July 26...who's coming with me???

Marie,

Funny you should ask about crawfish. We just had a boil this weekend and were commenting on how it would be the last one this season as their shells were kind of hard. I fixed etouffe with the left overs. Maybe we could UPS you some andouille.

Joey,

I have to admit I was shocked when I checked this thread and someone from Metairie knew my name. I almost called Brady to the computer but he wasn't here

MagicMouseketeers,

Christopher was just asking me if Matt had e-mailed him back yet. School let out on May 30 and he is constantly asking me to check the e-mail.

Barb,
They usually sing all the popular ones, but they like singing "Cheeseburger in Paradise" really, really loud!
But if I know my kids, they probably won't do it for an audience.
We have never seen Jimmy Buffet in concert, but friends of mine have and taken their kids. They claim it's a pretty family-friendly atmosphere.
Kerri

Dawn,

Matt was just talking last night about how he owes Christopher and e-mail. He's been pretty busy, school just ended Tuesday and he's playing baseball 2 nights a week. I'm going to have him get at it today.

We are exicted to meet you and your family and the our other "DIS" friends. I can hardly believe it only 40 days to go.

Glenn

still debating where to stay night before cruise....

Wondering where everyone has decided on. And what rates/how they got the best rate.

I have gone to Dave's tribute site numerous times and keep kicking around the idea of staying at the Radisson--I just haven't officially booked it yet. We probably will end up doing this as the pool looks great and keeping the van there will save money on parking at DCL--to bad it's so far from the ocean. It looks like I can get a room with 2 doubles for $89. using the "Visit Florida" pricing. I read on here that the Cruise Package is overpriced and not necessary for the parking. Any cons to using the Radisson besides so far from the ocean/beach?

Am I missing a better deal that will allow for parking of our vehicle? Thanks for the thoughts/responses. :)

hilltopfamily -

We are staying at the Radisson on Friday night. I think we are going to drive over there around 7 p.m. from WDW. I think we got a suite for $99. I originally had the cruise package and cancelled it after reading that they will let you park for free whether or not you have it.

We are staying at the Radisson also. I got a travel agent rate of $69.00 plus tax for a standard room. Our flight gets into MCO at around 2:30pm. Then we are heading straight to the hotel. We will need to find a liquor store for DH to buy some bottles of wine to have in the stateroom. Then, we might check out Ron Jon's.
Maybe we can all meet up by the pool later in the evening.

Hi KerriL,

We are staying at the Radisson also. We will probably get in pretty late, we are DRIVING this time. I had to compromise! If he'll cruise, I'll drive! It's worth it!

aperfecttrip,
Oh boy, he sounds like my husband! Mine still insists he's not going next month! It's not the cruising so much... (He's not that fond of Disney:eek: ) He prefers island destinations, but cruising with the kids is great.
Maybe we'll run into you guys at breakfast.
Nick still hasn't had a chance to e-mail your son. He has finals this week and the last day of school is Friday. He'll be in touch soon.
Kerri

We have decided on the Radisson!

I ended up calling the Radisson to see if I could get a better rate with my entertainment card discount. It wouldn't apply for that night, but I went ahead and put a hold on a "king suite" I think she called it (I believe it has 2 kings, 1 sofabed, whirlpool, refrig, 1 bedroom). Anyway, this will fit the 5 of us better and, at a cost of $109, it's not that much more than the $89 I would pay for a standard with 2 queens. Looking forward to possibly meeting up at the pool that night!

Aperfecttrip-- We, too, are driving but are giving ourselves plenty of time to get there (shouldn't be very late that day).

KerriL-- I see Portafino Bay listed under your name. We're staying there for 1 night at the end of the cruise. Can you tell me some about it?

Disneylandborntoshop-- We might also to take in Ron Jon's. I know nothing about surfing, but the place sounds interesting!

:smooth:

oops! it's disneyworldborn2shop, not disneylandborntoshop. Sorry!!!!! :(

To all you July 26th parrot heads. For my Father's day present my family bought me tickets to the Jimmy Buffet concert on June 28th. What a surprise after talking about it on the board. By July 26th I will be singing "Boat Drinks" as I waste away in Magriataville.

:jester: :jester:

Are we the only ones flying ? We are flying in on Friday night and are staying at the MCO Hyatt.

After the cruise we are doing Seaworld and Discovery cove for a couple of days. We have our house rented out for the big air show and can't get back into our house till Monday.

hilltopfamily-
What would you like to know? We stayed there for 1 night also after the 7nt Eastern in Sep. 2000. We had a standard room, but it was far from standard. Room was much larger than most of Disney's deluxe rooms. Sheets, pillows and bedding were of a very high quality. Room was very well appointed with very nice amenities. There were bathrobes in the closet, as well as an umbrella.
Bathroom was very large with laundry hamper, quality toiletries and a scale. Which after spending 7nts on the ship eating a ton, I didn't go anywhere near it!
The kids enjoyed the pool. I think it had sand on the bottom, and I know it had a cool slide.
Loews Hotels owns this property and it is operated very well.
The only negative I found is that the food was very, very expensive. The didn't seem to have any reasonable priced eateries. But with City Walk and all of International Drive at your disposal, you certainly won't starve. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to try to answer, although my memory may be a little fuzzy!

MagicMouseketeers-
That's so cool!
He'll be in our area Aug 29 & 30, but we can't make it. That's the only weekend all summer that the kids and I can get a visit with my sister who lives in NYC.
Enjoy!
Kerri

MagicMouseketeers,
We are flying also. But decided on staying at the Port rather than the airport. Figured we could check out Ron Jon's and do some last minute shopping. Plus, it will be good to get the drive out of the way the day before. In the morning we'll just catch a quick breakfast and we'll be at the terminal in minutes!
Kerri

disneyworldborn2shop: Lucky you! I really tried for Royal Pacific but at that time there was no availability for entertainment card rate that night or at Hard Rock Hotel, only Portafino. We're doing USF since we've not been to either of the parks yet. Maybe IOA another time for us. You'll have a great time!

KerriL: thanks for the info about Portafino Bay. Sounds great, if just a little more upscale than we are used to. Thanks for the heads up about dining costs--with 5 of us, we'll probably look elsewhere for meals.

MagicMouseketeers-I will drink a Margaretta on the 28th and think about all the fun you're having!! What a great deal to rent the house and go on vacation!! Please remember to post about your discovery cove trip. We really want to do that but I don't plan that far ahead. Everytime I call it can't get the day I want.

hilltopfamily-you are gonna love portafino bay. it's so pretty. when you stay there you can use the poos at the other 2 hotels. You can hop the boat over to Hard Rock and swim. The pool at HR has music when you go under and has a great slide. Last time we stayed there we sat in the pool and watched the fireworks!! Also, if you think you are gonna come back to FL you may want to buy a multi-day pass. The best part of it is you can park hop and with the long summer hours you can see alot in one day. Especially since you don't have to wait in all those lines!! That is the best part of staying on site at IOA/US.

KerriL-my hubby is not a disney kinda guy either. More sports and beer kinda guy. We both would have loved a ship with gambling but wanted to make this a family trip. I would end up living in the casino!! So tell him when he's had enough of the mouse he and my DH can head to ESPN!!

We are at the raddison but won't get in until late. My DD is going to be flying back from Jamica at 3:30 on friday. As soon as my x gets her home we will leave to head north. I don't remember how long it takes...4 hours I think. Hopefully kids will take a quick swim and then head to pool.

Is anybody else leaving the car at the hotel? I want DH to drive us to port then drop car off and hop on shuttle or take a cab back to port. I hope the car will be okay.

I can't wait to go!!!!!!!!! 39 more days of work....YUCK!!!

Have a great week.

i posted this to another thread:
pirates of the caribean comes out on july 9 (no rating yet)
i heard little nemo, holes, lizzie mc quire were all still playing.
i'm bummed that freaky friday doesn't come out till august 6. i would love to see this with my dd.

MBFergie,

Cheers for the Margaritta toast, maybe we can all meet on the cruise and hoist a couple. We've been renting out a house for 4 years now to a group a people from Houston. It's the annual EAA convention and brings in a ton of people. Oshkosh is only 60,000 so it gets a little crazy here. The place were I work is right by the airport and it's a bit of a pain to get home from. So I'd much rather be on vacation.

Ok, going a little nuts since my computer crapped out on me...I won't be posting much until it's fixed. Using one at work just to quickly check e-mails...
Hope to be back on-line soon.
aperfecttrip,
Call DCL...I think they are assigning us staterooms now :D
