Anytime....... :upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow

Welcome Perdie!!! Yes, I am planning on a spening half of the day on a beach in Sardina, but I think I will be playing it by ear when we get there. I still may chicken out and try to get on one of Disney's tours, but I really do not want to go that route.

Do you think you will taxi it? I was reading up on Olbia and the buses seem unreliable-well just limited really-not as frequent as I'd like!

Hi Perdie...I would love to... do have the information on times, how many people and cost???? I also am not planning on staying the entire day,I wouldn't want you to feel confined to someone else's schedule- although we are very flexible and go with the flow. I also have an almost 13 year old- I will fully understand if you want just an adult group-!! :)

Hi Perdie, if we take a taxi, we will take up all of it (I have three girls with me) -- I also probably won't decide until possibly once there whether I want to go via taxi, bus or train. I think it's quite do-able, though.

Sorry if I missed this already - but my clothing is busy wrinkling and I'm wondering if there are strategies for un-wrinkling clothing after we get on the ship. Not that I'm meticulous about that stuff - but it would be nice not to look like a crumpled paper bag every night!

OH! My dog is going to boot-camp while we're gone! I'm excited to find a productive stimulating environment for her instead of just a kennel. She's my empty-nest dog - and my sweet buddy.
Yes, I'm going to miss her.

Roan

Regarding dogs - it is killing me to leave her behind - yes I will miss her but I am so concerned with leaving her w/my sister/parents. I am afraid she will run out of the house or the gate. I know how stubborn my dad is also and does not follow rules as far as her diet. I am really considering having my neighbor housesit for the weeks.

Regarding clothes - I wish I did not have to worry abouth the clothes either. I now give all the dress shirts for the men to have them pressed as soon as we arrive. I press some here and there early on so I can forget about them. You can try hanging some in the bathroom when someone is in the shower :confused3 if it's something light. Don't they sell sprays also? I have never tried them. I have read to roll the clothes w/dry cleaning bags also. I would love to hear other tips myself.

:offtopic:

DD turns 20 on Friday. She is frantically trying to convince DH and myself to go and pick up her copy of the book. Here's my dilemna:

1. I pre-ordered at 40% off from a self-standing major Borders bookstore.

I spoke with them yesterday to confirm that they had my order. They will be of course having the wonder Harry Potter celebration party from 9 -12 where they will be handing out wristbands for lines.

Today I went to another mall where they have a small Borders Express. They too will be having a HP party. However, the clerk recommended that people might want to come to the little one as the bigger stores will more likely have bigger lines. They will be having help from the closed mall security and they will be having cookies, games, costume contests where the winner will get 1st place in line. Anyway, he told me that it was too late pre-order as the books were already in the back.

He also practically guaranteed that someone could just walk in off the street as they had order 900 books over the pre-ordered amount just to be on the safe side.

I HATE CROWDS - this is me in a mall - :furious:

So, do I forgo the $40% discount, and go for the smaller mall store which probably will be less busy or should I try and gut it out and go to the one that I ordered the book from? Also, the smaller store told me that they should have plenty of limited edition posters to hand out which the bigger store may run out of?

The bad thing of course is that at the small store I have to pay full price - but books I don't mess around with - if I want it - I'll buy it. After all - the mind is a terrible thing to waste right?

I strive to instill in all my children a love of reading. I got one fanatic like me (although I have switched more to Books-On-Tape lately), 1 avid magazine and required school book reader and 1 (male) who scored off the charts in reading but HATED doing it!

Oh well, what's a mom to do? I will probably convince DH to go with me on Friday night as that is DD's 20th b-day!

UPDATE: As for me - I finally opened my iphone - I caved! and will be hooking it up to iTunes when the DIS goes down tonight.

Knowing my children and myself - I would probably forego the 40%.

My middle son waited almost 16 hours (camped out outside of Toys R's) when the X-Box came out. He was determined and had a great time/experience waiting.

Good Luck Friday and Happy Birthday to your DD.

Oh yeah,

In response to the clerk who informed us that the HP book was already in the back of the store waiting until Friday:

I was kidding with DD and told her that I was going to try and bribe the clerk into telling me who died in the last book but you would have thought that I suggested that God was a lie - she gave me this look and walked out of the store.

I was left to run after her and tell her I was just kidding. Her reponse?

You don't do things like that Mom. That's almost sacreligious! :scared1:

She did not think it was funny! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I should add also, I work in retail. Every Tuesday there are usually new DVD Movie releases - same goes for books. We usually have them in about 1 week before. They are not allowed to be on the floor. They would receive a serious violation if it sold before release date - however if you have an inside connection? No, no, I would not risk my job - but I would be tempted tell/ask the clerk the same thing If I were in a similar situtation and my kids would be mortified (even though I was just playing around).
Okay did I just make any sense?

Can someone tell me where or what page the link was for the shirt images? I seem to have misplaced it! I'm so sad - this last few days I've been like a chicken with her head cut off! :sad2:

Laura, unless someone has already replied - Maryann just told me - I think it was post 12828 - page in the 800s or 900s.

Hi Maryann - It was a great night last night.

The castle was truly beautiful - (It is converted into a hotel)

(For those who missed it I went to an Elizabeth banquet.)

There were actors in costume.

We met in the dungeon bar ( Which really used to be a dungeon)

We were all led into the baquet hall -Long rows of wooden benches.

One party was selected to be the honary baron for the night (not us) They sat at the top table.

There was singing, music and a lot of mead (old drink made from honey)

We only had bread and dagger to eat with ( After a couple glasses of mead you didn't care):lmao:

Food was delicious - we had vegetable broth and wholemeal bread.
Fish pie ( cod with mash and cheese - yummy but very difficult to eat)
Lamb ribs -cooked in red wine
Roast Chicken, jacket potato and salad
Apple crumble and cream
(thankfully they gave us a spoon for desert):goodvibes
After the banquet we were taken back to the dungeons where they had a disco (so I worked off some of the calories).
:rolleyes1

My head is a little worse for wear this morning if you know what I mean:goodvibes

Helen, it sounds like you had a nice evening. Glad you had a great time.

Hi everyone!
I think my husband (AZDisneyDan) posted on here a few weeks ago letting you all know we are on your cruise too! :cool1:

I have a question about Olbia, if anyone can help, we want to go to the beach on our own and understand some people are planning the same, does anyone know where to go? What bus to take? How to get to the best beach? We were in a book store looking at a book on Sardinia and we tried figuring it out-sounds like Costa Smeralda is pretty close but we couldn't figure out if there is a bus from port to there? Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks! Can't wait to get onboard! (This will be our first Disney Cruise!!!)

:cheer2:

Hi Perdie and Welcome. Glad you found us.

I am tempted to cancel the DCL beach excursion and doing it on our own. Just a few days to decide.

Read on.

OK after reading the next part of a trip report I have another question -

What is the name of the port / terminal where the Magic will be?

I dont recall seeing it on any of the info?

I want to practise my spanish for the cab driver

Quiero ir ......

(I want to go ......)

sorry about all the questions?

Helen,

Thanks for posting all the great info.

Anytime....... :upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow

We have no plans yet either, and no info on taxis or times...I am like you and I think we will play this by ear! But maybe we can all meet up beforehand and try to navigate the italian cabbies together! We don't want to stay the whole day either-besides even if we share a cab there, doesn't mean we have to share one back if one wants to leave early, right?
We're pretty easy too....

Big congrats on a mini pirate!!

Good Morning,

I will gladly assist if someone is out there waiting ;)

I think I am all caught up and pirate is coming up.

Just filled out cruise documents and waiting for everyone to sign them so I could put them away.
