We have no plans yet either, and no info on taxis or times...I am like you and I think we will play this by ear! But maybe we can all meet up beforehand and try to navigate the italian cabbies together! We don't want to stay the whole day either-besides even if we share a cab there, doesn't mean we have to share one back if one wants to leave early, right?
We're pretty easy too....

I have read there will be a regular Taxi run to/from La Cinta Beach.

Not sure if Perdie knows about pirate:

Congratulations!

No, I had no idea! But thanks and happy to be a Mini Pirate!! pirate:

As you can see I love Goofy and Pirates...here is a pic of my goofy pirate at DLRP:

Good Morning :goodvibes

If there will be taxi's going to La Cinta Beach, why take DCL excursion to same spot? As is my nature - 2nd guessing has begun!!:confused3

Same as Trains to Rome, from port, and trains to Monte Carlo, many things can be done yourself but its organised, and you have a guranteed space, and you will get back in time, and it picks you up directly form the ship.

But Taxi gives you freedom to do what you want and when, and is likley to be cheaper.

Thank You Andrew :teacher:
I think we will stick to the DCL trip. Since this is our 1st cruise, 1st time out of the US, its probably best to stay with the group. :dance3: Usually best to go with 1st instinct.

Sounds good, I think there will be at least 6 disser families at mine by Friday 27th.

Can Mickey come for breakfast?

Andrew, I think you owe it to everyone you have lured to your hotel to dress up like Mickey yourself and do a character greet over breakfast -- be sure to let me know when so that I can show up and stifle my laughter . . .

Morning Everyone...

Just sittin' here at work, catching up on the boards, dreaming my day away.
Thinking about all the last minute errands I need to do. Making yet another "honey do" list...
I answer the switchboard here at Mercy Hospital and it's a pretty quiet Sunday morning. Not too many calls :surfweb: so I'm able to read the boards while at work. I just can't get carried away and answer "Mickey Medical Center" - although I wouldn't mind going to that hospital. (or working for it either!)
Feeling a little hung over though - went to a Luau party last night with my sister and her work friends. It was a good time but 6am came too early and I will need a nap when I get out at 2pm. Napping = cruise dreams!

I will be a 'Chip' to your 'Dale' and then we can have a food fight.

I wish I was on commission for my hotel!

Congrats on the pirate: !

These are some phrases that might help (I wouldn't count on English from a Sardinian taxi driver):

Vorrei alla la spiaggia. (I would like to go to the beach.)

Quanto costa? (How much does it cost?

Puo' riportarmi indietro? (Can you take me back?)

Now that would be fun! Maybe we should save it for the Dismeet two weeks from now, though, so that everyone can observe the mayhem . . .

Just be sure that two weeks from now you aren't on the Magic in the Med and find yourself dreaming of the switchboard at Mercy Hospital! It's fine to let a vacation filter into work (provided it doesn't interfere) but let's not any of us let work filter into this vacation . . .

Yes, its each to their own what you feel best with, at DCL, all you have to do is register for the trip online and turn up, ( ok pay after), they get commission, you are hassle free.

Nearly everything on this cruise DCL do, you can do by yourself from private tours, to trains, to taxi, to walk and a bus. Everything is close.

I remember last year being in Rhodes town, I had come up by taxi from Lindos in about 50 mins. I have done it before.

Whilst walking around town we saw three or more big cruise ships in. At lunch, we sat in the middle of many cruisers from the USA.

They were talking saying, its so sad they had just found out about how beautiful Lindos was, ( where I stayed) and they were upset they couldn't do it in a day.

They were told on ship, you cannot trust the buses, you will sit next to a goat, or sheep, they are all old and dangerous, the taxis are not reliable you will not get back etc.

All wrong, Taxis all plentiful, all top of the range Merc's, bit fast, but go with the flow, buses run to time better than London, no sheep.

I know how they feel the first time I went to USA, I didn't do much on my own, last trip I organized everything.

DCL are better than those cruise lines they do hand out train times etc and maps and leave it to you, many other cruise lines boost profits by forcing people on their trips.

In five of seven Med ports I have arranged my own, we can direct the driver to what we want to do, go down areas, tour buses can, make changes at short notice, have a private guide in the Vatican, and get a free propeller hat, and free night in the slammer if a member of our trip flashes at the pope!
