July 27, 2008 West Coast Magic - 10 Years of Magical Cruising

Long week and I even took today off 16 hours Wednesday and 17 hours yesterday, and there is no end in sight. I need a vacation. Oh well 2 years 10 months. LO


In Denver right now waiting for our flights to SLC then SNA and then DL….. Yeah…. Dreading the crowds at DL. So I am setting my what we can do expectations low. Will be great to see some fellow cruisers.

Should we shoot for an early Sunday Morning for a say hi Meet? Will probably hit a coffee shop somewhere in Downtown Disney? Suggestions????

Got that tag after the First Panama Cannal Repo. From East to West. KEWL huh!!!

SLC, airport code for Salt Lake City, and SNA is fro Orange County or John Wayne.

Got the Super Shuttle to DL for tonight, yeah!!!! we made it to SLC. Got about an hour to kill here in the Crown Room.

Yep. Early start, but since we're only staying 1 night this time, we want to get to the park as early as possible. Driving from Fresno, so it's 4+ hours depending on traffic.

Up good and early did a one mile speed training and then a 5K at a 11 min pace. I am ready bring it on …. Then walked a couple of miles with Lynn.

There is Free Internet at the DL hotel How KEWL, are ya listening WDW???????

Looking forward to seeing old friends and new one alike. Later kids I gotta get some coffee and hit the parks early……

Kids It is Africa Hot here at DL, spent ost of yesterday with Kay, Susie, and Linda’s Crew . We were really surprised that the crowds seemed less than we expected. Maybe the heat has kept folks away.

We had dinere with Kelly, Ann, Karen etc….It is great to see past cruisers.

I really liked the fireworks here at DL.

We are hoping that the mornings stay cool.

Today will be a rest day.


Wish I had signed up for the 5k, the course loks really Kewl. Next year….

Now I am too excited to sleeep,

Pretty darn excited this morning, so here I am waiting for the coffee shop to open.

It has benn fantastic to see one and all again, making plans for future trips, enjoying DL etc etc etc…..

All the DVC people have no Idea about the CA DVC property. Seems they have briefed the bell hops and security folks about it LOL…..Looks like we will be getting more points in about a year or so.

I wish the race would start sooner as it will be rather warm, incentive to finish early.

Well best of luck to fellow racers, coffee shop is opening.

Home from DL. Must get sleep. More tomorrow.

Good morning! It's amazing what a good nights sleep will do. I can actually speak in full sentences now.

I'm at work on a holiday, so that sucks. Let me rephrase that...I'm putting in my 8 hours today (not much "work" will be involved, as there is no mail and no banking today).

We had a great time meeting you all. I wish it could have been longer, but with the inlaws with us, it makes it kind of hard.

We were amazed at the lack of crowds on both Saturday and Sunday. I guess everyone was in line for Nemo.

We didn't get to DL until 10am on Saturday and left after the fireworks and were still able to do the following (not in chronological order):
Buzz Lightyear (ME DW DS)
Rocket Jets (DW DSx2)
Star Tours (ME DW DS)
Space Mountain (MEx2 DW DSx2)
Big Thunder Mountain (ME DWx2 DSx2)
Explorer Canoes (DW DS)
Haunted Mansion (ME DW DS)
Splash Mountain (ME DWx2 DSx2)
Winnie The Pooh (ME DW DS)
Pinocchio (ME DW DS)
Snow White (ME DW DS)
We also saw the parade, the fireworks and attended the Pat E Cake birthday show at the Plaza Inn. We had lunch at Pizza Port and dinner at Jazz Kitchen (great food, horrible service).

Sunday was DCA day. We got in around 9:30am and stayed until around 4pm. We did the following:

Priincess Dot's Puddle Park (DS)
Grizzly River Run (MEx2 DWx2)
Soarin (ME DWx2 DS)
Redwood Creek Challege Trail (DS)
Monters Inc (ME DW DS)

Golden Zephyr (DS)
Jumphin Jellyfish (DS)
Sun Wheel (DS)
We had a breakfast snack at the bakery, lunch at Storytellers and dinner on the road.

I didn't list them, but MIL, SIL, BIL & Nephew went on some of the rides with us (that's why it looks like DS went on rides by himself ).

We stayed at the Anaheim Carriage Inn. It was clean, but run down. Continental Breakfast was worthless. We had a 1-bathroom suite. It had 2 areas, one with 2 queens, the other with a queen & sofa bed. Each area had a sink and TV. We only paid $108.68 total for 7 people. Not bad if you're only gonna sleep there.

We're thinking about staying there again when return for DS's birthday in October.

I kn0w and I will be y0ur neighb0r h0pe the price isn't t0 crazy. W0uld like t0 but at least 100-150 pts and than will have a t0tal 0f 500-550 0f t0tal pts.

The 0nly thing is that using 0ur 0ther pts at the GC will n0t be able to use except at the 7 m0. mark w0nder if can use them f0r reg. r00ms at anytime like kn0w at the 11 m0. mark that is n0t DVC? What say y0u?

OK - you can be the magnet queen and I'll be the name badge and lanyard king. One of our other cruiser has been working on a 10 year logo. He said he would send it to me this wekend for comment. Once we get a logo nailed down, we can start doing all sorts of fun things.

I've done name badges and lanyards for four cruises. So, I will be happy to do them again for this cruise.

Actually, I am still working on it. Just revisited it the other day and am going to try a couple of wording changes. Then I'll send it out for input.

WE DID IT!!!!!! Along with about 13000 folks LOL

IT WAS HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!! Red flag day. I must have leaked 400 gallons of sweat. I did see three (3) people go down during the race. And several after they finished. I would guess all heat related.

We learned a lot about how to dress, prep etc.

Oh Times, Lynn was in at 3:29:00 and I did it in 2:51:04. In looking at the final results I was about the middle of my age group and we are both happy with our results.

The Disney folks did a great job and a letter will follow with compliments.

After the race we cleaned up and went to CA and rode CA Screaming, it was still pretty hot as the thermometer on the elevator said 110, later we learned the temp had gotten up to 105, official temp that is. Went for lunch at Rain Forrest, and then hit the pool, Then back to DL for the evening to drift around and catch short lines for attractions. There is the new Honda robot at Inoventions that we will try to catch today. Crowds still light.

So yesterday it was “please keep you hand and arm inside the vehicle at all times and hang on to those finishing medals”
