi, we will take up all of it (I have three girls with me) -- I also probably won't decide until possibly once there whether I want to go via taxi, bus or train. I think it's quite do-able, though.
We have 5 - will take up a taxi and then some - not sure yet what we will do, may just take shuttle into town, walk around and head back for boat, we'll see

Laura, unless someone has already replied - Maryann just told me - I think it was post 12828 - page in the 800s or 900s.

A person can take anything for 5 days, particularly if you know it's only 5 days -- it's when you don't know when you will get a break that things are hard to tough out. You can do it . . . at work visions of the Magic can dance through your head . . . just don't space out too much and get fired . . .

Leslie, from what I have read the train station in Olbia can take you straight to a nearby beach, Cala Sabina, and back -- that is likely how we will go. It would be a shame to be on such a beautiful island in the Med and not spend a little time at the beach. Taxis may or may not be plentiful, or reliable, and certainly none will take 5 (unless they have vans, which seems unlikely).

The last few posts have messed up the quoting -- I didn't say that last post I quoted, Leslie did!

PIZZA -food
PISA-Tower

ROME-Capital
ROAM-Walk around

POPE- in charge of Catholic church.
POP-Soda, deck 9.

What more?

Ciao!!:confused3

Va bene, Andrew . . . . luckily Fabrizio can handle things for you in Napoli and I'm sure others will watch out for you in the other ports . . .

I keep pinching myself - 2 weeks today we'll have had our brunch and be on the Magic:cool1:

I cant believe we are in the final stages of counting down:banana:

I get fired on Thursday actually, already booked in! At least I will have Friday off to pack.

Whilst I am on the DCL train trip, I know thats going to be slow and will look at a countryside and sea views. I would not recommend the trains on that Island to actually go anywhere on time and fast, plus the Station is in the town and you would have to walk 20 mins plus, or taxi in, so you might as well stay in the taxi!

My previous link for taxis does have mini vans and Coaches.

Yes, it is truly hard to believe . . . the strangest thing of all will be when the actual experience exceeds these incredibly high expectations we have!

Don't joke about getting fired, Andrew!

We don't need trains to go fast that day in Sardinia . . . the beach is relatively close by and we have many hours that day without much planned. That's the nice thing about that day, since there aren't so many "must sees" we can relax and experience the flavor of the place.

Information about Cala Sabina (check any map of Sardinia and you will see that Golfo Aranci is quite close to Olbia, the train can't take that long, nor would a taxi).

Cala Sabina (Golfo Aranci, province Olbia-Tempio)

Cala Sabina is located in Golfo Aranci. The beach is characterized by white fine sand alternate to pebbles and rocks. The cove is bordered by a thickly vegetation of junipers and Mediterranean "macchia". The shallowness of the water makes Cala Sabina an ideal place for children. Also it is a good place for snorkeling and scuba diving.

How to reach the beach

You can reach the cove by boat or by train from Olbia to Golfo Aranci. It stops just near to the beach. It is a summer service, actually it starts the 14 of June and it ends the 14 of September. Finally you can reach the beach on foot passing through a path which joins the road SP 82 to the beach.

More information (I am particularly interested in the "suggestive" route along the eastern coast!):

Cala Sabina beach

Golfo Aranci - Golfo Aranci - SS [Sassari]
The beach of Cala Sabina is located, along the northern coast of the promontory of Capo Figari, in the territory of Golfo Aranci
It is regarded as one of the most beautiful beach in the Gallura region; the beach is about 300 mt. large, surrounded by junipers and mediterranean vegetation and its sand is white and fine.
How to get there: from Olbia follow directions to Golfo Aranci; from there the beach is reachable by boat, on foot or even by train, so that you can enjoy a suggestive route along the eastern coast.
Tourist Attractions
Golfo Aranci is situated on the north-eastern part of the island, 18 kilometers from Olbia. It is a fishing town whose name comes not, as you can think, to the Italian word “Aranci” but to the words “li ranci” that in the local dialect mean “the crabs”. During the last years Golfo Aranci has grown thanks to its railway and its harbor, a very important slips for the navies coming from the Italian mainland. The surroundings are rich in remains that date back to the Nuragical and Roman Age.
