July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 2

Well after this one is over, I will start to plan for 2008, I have flights to organize to USA in September, and when they are set, my pre cruise in Disneyland to organize.

Yes, of course you have to get your ducks in a row for that cruise. Have you been following the other thread at all lately?

The kids have made arrangements to meet outside the Walt Disney Theater at 2 pm on Saturday for those that can. If you will be on board then, and your child has not been on the Teen/Tween thread, please let them know!!!!!

I must say, I dropped out as I couldn't keep up with both, this one and that one, I am taking a break anyway from posting after this cruise, and now really this is the only one I post on, my UK DIS commitments have all ended recently as well.

The Rep 2008 will need 'all the ducks' in a row, it isn't easy actually with open jaw flights, London>LA Orlando>London, most likely Virgin or BA, but they are not out to 335 days before flight, then I will fit in Disneyland, then transfers, and so on, before considering private trips or CL. If I had spare days and fle on American or United i would have a stop over in New York take the kids there.

But as I have been to most ports, I think, Acapulco, Walk/Taxi, I know it well now, this would be third time. Cabo, might walk around been there once before. PV, walk/taxi/beach.

Columbia DCL trip re security issues, Aruba not sure see what they have the only port I haven't ever been to before. Caster way Beach.

Not sure yet of plans we will be all over the place that afternoon, I have to go to Palo's for example. we get staterooms at 1pm, so I bet the kids will be at the pool by then.

I know my dd will want to bring her nicer dresses too. She will probably not wear them again (one she wore for my nephew's wedding and one for my parent's 50th).

Yes, I hadn't thought of the open-jaw issues with an international flight! We fly JetBlue domestically and all flights are one way, so no worries there for us. Too bad you can't bring the kids to NYC! Maybe for another trip.

The other thread has just seemed to fall apart -- lots of hurt feelings, people actually quitting the cruise because of issues on the thread, etc. It has been sad to see.

We hope to get back off the ship after getting our room and go to the beach at Barceloneta, so no kids/teens meet on Saturday afternoon for us, probably.

Are you serious Julie? People are not crusing because of the thread? It must be bad. What is going on? Just curious. I have never seen that in all the years that I have followed my threads and others. It's sad. It's so easy to take things the wrong way without seeing/hearing expressions in person sometimes - these side symbols help out a lot.

We are undecided about what to do once we check in at the port in Barcelona. We want to see how we feel. We should probably do something so we can stay up til eve. Are you taking a cab to a beach close by? Someone mentioned the tourtistic bus tour?

Hi- yes you can charge all your purchases to a card -they issue them when you check into your disney hotel. Covers both parks and disney village apart from places like McDonalds i.e. non-disney. It is the same as your hotel id card v. similar to the key to the world card.

NEW YORK: If I had 1/2 more days I would have a stop over, its free on USA Airlines, breaks the jouney up and I want to go back to NY, kids havent been there, but with only a few days spare I think its UK planes direct.

OPEN JAW does cause problems for example I would leave London Heathrow, but come back to London Gatwick some 40 miles apart, so cannot use car, would have to use taxi or Trains, with luggage for a cruise an issue.

Didnt know that about the repo thread, I just felt I couldnt keep up with that one, when this one increased pace, here I do ketchup and can keep up witrh the discussion and current conversation, I couldnt keep up with both, and lost the repo ketchup, then felt I was out of the conversation / topic, so dropped out.

Spending too much time on diss now, iI try for two ketchups a day on this one, I was only on evenings (here) and hour or so, and weekends on the repo.

Hope they all make up!

HI Anna and everyone- We definitely want to go to the beach in Sardinia- did you book a tour or are you going to take a cab?? I want to take a cab, but I am concerned with getting back on time- and I dont know which beach to go to- any suggestions???

Andrew I hope you are planning time to take the family to visit us when you are here!!!! Besides coming for the plain joy of being with my family again, Long Island is gorgeous- lots to see and do !!!

Have to say its a case of history repeating itself, the 2005 repo had a couple of posters who went far to far, after warnings from the moderators, the thread was closed down and some Dissers 'left' and went elsewhere.

The whole point of these cruise threads are to make Friends and have an enjoyable holiday/ vacation. Sometimes jokes can go just a bit too far, and when posting you might not guess or understand someones reaction to your post.

Plus with not just people from USA but English and other counties whilst we speak a common language sometimes there are slight differences in words and humor and can accidentally be taken the wrong way.

It is so sad if people drop out, I must say in 2005, I did 'avoid' some previous Dissers who were on that cruise, I didn't think about canceling but i didn't want my holiday disrupted either.

I am glad we are a very very nice group.

So true, sad and a shame. I agree with you, we have a nice group here. Different personalities and everyone respects each other. Just running into people we "know" makes it more fun, I think.

New York is on my list 'to do' I went there before, I really enjoyed it, it 'feels' like London, only San Francisco did I feel the same.

The issue is time, I think 2008 will have to be fly direct to LAX, as I have 4 days only spare pre cruise due to my and DW work commitments. The repo ends on a Monday, so that 'steals' two days from me, I would fly back Monday night, arrive Morning Tuesday so no work to Wednesday.

In 2005 it ended on Saturday so I had more days and went to Vegas and Hollywood before Disneyland. Cant do that.

Kids want to see New York, a recent Doctor Who was set there and that increased their desire.

Now I might get air-miles from September booking my 2008 Trip so Dependant on that might be a cheap trip to NY.

PS just reconfirmed all our private tours with the operators.

i had a sightseeing one booked, but I cancelled it as I want to get one swim in the Med. waters. I remember reading that the beach tours were not so great, so I figured we would try it on our own- I think Julie is doing that- I want to wait to hear from her as to what to do.
